War In Ukraine

Thinks are looking bleak for Putin.

He's calling up Conscripts. All for a "Special Military Operation".

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraine-marches-farther-into-liberated-lands-separatist-calls-urgent-referendum-2022-09-19/

Russians are fleeing as not to be drafted into the firing squad.

So he'll stage fake elections, declare these regions part of Russia, and if Ukraine tries to take the regions back he'll Nuke them for invading Russia.

Those are clearly the actions of someone who's "winning the war". 😏

The mix between the Tsar and Stalin, Vladimir Putin's main statements (with GoogleTranslate):

– We must pay special attention to supplying Donbass with technology, with ammunition. Based on this information, we want to liberate these territories, Kherson, Zaporozhye, from neo-Nazis.

– There is a long line of military contact of more than 1,000 kilometers, and I want to say publicly that from the beginning of these operations there was a positive reaction to our proposals in terms of ensuring the safety of the Russians, but the West did not accept compromises and tried to he was giving us direct orders, so Kiev resorted to foreign mercenary groups, and their army was trained by NATO.

– You have seen the barbarism of the neo-Nazis.

– Mercenaries are torturing peaceful citizens of Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Kherson, there are over 500,000 people living there. Many were forced to become refugees.

– The people of Zaporozhye, Kherson, decided to hold referendums for joining Russia. We will do everything we can to ensure peaceful deployment conditions. People must choose freely. In these regions, all these people will be supported from today. The army acts and secures thousands of kilometers, defends them from neo-Nazism, from the collective machine of the West. We made these decisions that are appropriate for the dangers. We defend the motherland, the sovereignty. In the liberated territories I support these proposals, I support partial mobilization in these regions.

– I specify that it is only a partial mobilization, those who are in reserve will be enlisted, and those who serve in the army and have military professions.

– The partial mobilization decree was signed. The chambers of the Federal Assembly were officially informed, the mobilization was given today, on September 21.

– Regarding defense financial matters, we are determined to resolve them without delay. We always hear threats against our people, and some irresponsible politicians talk not only about providing Ukraine with long-range weapons that will be able to hit Russia. This is already happening, we are talking about the border areas, Belgorod. They use strategic drones, planes do reconnaissance operations, and Washington and Brussels want to move the military operation to Russian territory.

- And now we are also talking about nuclear blackmail, the Zaporozhye plant was hit, and NATO representatives said that it is possible to use nuclear weapons against Russia.

– We will use all means to defend ourselves. Russia should defend its sovereignty, independence, and we will do it by all means. They are trying to blackmail us with nuclear weapons.

Oh by the way this is the so called "anti-nazi" crusader: 😂

https://repolitics.com/forums/topic/42404-nazis-ukraine-russia-gru-dmitry-utkin/

A first reaction from NATO:

President Vladimir Putin will not win the war in Ukraine despite his order to mobilize thousands of extra troops, the secretary general of NATO said on Wednesday, calling the Russian leader's threat to use nuclear weapons "dangerous and reckless rhetoric."

Jens Stoltenberg told Reuters in an interview that Russia's first mobilization since World War Two would escalate the conflict and cost more lives, but the move was evidence that Putin had miscalculated since the Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine.

Funny how the Putin-lovers have gone radio silent lately. The 1 or 2 that still dare to post on this thread are now moderating their message to seem like they’re just neutral folks who just want everyone to get along, immediate peace “blame on both sides” that sort of nonsense.

The Russian troll farm trolls have cut and run from this entire site. The person who started this thread, @WestCanMan, has cut and run from this thread. Like Bush Jrs invasion of Iraq suddenly nobody can remember that they supported this invasion or the lies they helped spread to try amd justify it and they just wish nobody else would remember either

Today’s dose of reality

Russia Implodes After Putin Summons 300,000 to Die for Him

Vladimir Putin’s “special military operation” against Ukraine hit a turning point Wednesday—but not the kind the Kremlin wanted.

Instead, the Russian leader may have inadvertently put the final nail in the coffin of his decades-long reign with his bombshell announcement that hundreds of thousands of citizens will be called up to face likely death in the war next door.

While Putin’s most loyal allies rallied around the leader with calls for unity and defense officials bent over backward to provide dubious assurances to the general public, ordinary Russians rushed for the exits and took to the streets.

Airline tickets out of the country sold out within a matter of hours. There were myriad reports of men of conscription age being barred from buying bus and airline tickets, and human rights groups reported that draft notices were already being handed out to people at bus stations and train stops in some areas……

Yes, for the next two generations of Russians.

The economic hardship that awaits them, I think also the Chinese and the Turkish state elements can not wait, are like vultures over Russia if this gamble of Putin's does not work.

Right now there is a sense of solidary there in Russia. I don't buy the western images with the flowers and activists.

Majority of Russians have ingrained in them in my opinion the defeat of the Soviet Union by the West. Putin described as a "Trauma".

however the Tsar Nikolai II was loved too until the people went hungry.

Partial mobilization of a war they needlessly started 7 months earlier and are losing badly.  Aren’t you supposed to mobilize for war before you start one?

Russia can’t even hold it’s own against  a rag-tag military that barely even existed before Russia attacked. Russian troops are poorly trained, poorly disciplined and have abysmally low moral. Unless Czar Putin starts launching nukes they have no hope of victory and Putin will be forced from office dead or alive. And I don’t think even Russians are crazy enough to start a nuclear holocaust just for Putin’s poorly explained  “special military operation” that has no clear legitimate purpose or objective

It's not a popular move in Russia. But their leaders have never cared much about public opinion. That they view themselves in a much bigger war now is very troubling. How will that affect us? We already have troops in the Baltic. Let's hope they don't get involved. But perhaps it is already too late in Russia's opinion.

As for the details on the ground, we just do not know for sure. We are fed only what gets out of the region from one side. And the news is always either glowing success or emergency...send help!

According to the US Sun things don't look good for a war aged Russian male (or if you would prefer, cannon fodder) today.

Quote

DESPERATE Russians are frantically attempting to flee the country to avoid being catapulted to the frontline amid Putin's call up.

Huge queues have built at the borders with Finland, Georgia and Mongolia as tens of thousands try to escape being sent into the tyrant’s “meatgrinder”.

As the fear of conscription ripples through Russia, some men have been hauled out of bed in the middle of the night and told they had four hours to pack their belongings and obey the mobilisation order.

There were reports of people cowering behind doors and refusing to accept the military summonses.

In Luchegorsk, men who refused to open doors at night were handed the summonses when they arrived at work this morning.

Some 60 men were taken to Bikin, in Khabarovsk region, and sent into the hands of the Russian military machine.

Footage showed Russians enlisted by Putin's mobilisation being taken to training camps.

One man made a last-ditch attempt to escape the enlistment office in Blagoveshchensk by leaping out of a first-floor window.

Massive street protests too.

-More than 1,300 protesters were arrested in anti-mobilization rallies across Russia. According to OVD-Info, more than 1,311 people were detained in 38 Russian cities, with most of them being arrested in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

- Germany is prepared to receive Russian defectors "threatened with serious repression" , the German interior minister said in an interview published on Thursday, the day after President Vladimir Putin announced the mobilization of Russian reservists to fight in Ukraine, reports AFP.

and a Video of so called "mobilized men":

Your whole schtick is online insults and you whine about ad-hominems.

Your gullibility for obviously false and ridiculous Trumpist lies and obviously false and ridiculous Russian propaganda show you have no idea what reality is. So whenever you call something a lie that’s almost guarantee that’s it’s true.

EU braces for a wave of Russian migrants and says it will need a common position on their entry into member states

The Czech Republic however declared that will not issue humanitarian visas to Russians fleeing their country to avoid the mobilization announced by President Vladimir Putin, the foreign minister said Thursday, quoted by AFP.

So if you are a democratic thinking Russian, please don't go into Czech Republic. It seems their thinking is closer to Putin's than the West's.

I wonder if they will do like in China, when they catch a North Korean defector, they send him back to North Korea. What will the Czech authorities do if a family is feeling Putin? Sends them back to FSB?

Blah, blah, blah, there you go again collusion boy.

As far as this thread is concerned, the war in Ukraine is absolutely the result of NATO encroachment, the US absolutely was violating international treaties with their aggressive bioweapons research in Ukraine, and Zelensky absolutely is a fascist with an army that includes actual Nazis.

If you'd like to dispute any of those claims, go ahead, I'd love to see you man-up for once.

I eagerly await your snivelling and ad-hominem attacks.

Oh, the propaganda, the refugees, the migrants, the scare tactics, the "nuclear blackmail" (mainstream media LOL), the Russia sending in 300,000 "cannon fodders" which in WWII eventually led to Russian successes, the humanitarian disasters, the war crimes. The madness must stop.

Remember when NATO and the CIA use to have the balls to smuggle whatever fighter jets and weapons Ukraine would need into Ukraine to smash the tyrannical invaders threatening a fledgling democracy? Ukraine is and was a far-from-perfect democracy, but they were on their way as all democracies were at some time including Canada. When USA was founded it was because believers in democracy booted out tyrannical oppressors, when the democratic nations of the world stood up to Nazism and Commnunism we won, when Greece invented democracy they too stood up to tyrannical invaders.

Since when in history came the proof that it is required to broadcast to Putin exactly your plans for Ukrainian support? You just need to defend your democratic allies by any means necessary without cowering in fear and you will win.

Emotion over reason. You are dealing with tactical nuclear weapons in 2022. Is not Churchill's time.

Zelensky is a patriot for his own people and good for him as trying to get as much for his country.

The West also has a lot at stake I am afraid. Just look around, the chameleons, the populists, they are growing in numbers due to economic insecurity.

A bigger war can destabilize and give power to people such as LePen or Trump in the West. Yes, sounds good on paper, we are going to defend democracy and defeat the Russians. How about the political cost at home? Sure, sure, it is Chamberlain type of talk. "We" just have to show no fear.

There is a reason in my opinion why the war is being played like chess by a lot of heads at the NATO leadership. The other option is directly anyone can sign up for the Ukrainian defense forces online. I believe they have a system set up.

Good points and yes emotion is present. It is the democracy-inclined that are more emotionally encouraged to pursue victory and prevent their beacon from being dimmed than the oppressed are inclined to fight for a side they know may be immoral. I would prefer the Chamberlains booted in favour of Churchills for even when one has had to stand alone for what is right, one who stands alone for what is right will soon be standing with many.

Stability at home is only aided by defeating oppression and expanding democracy. When the West backed down like in Vietnam and North Korea, those nations faced worse fates than when the West persevered. Stability at home and IR are two different ballgames often without connection. The game of chess played by NATO is overly cautious when one removes the veil of institutions such as EU and NATO. Prior to the EU and NATO, democracies naturally and even unintentionally worked together to spread prosperity and succeeded.
