What is good in it? For which century? This is the 21st, trains are moving at 500 to 700 km/hr, in Vietnam too. It would be just over an hour, Montreal to Toronto, where can we see it, in what picture book? While MP salary at 5 times the median income and growing happily (unlike the latter). At what level, number is it too much? Who knows it and sets it? This is already stagnation, of universal prosperity, ideas, ability to do anything not trivial. Productivity and innovation will follow. Then, physical and visible decline.

True.  We need high speed rail and more economic friendly policies.

No you can't see it.  The MSM ordered the government to censor it. Or was it the government ordering the MSM around? It's hard to tell because these people really never make it clear who is in control of who or what - just that we can't be allowed or trusted to see what's happening.

Canada's right-wingers are a funny bunch, not as committed or dedicated as American right-wingers but still every bit as paranoid.

Canada makes less and less sense on sheer comparison. Sure salaries aren't as high in Europe but train ticket is 10, 20 Euros, not a hundred. Why would anyone want to take a one, two hour ride on a modern train and pay the price of an airline ticket (but they have lowcosters too). Few euros unlimited mobile Internet vs. fifty bare minimum and if in big luck. Rent, laugh or cry. The country no longer working for a median citizen, at $30 something K.

Do we understand that this wouldn't just go away after we bring in another few hundred thousand from all over the world? That this is a one-way ride into a dead end. In evolution, there's no endless thoughtless and careless ride without a hard stop.

Living standards and freedom are just about everything.  Both have declined significantly.

So funny really.

When you think about all the whining and complaining and protesting about loss or lack of freedom, yet here you (and your ilk) are whining and complaining and out on the streets, protesters running/driving/honking/demonstrating about no  freedon issues.

Thing is, if you really had no freedom, you certainly would not be able to do the things you are whining and protesting about.

You suggesting that denying one's ability to visit a loved one in hospital over vaccine status, 10 pm curfews over a flu bug as in Quebec, limitations on who you can visit and when, and denial of service over your private medical decisions are not lost liberties?

How bizarre ?

Typical Liberal elite refrain.  I guess you’re not a young person trying to buy a home or someone trying to climb beyond a minimum wage service job.

You don't have to ask him. Just look at those folks in the park stuck into their masks out in the open air for lifetime and that's the only visual illustration that's needed to tell everything. We are just two years into it, and guess what happens after ten or twenty. Or just look.

Get over it dude.

No one is stopping you now. It is over and has been for a while now. Living in the past will never let you move forward.

Hey, it is a choice and some will choose and some will not.

Guess what that is...Oh Shit!! It is freedom to do what you want.

Are you saying that the people wearing masks are not free to do so? Are you saying those not wearing masks are not free to do so?

Looks to me like they are free to do whatever they want.

Oh and, they have the freedom to protest/rally/demonstrate or not. Now that is freedom LOL

Time to move on.

We did damage? I did damage? Get over and out of your tiny little environment.

You have freedom you always had. You had and have the freedom to make a choice and you have and had the freedom to whine and you did.

So yeah, get over your butthurt ass and move on.

To address your edit. You are aware public transit has nothing to do with the governments? The union wants users to wear masks to protect their workers. Same as teachers, same as hospital workers same as flight crews.

Look now we know how to say these words! And it didn't even take ten years, only two with something. Amazing.

No but really: you honestly and genuinely believe that being scared to meaningless dumb and totally useless sh.t by incessant propaganda drumming is only a matter of "personal choice"? So any dictator can say the same, proudly? So Putin and Kim can proudly claim their "elections" too?

that's two opposing sides of the coin

Beavers & Mounties from Queenston Heights to Juno Beach

while Peacekeeping & Multiculturalism are products of the Cold War within the American Hegenomy

Beavers being Novelle France, Mounties being the House of Hanover

Peacekeeping & Multiculturalism being the Liberal Party of Canada Post National State

Post-National State is the most problematic aspect of Canada now.  Once the radical woke ideologues managed to hijack our institutions, the game became trashing Canadian history and culture as colonial, patriarchal, racist, etc.  Destroy traditions and institutions and the indoctrination can really begin.  Multiculturalism, in the time of Pierre Trudeau, seemed to be a way of containing Quebec ethnic-nationalism and making Canada more cosmopolitan.  Don’t forget that this was the era of Expo 67 and Canada’s Centennial.  It was a time of experimentation and a catapulting of Canada into modernization.  Trudeau was hanging out with Castro and John Lennon.  It was all in keeping with Nixon’s engagement with China.  The hippies would become the 80’s capitalists.

What we have now is a repudiation of Canada’s swagger. The Liberal Party of Canada under Justin Trudeau has thrown the Canadian nation state under the bus as an oppressive, colonial regime instead of a progressive emerging modern power, because by declaring Post-National State, there are no roots or fixed values to which we can hold.  Even our Constitution is on shaky ground.  Without a strong defence of our national identity and values, we are at the mercy of foreign powers, especially China, which has nothing similar to an American Dream of prosperity and freedom to protect.

Our politicians have to start defending our culture, institutions, Constitution, and prosperity or international organizations and foreign powers will fill the void.  Look at agreements like UNDRIP and the influence of the World Economic Forum and UN in Canada to see how much our sovereignty is being compromised.  Are your rights and property really protected in Canada?  Are you really allowed to hold views that run counter to those of our political leadership?   What can happen to your reputation and career if you hold views “unacceptable” to the Liberal narrative?  Too much power concentrated for too long in the hands of vested interests.

I do love it when they quote mainstream media or economist to prove their point though.

It actually validates those institutions, despite their feigned distrust.

Merely proof that they only agree with that which validates what they already believe.  Bubble-strengthening is all it is.

the 2008 global financial crisis incited a Communist revolution in the Anglosphere

the march through the institutions came of age in the great recession

a counterrevolution however is already underway in America

all this is simply spilling over the cultural ramparts into Canada as a proxy

first the Woke Communists took the weak & fractured Canadian Confederation in an ideological blitzkrieg

but now the American counterrevolution is spreading to Canada as well

hence the mass hysteria of the Laurentian ruling elites in their Toronto, Montreal & Ottawa ivory towers

Yup. Inflation is through the roof and people lost their businesses thanks to your paranoia.

And yes the airplane restrictions are federal through Transport Canada.

The Green-Woke Totalitarians are still trying to consolidate power, but inflation and restrictions have upset citizens across the West.  Marxist-nihilist beliefs like the idea that gender and biology are social constructs and institutions like family and national traditions are patriarchal and oppressive have confused and destabilized Gen Z.  I’ve never seen Canadians in my lifetime so resigned and disempowered as they are today.

Nice try.

It is you, as an adult, that decides what you should do and feel. If you decide to let paranoia and panic run your life, so be it.

You should be glad that Putin and Kim are not in your country otherwise you would be rotting in a cell for your whining and complaining.. Now that is freedoms lost :)
