The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function.

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940)

An American novelist and short-story writer, widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Born in 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Fitzgerald became famous for his novels, such as "The Great Gatsby," which explored the decadence and excess of the Roaring Twenties.

Despite his literary success, Fitzgerald struggled with personal and financial problems throughout his life. He died in 1940 at the age of 44, leaving behind a legacy of enduring works that continue to captivate readers today.

A Centrist's Wisdom Wednesday

True wisdom is not found in blindly following a particular ideology or political party, but in seeking out and critically evaluating diverse perspectives. Only by embracing nuance and complexity can we truly understand the world and work towards solutions.

Trending News:
*daily in the morning.

  • CBC: Canadian Budget 2023 offers billions for dental care, plus spending cuts and tax hikes to tame deficit. The leaders of Canada's other major federal political parties reacted shortly after the Liberal government laid out their 2023 budget plan.Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called it a “full-frontal attack on the paycheques of hard-working Canadians.” He added that it equals $4,200 per family in new government spending which means “more inflation, more taxes, and more costs for everyday people.” NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said they were proud “for the first time ever – able to connect government investments to good wages. That’s never been there before, having those strings attached that we’re going to give supports and incentives to tackle the climate crisis, only if there is guarantees for good wages, good pay, and support for union jobs.” He also said they weren’t satisfied that the government hasn’t responded to the urgency of the housing crisis and put in place changes to Employment Insurance (EI). And Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet said they wouldn’t support the budget because it wouldn’t “acknowledge the fact that the provinces and Québec need 35 per cent of the total budget in health care to support the system and make it minimally good enough for the services it has to provide.”

Be careful of doing so without first understanding the full implications for you and the people around you. By all means, if you feel like certain things just aren't right, take steps to change them. #ThinkingThursday

Being a radical centrist is like walking a tightrope. You have to maintain balance and focus, and constantly make adjustments to stay upright. You can't lean too far to one side or the other, but rather must attempt to find the spot in the middle. It takes skill, patience, and a willingness to take risks, but the rewards of staying on the tightrope are well worth it. So keep your eyes on the horizon, your feet steady, and your mind open as you navigate the tricky terrain of modern politics.

Polarization-1024x851.png

I firmly believe that polarisation is one of the biggest threats to our democracy.

Both the -> far right and the <- far left are guilty of demonising and dehumanising those who hold opposing views, which only serves to deepen the divide between us.

As a radical centrist, I reject this "us vs. them" mentality and refuse to be a part of the problem. Instead, I strive to engage in respectful dialogue with those who hold different beliefs and find common ground where we can.

It's not always easy, but it's necessary if we want to move forward as a society.

Why did the radical centrist refuse to watch political debates on TV?

Because they prefer to sit on the fence and watch both sides fall off.

Why did the centrist cross the political spectrum?

To get to the middle of the joke! 😄

But seriously, I know this is April 1st, but the <- left and the right -> were both in on it.

They had agreed to meet in the middle, but when the centrist got there, they were nowhere to be found. It turns out, they had both gone too far to the left and the right, and the centrist was left standing alone in the middle, shaking their head in disbelief.

Centrist.png.f269a152ecdbe7db00b397fcb0a152b8.png

Once upon a Sunday morning, a centrist was enjoying a cup of coffee and reading the news when suddenly, the sound of two people arguing outside interrupted their peace. The centrist got up, groggily made their way to the window, and saw that it was a heated debate between a <- left-winger and a right-winger ->.

At first, the centrist tried to ignore them and go back to their coffee, but the argument grew louder and more ridiculous by the second. The left-winger was shouting about how the government should give everyone free everything, while the right-winger was yelling about how taxation is theft.

Finally, the centrist had had enough. They stormed outside with a glass of water in hand and a fierce look on their face. "Enough is enough!" they yelled as they drenched the left-winger and right-winger with logic and data. "You're both wrong! The truth lies somewhere in the middle!"

The left-winger and right-winger looked at each other, stunned, as the centrist continued to shower them with facts and reason. They tried to argue back, but the centrist was too quick and too clever for them. Eventually, they gave up and trudged away, defeated.

The centrist stood there, triumphant, and thought to themselves, "That's what you get for ruining my Sunday morning." They went back inside, brewed another cup of coffee, and enjoyed the rest of their day in peace.

Bus0.png.f0e053f15affc518ca531f6fa1470855.png

At the start of the week, a Centrist hops on the bus and hears the <- Left and the Right -> arguing about how to improve public transit.

  • The Left argues for free rides for all, while the Right wants to privatise the entire system.

The Centrist (=), tired of the bickering, suggests they all get off the bus and walk the rest of the way.

As they walk, the Centrist points out the hilarity of the situation - the Left and the Right, usually at odds, walking side by side towards their destination.

Today I'll be taking a break from the usual preaching and bring you something different.

Documentary - Ruby Ridge

Shortly before dawn on August 21, 1992, six heavily armed U.S. marshals made their way up to the isolated mountaintop home of Randy and Vicki Weaver and their children on Ruby Ridge in Northern Idaho. Charged with selling two illegal sawed-off shotguns to an undercover agent, Weaver had failed to appear in court and law enforcement was tasked with bringing him in. For months, the Weavers had been holed up on their property with a cache of firearms, including automatic weapons. When the federal agents surveilling the property crossed paths with members of the family, a firefight broke out. The standoff that mesmerized the nation would leave Weaver injured, his wife and son dead, and some convinced that the federal government was out of control. Drawing upon eyewitness accounts, including interviews with Weaver's daughter, Sara, and federal agents involved in the confrontation, Ruby Ridge is a riveting account of the event that helped give rise to the modern American militia movement.

Grammarly.png.8dda477415ebb9ae9fc722a513ffd148.png

  • Language is a powerful tool that can either unite or divide people.
  • The way language is used can have a significant impact on the ability to reach a consensus with those who hold different views.
  • Tools like Grammarly can help ensure that language is clear, concise, and error-free, which can increase the effectiveness of one's message.
  • As a Centrist, it's important to take advantage of any tools available to communicate, especially if one speaks several languages and grammar is not their strength.

There actually are some leftists who are reactionary in that they just side against America no matter what. Many of them are siding with Russia for no other reason than America is siding with Ukraine. So yeah, there is some truth to this.

However, do these leftists represent a popular view on the Left? Probably not, because there are no mainstream leftists that want Russia to win. However, on the Right, there are plenty of mainstream politicians and pundits that like Putin and want Russia to win.

#ThinkingThursday

  • The internet is as a town square. The radical <- left and right -> are like two groups of people shouting at each other, each trying to outdo the other in volume and vitriol.
  • The trolls are the ones throwing rotten tomatoes and disrupting the peaceful exchange of ideas.
  • Fringe voices often fear being taken seriously because they know deep down that their arguments and ideas are flawed.
  • They use anonymity as a shield to spread disinformation for their BIAS.
  • However, this radical centrist is not intimidated by their tactics.
  • I have access to a vast array of technological tools and resources that enable me to fact-check claims, verify sources, and promote quality information. Not to mention, past posting history, God Almighty, the treasure that is there. 😄
  • In just under 1 minute, I can sift through the noise and identify the disinformation, while trolls are left scrambling for excuses.
  • It's satisfying when trolls are baffled by a quick and effective responses. Do they not realize that some use the internet for more than just mindless rambling and spreading disinformation? Some of us actually work through remote 2023 virtual tools and ensure the productivity of organizations.
  • Keep running your mouths; you are all customers. Or maybe do something of value and contribute to the conversation, like starting an original thread.

Either way, thank you. I value your contribution to my ideas, even if you choose to keep running your mouths. 😎
