It will be more sabre rattling. China isn't ready yet, Taiwan has more and better security agreements and promises from the US & Japan and Ukraine is probably a real eye opener to Peking.

The visit is viewed as a provocation because China sees Taiwan as part of their country so to them it’s a security/sovereignty issue. Also, they’re probably irked that the USA has a short memory span and “forgets” agreements signed in the distant past… 1972!

I’m more interested in finding out how will the retaliation play out.  Will it be only focused on Taiwan, only economic, will the USA experience any kind of consequences or is China a toothless tiger?

China owns a lot of Taiwanes companies. China imports shit loads of Taiwanese products, from computer chips to foodstuffs. If they invade and try to take them, the US & Japanese Navy will be in the way and the Taiwanese will blow it all up before they let it be captured. If they try to do like Russia in Ukraine they'll blow it up themselves.  They're screwed either way.
China only wants Taiwan for 2 reasons: open naval access to the Pacific ocean, and face saving. It won't be like Ukraine, other countries will not just send weapons, they'll actively step in to prevent the first. On the second, China benefits far more financially with the status quo than saving face is worth.

But that's also "Western" thinking... who knows in the end.

You do not know what Chinese leaders are thinking about Taiwan, that’s conspiracy nonsense.

As for the rest of your post and why Taiwan won’t be attacked, you forget.  How is it that Russia attacked Ukraine in spite of the US warning?  Joe Biden, the most ineffective president in their history.

Russia knew with Biden at the helm, they could get away with it.  China watched this, and knows the US won’t do anything but sanctions.

Whatever happens next, the USA already lost and by this I mean the global south and specifically the east are seeing the empire for what it really is. However, let’s be clear, that doesn’t mean China wins…

In addition, Taiwan will be the one to pay the highest price since its being led down the primrose path, just like Ukraine.  Let’s not forget the USA’s knack for proxy wars or their opportunistic stance when it comes to them: “We fight them there, so we don’t have to fight them here”.

When will subservient states understand this? Never, as long as the USA floods them with foreign aid at the expense of American taxpayers.

As you seem to have forgotten: Russia seized Crimea late in Obama's term and got only a smack on the wrist. Four years of Trump ass-kissing Putin made him well aware the USA was in no mood for war and the domestic bullshit over the election proved the USA was too handcuffed internally to formulate a serious response.
That opened the door for Russia to start it's own Sudetenland BS and take more of Ukraine. But there was no Chamberlain waving peace in our time letters, was there? Or love letters from fat little Kimmie.
