Well then it would be the government's fault for printing too much cash.

This whole Covid panic has been handled poorly all the way through.

Perhaps it was the excuse needed to get to this end game your speaking of?

Either way, the governments cannot be trusted.!

yes, the government is flooding the economy with cash

but you are already seeing the limiting factor on that

the inflation of the money supply is already starting to break things

but the real problem is the massive debt

because in order to contain the destructive effects of inflation

you have to remove money from the system

by raising interest rates

the central bank raises its rates

the banks then park their money at the central bank instead of loaning it out

and that will stop the inflation

it will however incite a catastrophic shock to the debt ridden economy

you will get a cascading default effect

and I mean sovereign defaults, whole countries going bankrupt

then you will be into a spiralling deflation, otherwise known as a depression

Which is exactly why I stopped saving money in the banks 2 years ago.

I have my savings in silver and gold.

yeah, that's the only thing that pays in a secular bear market / depression

and that will save Canada from going bankrupt

basically we are in a massive tech bubble

when that bubble pops, everything will shift back to commodities

oil, gas, gold, crops, livestock

so Canada won't default

Canada survived the Great Depression and it will survive this next depression as well

none the less, it will completely reorder politics in Canada, the culture itself will be altered in the process

bear in mind tho, in the near term, they are going to keep on printing money

whatever they say about significant interest rises is a bluff

we are going into a recession

so they will reverse course and go back to quantitative easing to try to prop the asset bubbles up

so in the near term, inflation will continue to be the problem

they won't tighten voluntarily, eventually it will just be forced upon them by the bond markets

the dollar itself comes under pressure, the currency itself starts to spiral

the inflation starts to burn everything down, demand destruction, people can't afford to buy things

this forces the central bank to cease buying Canada's bonds at artificially low rates

at which point the market sets the price of Canada's debt, at a much higher rate

this then gets passed through to you by the banks

resetting from net negative rates to double digit rates, will incite a shock wave of cascading defaults

then it becomes a spiral which is very difficult to reinflate, and that's a depression

on the bright side, the prices for everything will be in free fall

but that causes the economy to contract, resulting in massive job losses

so even if everything is cheaper, you won't have a job to buy things even at those lower prices

so this just feeds on itself, this is why it is so difficult to stop the slide once it starts

businesses will not get returns on investment, so they stop investing

this is sometimes called the Strike of Capital

and in terms of government intervention to offset the void

our governments are so massively in debt already, they just wont have the money to make a difference

so you're talking about a crisis which will persist for more than a decade, plausibly a generation

and that is how the culture will be altered upstream from politics

the historical analogy would be the Long Depression 1873-1896

because the Great Depression was shortened only by the Second World War

but we can't fight another war like that in the age of hydrogen bombs

so even if we fight a war, it's not going to be an industrial war

and post industrial wars are not job creators

in essence, we have been pulling the prosperity of the future back to us in the now

so we could live beyond our means in the now

but now we are starting to arrive in the future which we have already plundered

and there's no such thing as a free lunch, the piper will have to be paid

Harper governed as a centrist.  Show me one “right wing” Harper policy.  Sorry he didn’t seize property at gunpoint and redistribute it to commie layabouts.

Lol they called scientists terrorists pro oil gas which is right wing also Harper didn't give a damn about environment or Atlantic Canada also. As bad as Harper was he would still be better then Pierre who has gone off the deep end . Wouldn't be surprised if what happened to Boris Johnson happens to Pierre down the road if he becomes pm. Party will get sick of him and force the boot.

And For the last time Canada government is not commie Jesus dude incredible how people like this can even vote lol.

Oh no I can’t find my violin, the world’s smallest.  Harper was right about the pseudoscientists.  Also, Atlantic Canada?

Quaint  . . .in their backwardness.  Somewhat frowned upon like the inebriated second uncle at the family picnic.

Contribute nothing to the big picture, and after 300 years haven't mastered the English language.

And then there's you . . . . . . .

Atlantic Canada contributes alot more then you say it does dude

I am afraid the CPC will once again split. Mr. Poilievre represents the continuing hostile take over of the Party by the Socreds started by Preston Manning. Regardless the outcome, the party will either lose some of the Conservative wing or most of the Social Credit rump. If Mr. Poilievre wins the leadership, Prime Minister Trudeau will continue in office for until at least 2029.

I think PP has a good shot of beating Trudeau the more the public tires of him.  I don’t think Poilievre is a saviour.  In fact I’m concerned that he might take up the mushy middle as O’Toole did.  We don’t need another Liberal Party.

Do you honestly believe people will vote for a yellow belly coward who is afraid to debate? I can overlook his affinity for the bolshevik Socialist Credit party, but to throw away $50,000 of other peoples' money out of fear shows what kind of a Prime Minister he would be.

Queenie . . . . don't work yourself into a lather. Your Trudeau hid behind Mom's couch during the implementation of The War Measures Act against peaceful protesters.

I don't think Justin was even born when the War Measures Act was proclaimed.  If you need an example of Pierre Trudeau's courage, look at the St. Jean Baptiste parade the night before the 1968 election. I never voted for the guy, (I had a tiny part in his defeat in 1979 ?) but he never struck me as the kind of person who hid behind his mom's couch.

I just find it sad that the CPC would elect a Socialist Creditor as leader rather than a Conservative.

You know exactly what was meant . . . . The War Measures Act . . . by another softer name: The Emergency Act.

You can call a cow a horse, but everyone knows it's a cow.

Justin Trudeau is a coward and a traitor. You're afraid of change, and people like you are what hold this country back. Thanks, thanks a lot . . .

Trudeau is sinking. The man has ruined everything he has touch. The man can't even sell a passport.  I don't think the left realize the shit storm that is coming. The only hope for both the NDP and Libs is to dump their leaders soon. But I have a feeling a snap election is coming in the fall.

Why didn't you call it the Emergencies Act? I'm not a mind reader.

How is Prime Minister Trudeau a coward or a traitor? Mr. O'Toole would have been a much better Prime Minister, but Prime Minister Trudeau hasn't been that bad. He was able to build  all party support to fend off the Americans attempt to kill NAFTA and again all party support and all Provincial support to respond to the Covid pandemic. All my lather aside, I don't believe Mr. Poillievre would have been able to get all party support against the US and his actions regarding the public health emergency were less than impressive. I get the feeling some of the supporters of the Ottawa occupation would have been in favour of former Prime Minister Trudeau sitting down and chatting with the FLQ. What do you do with bleeding hearts who don't like the look of Police Officers enforcing a court order with reasonable force? ... "go on and bleed, but it's more important to keep law and order in this society than to be worried about weak-kneed people who don't like the looks of"... police officers enforcing the order of the Court.

you don't want a conservative to win

none are running

you can't even stand the thought of the least liberal conservative who's running actually winning

you see that as too extreme

you want a blue liberal cuck to win

the closer an actual alternative to the Laurentian Liberal consensus comes to winning

the more you cry bloody murder

classic Canadian fake conservative over 9000
