Should the West Separate?

West

Recommended Posts

It is becoming increasingly clear the current Government does not represent the hinterland. Between carbon taxes which are crippling western industry, border mandates which are taking food off the table of the average Canadian, insults from elected leaders, few seats for the Liberals west of Ontario, and just a big disconnect with the "leadership" in Ottawa, leaders not honoring the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, etc. should the west consider demanding the same level of independence as Quebec and look at separating?

Hmmmm...its not like that. It really is a regional divide.  Generally half of BC is liberal, with the hinterlands being conservative.  It some ways it is city vs suburbs.  There are some extremes.  NFL is all in liberal.  PQ is a socialist province.

My concern is we still got reserves without clean drinking water while PM blackface blows our money on paying for private speeches from his family at WE charity events.

sigh are the west still crying? jesus i mean he bought a pipeline for you guys with like 4.5billion of our money..  what else do you whiny western people want?

The country owns the pipeline, not the West and the only reason we bought it was because we drove the company that was going to build it completely out of the country.

Private investors were lined up until the government threw in roadblocks ?

BC would never separate by choice but it would be difficult to remain in Canada with no land links to the RoC. By the same token the prairie provinces would lose access to tidewater ports except for Hudson Bay, assuming you could also get Manitoba to separate. Separation is pretty much a regional wet dream and would be bad news all around.

I would imagine they'd strengthen a link with some of the Midwest states probably down to Texas

bottom line governement stepped up to help  when it was gonna fail.  but the west always crys it's what they do best.

Kinder Morgan gave up after spending over a billion trying to  fight the likes of continuous failed court challenges from the BC government. They didn’t just sell the pipeline, they dumped all their Canadian assets and operations and left the country completely. They are done with Canada and if you don’t think other resource companies were paying attention you are dreaming.

So you would rely on a foreign country where you would have no say and really doesn’t need you. Brilliant strategy.

And the alternative is staying in a confederation that strangles your industry?

Most of our resources go to the US anyway.

Yes you are right.  If you are SNC Lavalin or pretty much any PQ company Trudeau is your best friend.  But try to win a contract against SNC and Ottawa will make sure you don't get it.  Your solution I don't back however.  Separation would come with its own host of problems

What about more independence within the confederation?

And the East do best living off the teats of government.

The convoy has shown the attitudes of the folks who are upper class. Bring them their fancy wine, their furniture, their caviar. Just shut up with your opinions about them

I have to be honest here.  I have lost all hope for Canada.  That includes BC.  Maybe Alberta and SK could make a go at it?  I dunno.  Thing is once the USA goes down the Xiden toilet Canada goes with it.  Consider what happened in 2020.  The left weaponized the electoral system and managed to steal an election in what use to be the largest free nation on earth.  The USA is now a banana republic and the GOP is too stupid to even realize it.  Republicans will NOT EVER win another federal race.  They are going to lose big time in 2022 because the Democrats have Dominion Vote Stealing Systems on their side.

It's shown what an ass hat Trudeau is.  He managed to out ass his own father, may the devil stoke his fire a little hotter.

It may be time to pack in Confederation. Not interested in living under dictatorship.

Yes but even so called conservative Alberta put the NDP in charge.  And I have to tell you every Albertan I have spoken to in person or on line have to been wild eyed leftists.

I think you should separate. You are paying way too much to us, and you are absolutely hated by us at the same time. Why would you stay in an abusive relationship?

Trudeau and the Liberals hate you. The NDP hates you. The big cities elites hate you. The Maritimes hate you.

You are being taxed to basically pay for our welfare.

It would be beneficial for us as well, because we'll stop being so inefficient with your and our resources.

I absolutely don't hate you by the way. I think you legitimately should get out.
