The founders of the US Constitution have precise terms - largely based on geography.

In 1971, Trudeau Snr proposed an amendment process giving the Quebec government - French North America - a right to veto any change to Canada's federal constitution. Bourassa, negotiating more, walked away.

Canada, what a country.

In this modern world, to change a constitution, why not require majorities among other large groups:

-If gay people disagree with the change, then maybe it's a bad idea

OK now I understand...and would agree with you.

I have no problem with gays; I object to their use of marriage to describe their living arrangement.

So what? In any case it sounds like your real objection is that our provincial laws in Canada also use marriage to describe their living arrangement.

Moreover, I fear that this abuse of federal power will lead to greater issues in our federation.

What abuse of what federal power? You said yourself family law is a provincial matter for good reason you even said.

It's difficult to believe you when you say you have no problem with gays and it also sounds like you may have issues with salad dressing.

Maybe you think laws made with federal authority are more real like mayonnaise and provincial laws aren't.

...it is worth noting that among those who voted Liberal in 2021, only 39% have a negative view of Pierre Poilievre, and 12% have a positive view – the plurality (49%) are neutral towards the presumed Conservative front runner.

I wouldn't be surprised if the surge of new members who signed up with Poilievre came from the Liberals.  It's gonna be Poilievre who'll end Trudeau's reign.

His ads are evolving to reach out to all Canadians......and, resonating soundly.

That video was panned on CBC Power and Politics a couple of days ago, and apparently has had more than 500k views in just 2 days.  It was the ad that Trudeau had tried to subtly respond and referred to while doing a speech with the German Chancellor.

The CBC is so clearly backing the Liberal hand that feeds them.  Major infringements of rights are glossed over or ignored by the CBC.  They’re searching so hard for a “white supremacist” brush with which to paint Poilievre because CBC brass know he’s got their number.  Fighting their propaganda will be a challenge for the Conservatives.  CTV, Global, and the heavily government-funded print media like the Star and Globe and Mail are also heavily politicized.  Thankfully young people aren’t interested in legacy media and are seeing their living standards vaporize under internationalist woke-green Liberal policies.

For sure. Why listen to or read legacy media when we have Facebook and Twitter image.jpeg.f30bb2c4201c762986849a82827b8b7c.jpeg

Lol - I'm surprised with Vassy Kapelos lately - like the way she tried to pin down Jagmeet Singh for backing the Liberals.

Could the CBC be following the footsteps of CNN?

CNN is apparently trying to become centrist, and getting rid of anchors who won't follow that new rule!

CNN president Chris Licht is set on “blowing up” the morning programming block due to poor ratings, a report said late Monday.

CNN is in the midst of a transformation led by Licht and WarnerBros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who are pushing the left-leaning network toward a greater emphasis on fact-driven and nonpartisan news coverage.

Additionally, fellow left-leaning anchors Don Lemon and Jim Acosta — also vocal critics of the conservative agenda — are said to be safe from dismissal for the time being.

CNN's poor ratings. Legacy of Trump!

I don’t have a Facebook account or use Twitter.  You’re really ignorant of social media platforms.  FB is a terrible state surveillance platform run by Zuckerberg, who is trying to get everyone to stay home and work on his creepy virtual office platform, Meta.

Twitter is heavily censored by its ideological board of directors.  That’s why Musk proposed buying it.

It is Canada’s problem if Canadian laws are discriminating against someone.   The Supreme Court never had the option to say “not our problem “.

The Supreme Court has no overseer, no supervisor, and can decide anything they choose to decide on whatever basis pleases them. That includes deciding to hear or not hear a case. In essence, they have absolute power to do as they please. with regard to laws.
