PP is pulling big crowds as he appeals to the worker bees, he is more of a libertarian but other than the crypto currency thing I like him.

Pierre is no Radical

Poilievre, the adopted son of schoolteachers from Saskatchewan, was born and raised in Calgary. He’s got a pulse for what matters in Western Canada and a record of winning his Ottawa-area seat 7 consecutive times. He’s married to a Venezuelan refugee and is the proud father of two children. He’s smart, bilingual, the finest orator in the House of Commons, and well-read with a deep sense of Canada’s history.

This is the kind of public servant Canadians should want serving in high office.

Critics portray Mr. Poilievre as an extremist who presents an approach that is out of step with mainstream Canadian voters. Nothing could be further from the truth.

On social issues, Poilievre was recently quoted saying: “You can marry who you want, make your own personal decisions with minimal interference by the state and maximal freedom for individuals and families.” It’s as if Poilievre was drawing inspiration from Pierre Trudeau, who famously said, “the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.”

During this leadership campaign, Poilievre has talked about securing borders, protecting people and property from crime, building economic and public infrastructure, and providing for those who are unable to provide for themselves. He favours lowering the tax burden to empower all Canadians. In ending the war on work, Poilievre has committed to ending clawbacks, payroll taxes, and other penalties that punish middle-income workers.

He’s also articulated a detailed plan to speed up foreign credential recognition, including loans for nearly qualified immigrants to provide resources for credential testing.

As a Member of Parliament, he’s championed the rights of disabled workers with his Opportunity for Workers with Disabilities Act, building on the legacy left by former finance minister Jim Flaherty.

Regarding Canada’s First Nations, he’s pledged more control over land, economic opportunity, and decision making.

And on oil and gas — Canada’s greatest natural resource — he’s promised to remove the barriers that will bring these resources to market. No other reasonable country in the world would leave this much wealth in the ground, so why should Canada?

Poilievre’s plan is hardly the stuff of an extremist revolution.

But can he win the country?

Jean Charest was the real hero of the 1995 referendum. While Chrétien and the Liberals were making the sponsorship scandal, Charest organized a massive pro-Canada unity rally and got participation from people in all provinces. Charest would appeal to those voters undecided between Liberal and Conservative in an election. However, Charest is tied to Mulroney strings, I live in Quebec and while Charest was Premier, the almost entire province voted NDP federally and he picked a political fight with students resulting in university closings and mass demonstrations throughout the province.

Piolievre is the person most suited to lead this country.

Hopefully Brad Wall joins the federal party and eventually leads the country, or maybe Dr Lewis will be ready one day, but right now it's PP by a landslide.

I've been thoroughly disappointed in the Sask Party. They give the illusion of being conservative but are far from it

Good question.

West, I reckon that you confuse "conservative" with "libertarian".

What I see with today's "conservatives" is they'll toss their values as they are too afraid to be called names.

Liberals will liberal. I don't think critical race theory appeals to people outside the fringe left.

PP will destroy this country especially  east of ontario.  Charest by  a mile PP is  a slimeball and  basically a   trump jr.

The east coast is basically 'third world' . . .

It's predictable  that you'd dislike anything  that would disrupt that welfare state you lounge in for 60% of the year.

Why the 'slimeball' label for Pierre Poilivere when other contributing citizens of Canada would apply that moniker to you and your 'slack-assed'  life style?

PP is the strongest, most vocal critic of Trudeau's scandals and all of the LPOC buffoonery & stupidity that's ruining our country. There's nothing at all that's slimy about him, you're just a butt-hurt Trudeau apologist without any actual reasonable criticisms of Poilievre at all.

FYI the only decent, democratic operators in the LPOC stood up to Trudeau and left long ago. There's nothing left but scum.

Critical race theory is a farcical strawman that ignorant fools hold up and argue against and little more than that.  You'd be hard-pressed to find someone in politics actually promoting critical race theory, but that doesn't stop the MAGA window-lickers from fantasizing about this bogeyman.

As for PP, he'll not win an election.  He can certainly win the leadership of the the CPC based on the voting membership, but he's dead-on-arrival for winning PM.

Nonsense. Liberal MPs have said children must study CRT.

I think an obvious solution is "Stop doing retarded things".

Canada wasn't brken when Trudeau came here. He didn't have to screw around with things that were beyond his understanding.

Been there, done that.

Libertarians favour individual freedom. Trans, gay, whatever....

Progressives choose immediate change.

Conservatives favour slow change.
