I haven't heard this one mentioned here yet so I thought I would.

10 dead 15 hospitalized. Wow! Seems like a big deal. And that's just from stabbings. Is it not such a big deal because it can't be used as an excuse to take peoples' guns away?

"

RCMP have issued a dangerous persons alert across Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba, after multiple people were stabbed early Sunday morning in James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Sask.

In a news conference at 3:40 p.m. CST, police confirmed 10 people are dead and at least 15 people have been hospitalized, following a stabbing spree in 13 different locations.

"There may be additional injured victims who transported themselves to various hospitals," Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, told reporters.

"We are currently actively looking for [them], dedicating maximum resources to this."

Who says it's not a big deal?  It's a horrific crime.  Why are you immediately trying to politicize it?

Yeesh.  It gets worse:

Saskatchewan mass killing suspect committed similar attack in 2015, court file shows (msn.com)

Quote

The suspect wanted for a mass killing in Saskatchewan on the weekend committed a similar stabbing attack seven years ago, in 2015.

One of the people he attacked then, seems to be one of the victims from this new attack - Earl Burns a veteran and identified here as the suspect's in-laws.

There was also another knife attack in 2018:

Sanderson had been repeatedly accused of threatening to kill members of the James Smith Cree Nation and had stabbed two with a cheese knife in April 2018, the court file indicates.

GUNTER: The 'progressive' theories that drive our criminal justice system (msn.com)

Quote

Prime Minister Stephen Harper tried to end statutory release for the worst-of-the-worst federal offenders – people in jail for their second, third or subsequent violent crime.

Even that was too much for the Liberals and the system insiders who have designed our parole system.

Before Harper’s efforts died on the order paper when the 2015 federal election was called, Mary Campbell, a former director general of corrections policy at Public Safety Canada, told the CBC (who else) that giving violent offenders more time in prison and less time in the community before the end of their sentences actually makes the public less safe.

Long sentences give them “a shorter period of reintegration,” Campbell argued. “To give them less support and less time under supervision just seems contrary to the best public safety.”

It’s head scratching to think an intelligent person can convince themselves the public is safer because dangerous inmates are let out earlier. Yet that is the bizarro thinking that led to 10 dead in Saskatchewan.
