I’ve never seen so many vagrants on the street

Much more travel and distances and diverse communities and regions in Canada for sure.

"Rubberstamping" ,as you call it, is the same as in any other party orientated democratic country in the world. Yours is a red herring remark.

Feeble attempt at, well,..... not even sure what you are trying to convey.

Not really. Brit MP's often go against the party line. US representatives cannot be penalized by their party leaders for going against the grain. Party discipline plays a bigger role in Canadian political parties than most democracies.

Add that there are only two real parties and the meaning of this democracy becomes quite questionable. Democracy, not as a pompous democratic show but an effective ability of the society to know what's going on and keep its governments transparent, accountable and responsible.

Let's not forget immigration and our insane refugee system, both of which bring many individuals to this country with no ability to earn their living.

During a thirty minute drive today I encountered no less than FIVE median beggars, four of which were women in hijabs all holding up signs saying they were refugees and their kids were hungry. How many of these people are wandering around the city begging for money anyway?

Now, who has it, a well paying stable job to take the first mortgage in a mega million housing market? Make your choice a) MP b) some PS c) some high tech.

Now we see some early signals. Imagine at some point a budget crunch with PS budgets cut, massive layoffs. This would leave pretty much only MPs in the happy zone. Sure we will see more and more of it.

?

You put your name out there for an MP candidate.

I will vote for you, just so you stop your constant MP whining.

No, the cost of housing has gone up because our governments at all levels are corrupt and won't do much about it while speculators, developers, and banks game the system.

Cannot speak of UK party dissension. Not sure where you get that info.

If you go against the part you will most certainly be, at the minimum, chastised. At the most, completely ignored and become ineffective. The party has lots of authority to stall or stop any benefit to their jurisdiction, and they do.

Party discipline is the same the world over. Piss off your party or your chosen leader and there will be consequences.

Immigrants and refugees are not the vagrants. They get more than any vagrant ever will, housing, money for food and clothing etc etc. (from all levels of government)

Why would they do anything? What does it have to do with them? Life is beautiful, thank you.

One of the dumbest things ever said.

The government gets crapped on for putting on rent control. Can you imagine if the government starts to put price control on housing??

What exactly do you think the government should do if purchasers start a bidding war for a house?? Ban bidding wars. Disallow sellers form accepting highest bid?

What exactly do you think the government should do if a seller puts a high price on their house? Tell them to lower it?

What exactly should the government tell developers? Don't develop the land and infrastructure as required by local bylaws and go away? Lessening the available housing?

What do you want the government to do with real estate investors? Tell them they cannot do that anymore and there don't let them build houses??

Cry all day long about government oversight and control and now whining that government does not do enough??  Go figure LOL

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The day I see the first and only employee-representative"" saying no that's too much (or outrageous, etc) can't take it in good conscience I may think here, there may still be hope for this system. But, random materialization of a last model BMW out of thin air seems more probable in this state of MP affairs.

I propose a new democracy criterium: MP (average salary) to median single income in the country. Canada: 5. Norway: just under 2. Any questions?

That word is actually to not see, and make a deliberate effort to not see the glaring and obvious. This is not called "obsession" in any normal language; the words are: facts; factual comparison; responsibility (lack of); detachment; entitled, entrenched and grossly outdated political privilege system that cares to notice and respond mostly or only to itself.

The law of nature is simple: the more effort you make to ignore the reality, the stronger will be the feedback. Eventually. Exceptions are very rare, statistically.

It is an obsession, no matter how you try to disguise it :)

If you compare anything make sure they equal in all aspects.

Maybe you are just jealous you never will attain such heights that people would actually like you enough to vote for you LOL

Make speculation not profitableable, for one.  If you don't live in the home, tax it to where it is not a profitable investment.  Do the same for foreign investors.  This will drive down demand and thus prices since speculators largely won't be making bids anymore, especially in heated markets.

Also, cities need to cut the red tape for building.

Another dumb comment.

People get into business to make profit. Are you saying making a profit should be made illegal??

Businesses should be taxed so much they cannot pay shareholders?

Why get into or stay in business?

If you think it was just "speculators" or foreign buyer that drove up housing prices, you better shake your head and get that stupidity out .  It was the common person that over bid on houses and drove the panic buying,

Now, when the reality hammer came down, they are all crying and, I think may will default... deja vu early 80's.

You think government has to provide all the solutions.  That is Socialism and Marxism and is a failure.  That is why our housing situation is disaster and homelessness is rampant.  Only private enterprise can build homes and provide the massive amount of housing that is needed.  But government interferes with that in every way possible and makes private investors look elsewhere or blocks builders from building.  Socialism also destroys individual incentive or motivation to improve one's self and get a job.  Why work when government will take care of you and give you a cheque which you can use to buy a fix?  Liberal Socialism closed the mental institutions as well and put them all out on the street.  Socialism is the cause of our problems.

Governments would rather tax the people and hand out money to their favourite causes and thus leave the people with less money to invest in building homes and building a better society.  All levels of government tax and puts regulations and red tape on builders, construction companies, etc. that makes it more difficult or nearly impossible to get permits and approvals to build homes and apartments.  Government would rather tax and spend on things they think will win them more votes.  That is liberal, Social democracy at work.

Once again you prove you don't understand how a free enterprise system works and you think government control can provide the solutions.  Government IS THE PROBLEM.  Government only know how to tax, and control and block private enterprise from doing the job.  They destroy nations with their regulations and over reaching control.  Anybody that has any money to invest would go somewhere else that is business friendly.  Profit is not a dirty word.  It is what builds a nation and provides prosperity.  Otherwise you end up in poverty like Venezuela, Cuba and many other places.

Norway monitors everyone's purchases and if anyone is caught buying too much of something, government takes action against them.  Biden wants to do the same thing.  Sweden is thinking of bringing in digital monitoring and facial recognition of everyone now.  These countries are fast losing their freedom and falling under Socialist controls more and more.  The people foolishly trusted in government and allowed them to micro-manage society.  Now they are paying for it

Right and we'd rather give our circus sorry caucus MPs whatever they ask for their performances and things will somehow fix themselves. Like they always have, see?

Sadly, I get the feeling liberal, left, (Lib party, NDP) have no use whatsoever for people that believe in less government control and micro-managing everything in life.  They prefer the globalist U.N., WEF, etc. that are expanding their control of countries and depriving people of basic freedoms.   The reality is freedom comes with a price.  Not everyone will be rich and there will always be some poor people for various reasons.  But people have to decide what they want.  Do they want to blindly trust politicians and government with every part of their lives, taxes, etc. in exchange for promised security and social services.  All these things come with the price of the people losing their freedoms and becoming just puppets of the state.  That is what is happening now.

People demand more social services like dental care, pharmacare, guaranteed income, housing, etc. and the result is the population cannot even earn enough to pay the rent or put gas in their car because the system is becoming so costly to run.  They end up with some social programs but many must live on the food banks and many sleep on the streets.  So what has been accomplished.  Life is being made more unaffordable for millions of people because of government.

I am thinking of writing to my local NDP MP and telling him his talk about a dental care program for children will add billions more to the national budget while our health care system is failing us.  At least fix the health care system before looking for new programs to spend money on.  They are obviously doing this for votes and to appease the NDP base.

The people who want free dental care, pharmacare, guaranteed income, help with housing, etc. are largely not the people who have to pay income taxes. They also get their sales and carbon taxes refunded.

Why WOULDN'T they call for more government programs?
