According to Alex Jones!  "She's possessed by demons!"  You couldn't make up stupider shit.

This is one of many trials he's facing, and if there's one thing the Courts don't like, it's questioning and disrespecting their authority.

Well she's an activist judge no doubt.

She refused to allow on air apologies and backtracking statements as evidence. Which is evidence of mitigation... any first year law student would tell you that.

The US has a problem with farce show trials.  Smear in the media to rile people up.

it will hold up just fine

lots of states have punitive damage caps and have for a long time

Texas is far from unique or unusual

Lots of states have punitive damage caps, some have been struck down, they are not always respected and sometimes they have to be re-written.

In Texas, the punitive damages can be 2x the economic damages + no more than $750,000 per plaintiff.  Baseline we're therefore looking at $9-10M, but let's see open the Texas superior courts, or even the Supreme Court show themselves to a dude who repeatedly perjured himself during the trial and mocked the judge herself on his idiot show.

It's not evidence of mitigation.  Apologizing long after the fact, only after you find yourself in trouble and after the damage is done, is not mitigation.  Any first year Law Student knows that.  Considering he was online smearing the judge during the trial, only a fool would believe that he's even demonstrated regret or contrition.

It wasn't long after the fact.

And that's a ridiculous statement. Of course apologies are... it's right in that state's law that she ignored

I know this might be jarring seeing your boy embarrassed like this, but spare us your attempts at applying legal theory.  It's pretty clear this isn't your wheelhouse.

An apology only matters if it's genuine and shows actual contrition.  Coming years after the fact, after you already realize you're in trouble, it counts for very little.  Sandy Hook was in 2012.  Alex Jones was screeching his nonsense years after the fact, when from the start it was clear and obvious this was not a "hoax" and that the mere idea that it could be was completely implausible.

Even if the apology was genuine (which it obviously wasn't given his perjury and aggression towards the trial judge), it doesn't absolve you.  Whether or not you believed what you were saying, being aggressively stupid and reckless has consequences too.

Its obviously not your wheelhouse either..

There must be malice involved in the statement. Simply being wrong about something doesn't mean it's defamation...

And yes an apology would strike against malice intent.

And no I'm not an Alex Jones fan. In my opinion the guy needs to be checked for mental health issues. What i am for is not having lunatics acting as judges on the bench trying to score some political points.

What I find with your ilk is you allow raw hatred of conservatives to cloud your judgement... because he disagrees with you politically it makes him a bad person therefore should be trampled harshly by the legal system.. people like you are a disgrace to the process. We seen it with your so called virtuous opinions on innocent people being held in jail without a trial... too much cnn.

This isn't about whether he apologizes or not, whether he is really sorry or not. It isn't about his feelings. No one gives a shit about what this pig feels.

It is about the damage he did to others.

This seems like a really stupid lawsuit.  Alex Jones is an idiot but it shouldn't be illegal to be a mouthy idiot.

It was a civil suit, not a criminal charge.  He was found guilty for defamation, which is what his lies were.  Then he was assessed damages against the people his lies hurt.

and he's using the trials as an platform to grandstand

and increase the reach of his brand

giving AJ the spotlight in order to after him for defamation

It's about giving the man a fair trial even if you hate him... not using it to score political points. That's pathetic

He had a fair trial; jury and everything.  Is every judgement you, personally, don't like some kind of political statement.

Why do you support a lying jackass anyway?

You really are out in left field aren't you.  The parents of a kid who was killed in a massacre bought a civil suit against the person who defamed them by speaking lies.  The lies were believed by a certain really stupid demographic, who then threatened and harassed the parents.  This isn't left/right, this is tragedy speaking out against an opportunistic, lying POS.

Alex Jones appreciates your counterproductive witch trials

It's not a witch trial when your heroes have to pay for using lies for clickbait.

click bait is protected free speech

blaming Alex Jones for the actions of others like he possessed them with black magic is a witch trial

You clearly have no idea how communication works, nor any idea how ideas spoken translate into action.

Alex Jones never advocated for harassing the families

he is not responsible for crazy people doing crazy things

I guess we know where your moral compass is - lying is ok and accountability is for other people, not you or your heroes.
