I suppose the "Old Stock" need to have babies. Because immigration is an excellent way to grow the population and economy without consideration of your discomfort with being given a coffee by a brown person.

Maybe the "old stock" don't have too many babies for a reason.

And maybe the majority of them are against immigration and population growth.

But the planes keep bringing record numbers of people in.

I would definitely not support that.

I also do not want to buy a single Chinese product;  actually I am happier not buying any product if I can help it.

It's funny how the Conservative ethos has so quickly shifted.

Profits are for evil corporations. We're for the working man, assuming they're white. ?

Of course it was conservatives the called for deregulation that allowed Corporations to become so large.

"assuming they're white"???

Why...what an utterly Tweenkie thing to say. The Holy Race Card. Its old and withered now Bogus. Nobody cares.

I noticed many years ago in my travels, that "service" is a dirty word in much of the world. While we've come accustom to "service with a smile", much of the world produces "service with a sneer".

Canada needs a real leader who will shut down this tap of completely unqualified migrants once and for all.

"But...but...but...they're REFUGEES!"

Ya know what...Fuck the Gawd Damn "REFUGEES"! Fuck them. Fuck their free housing. Fuck their attitudes. Fuck 'em all. This is Canada. We built a very affluent nation and now Pixie-Dust and his doo-wop singers are diluting it by bringing in people who have FAILED at making an affluent nation. Why the hell should Canada want a flood of failures?

Hey the OP was complaining about being served by immigrants.

Complaining about immigration isn't inherently racist.

I personally feel that it's maybe not the best policy to bring people from the Philippines to work in fast food at less than minimum wage, to enrich a Brazilian company and their franchisees.

Well. . .

These fast food places can't find enough people to work at their restaurants.

Perhaps the inflation everyone is complaining about is required to pay the wages Canadians demand.

Indeed. By people who can't seem to get an order right. By people who, in may cases, hardly speak either of our official languages.

This whole Multi-Cultural thing is an abject failure. Immigrants need to have MERIT before they enter this nation and then they must ASSIMILATE into OUR SOCIETY.

To hell with Pixie-Dust and his attempts to dissolve Canadian Culture.

"Our Society" is continuing to evolve.

In the past Immigrants could come here with no skills and still find a livable wage.

But continue to complain about people doing the jobs that Canadians won't.

I'll repeat, maybe inflation is a good thing.

Immigrants came here...like my own grandparents...worked their asses off and raised CANADIANS! They didn't get free housing...they didn't get welfare...they went out, found work and made lives for themselves. They had kids who...were taught to be CANADIANS. Both of my parents being such CANADIANS. Hell my own wife, a migrant from Soviet Czechoslovakia, is now CANADIAN as are our 3 kids.

People will do the jobs. That argument holds no water. Its a cheap talking point.

"Our Society" is built on a century and a half of development. I do not want it trashed by our PM or by our immigration policies.

They also didn't need education to get a livable wage and could afford real estate on low skilled wages.

These immigrants also have children that do adapt to Canadian culture.

1.  Strawman.  Refugees get up to one year support, immigrants don't. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=098&top=11

2. What that means, I don't know.  Children are taught to be Canadian today but aren't taught the Lord's Prayer if that's what you mean.

3. 4. And yet your own wife is here because of immigration policies....

And who's fault is it that real estate is so expensive now? The same fine folks telling us to dilute our nation.

Many do adopt Canadian culture. I welcome them. Many do not.

1. Oh please. We all know by now that these "refugees" are in subsidized housing and rarely, if ever, get off public dole. https://canadafreepress.com/article/what-refugees-cost-for-a-family-of-five-but-what-about-our-own-people

2. No I don't mean the Lord's Prayer. I mean things like altering the uniform of the RCMP.

3. 4. My wife is here...because her and I went back to Europe and went through the immigration process LEGALLY! It cost me several hundred dollars in fees and having to leave my home. Now...were all these drains on our society to be sent packing with instructions on how to LEGALLY migrate here, I'd find that completely acceptable.

It is not unreasonable to expect that immigrants have gone through the immigration process to become Canadians. It is an affront to Canada and Canadians to bring "refugees" here, only to become life-long burdens on Canada and Canadians.

1. The article doesn't refute what I posted.

2. Institutions change.  Being Canadian doesn't mean not wearing a turban.

3. 4. You are conflating illegal immigration with refugees. I suspect it's because you have a poor argument and you think this will help. It doesn't.

5. Except, it's not really a reality. Vietnamese refugees have been here for many decades and are successful in canada. Hungarian refugees, refugees from world war ii... This has been going on for a long time. You're trying to make something out of nothing.. trying to push buttons. If you had facts and you wouldn't have to mush everything together in a mess of illogic.

I blame NIMBYs who refuse to allow high-density and medium density-housing housing nearby.

You can't legislate culture?

I'm more at home in parts of urban Toronto than in rural Ontario full of white people.

Foreign investment.

But also that it's expensive to live where people want to live.

Supply and Demand. Very free market capitalistic principals at play.

This is what immigrants do:  they come to Canada, become Canadians and raise more Canadians.  Children of immigrant families become indistinguishable from their non-immigrant peers in terms of their cultural attitudes and beliefs - that is, they become integrated.  If they're white, you'd never guess their parents/grandparents were from a different country.   This is what happened in your family, just as it happens in virtually every immigrant's family.

1. Okay, time to step in then.

Many will argue that legislating against Urban Sprawl and Bank regulations so that people can't buy homes they can't afford is socialism enough.

That seems like a bad argument. For one thing, I find it telling when someone responds to suggestions of legislation that it's socialism or other pejoratives.

Tim Hortons wants to have its own immigration policy, so if the government opposes that are they being anti-business and socialist?

1. "The government says refugees are supposed to become self-supporting within a year. But we have already a huge underclass of unemployed and unemployable people on welfare and desperately needing support systems that work. They need education and skills training sufficient for self-reliance. While many in the underclass of Canada’s disposable people are Aboriginals, a number of others burdensome to taxpayers are third-generation welfare recipients.

It’s inconceivable that refugees will be paying more in taxes within a year than they receive in benefits. If working at all, they’ll take jobs from native-born Canadians who need work. Heads we lose, tails those in need don’t win. Either way, the cost to taxpayers goes on forever."

2. The RCMP uniform is Canadiana. Changing that was foolish.

3. 4. No...I'm saying...and said...that if these "refugees" wanna be Canadian, they can go home and come back LEGALLY.

"Now...were all these drains on our society to be sent packing with instructions on how to LEGALLY migrate here, I'd find that completely acceptable. "

5. The Boat People. The first wave were educated and self-sufficient. The second wave were taken care of by NGOs and private citizens. The Hungarians were fleeing Soviet Russian occupation. The refugees were brought here and give a cash start...not endless welfare.

It has been going on for a long time...yet with differences. NGOs and LIMITED welfare. You and your sacred institution can claim anything they like. The truth of the matter however...is obviously a very different story.

Now I understand that the Czechs, Polaks and Slovaks are tired of these Ukrainian refugees. Urban just won his 3rd term in Hungary by a landslide.
