QuebecOverCanada
I love Québec and I would gladly live there for many years to come. It has its charm, but also its flaws like all things. A headline caught my attention today; Garderie sous gestion douteuse: le ministre exige un examen du processus d’enquête it translates to Kindergaten under suspicious management: the Minister requires an exam of the investigation process You don't need to know about the full story to get my point on this title. For me, this title of the article is revealing on how Québec is handled: With committees, counsils, investigations, inquiries, groups of experts, intellectuals, all thinking about "the process" and not going out of their way to be efficient rather than being protocolar. We have too big of a State, and it is getting ridiculous, up to a point where even the management of a kindergarten has several layers of government involvement and still, nothing is working, despite all the funding and all the experts working on the file. When you compare that with the management of Denmark or Sweden, we're the laughing stock of the world.

When you compare that with the management of Denmark or Sweden, we're the laughing stock of the world. I've seen this in other areas as well, the public sector. Bloated administration is a kind of social disease. If you don't take action against it, this is what happens. We pride ourselves on not having things like inheritance, but let's be honest, of course there is and it's embedded right in the fabric of Canada. The Prime Minister would never have been a PM if not for his father. And the failure of that in our system is now on full display. .... I saw what happened in hospitals from the later '80s to now. Administration exploded in population growth, like rabbits yet they were not good for anything. Like rabbits. These were now people "entitled" to have a nice job, as the majority of them come from well-to-do families. A doctor made good money on his lifetime, they were rich. His children were not doctors however. So he saw to it they got a job in the hospital admin. Easiest job in the building, but top pay. Of course they know nothing about nothing, and drag down the whole system. ... Like PM 1

Almost all of the province's Ills stem from that. It's insane to me but...that's Quebec. Edited February 27, 2022 by Nationalist
Queenmandy85
Any government operation is complcated by the fact everyone is your boss and they all know how to do things better than you do, but they can't agree amongst themselves how it should be done. And because, even though they voted for you, they think you are a liar and a crook, so you have to put all kinds of oversight and regulations just to make sure the operation is fair to everyone and no money goes missing and the contracts have to go to the lowest bidder but it has to be in their neighbourhood, even though there are a lot of "their neighbourhoods", and your bosses, (the public) want someone looking over everyone's shoulder so that needs extra layers of bureaucracy. Governments are inefficient because voters look at the government worker or public servant and think they are as crooked and untrustworthy as themselves. Anywhere you have money floating around, you attract pirates. Government is no different. It was that way when the Pharoes were building the pyramids. Queenmandy85
I saw a cartoon in the Geology building. A group of men in Renaissance clothing were looking at a drawing of the Tower of Pisa and one of them was saying, "If we fake the soil samples, we can save 50,000 lira." ExFlyer
New here and the headline caught my attention. Why is Québec so inefficient and poor? Well, in my opinion, Quebec is like the indigenous of this Country. Always getting everything it wants with no consequences.

If Quebec has problems with their government it's self-inflicted. They want their self-determination and the ROC has given it to them in spades. Any time they feel bothered they tell the ROC who then typically gives them what they want.

What a laugh that is. Quebec culture maybe LOL A world leader in technology? Another laugh. If any technology is there at all it is because the Canadian government gives incentives to move there or forces companies to move there LOL I am not being flippant, of course.
