There were many businesses happy to serve the protesters and who did so until the government made it illegal.  It’s a form of martial law when there’s no due process and laws are made up on the spot without Parliamentary debate then applied retroactively to crimes that were committed when they weren’t crimes.  How sick and Orwellian.  Would you like your previously legal activities to be declared illegal then be charged for crimes that didn’t exist?   How about we freeze your bank account and suspend your license to work as a consequence? No, the government gets no cover on this.  No way.  This is the behaviour of arbitrary totalitarian regimes.  If you want to pretend it’s a democracy, that’s one shit democracy.

What we witnessed was disgusting and I'm surprised people are defending it.

It’s the public violation of citizens’ rights and the humiliation of citizenry by a government.  We can’t unsee it or justify it, but the pain of realizing that this took place in a country where we never thought this kind of thing could happen is too much to bear for some.  Denial is easier.  Rationalize, deny, forget, turn the channel.  Enter Ukraine.

This is from your own article:

1) That doesn't mean "can't get one."

2) This means that his bail hearing review is set for later this month. This month being "April 2022", ie - 2 months after he was arrested. This means that by definition he is a political prisoner sitting in jail without bail

I thought that leftists considered putting people in jail during covid was bad, and they had to let out everyone they could. But I guess that doesn't include political prisoners.

Also from your article:

Considering that the path to being a judge in Canada right now goes through the LPOC, for sure there are lawyers who won't work with an enemy of the state. It's like being a lawyer for some Jews in 1935 Germany.

There's also the fact that the PM/Attorney General is the one who had him arrested, so the federal government will be pushing hard for a conviction, this is basically a guaranteed loss for any lawyer who takes the case, for a guy who doesn't have a crapload of money for legal fees. Hmmmm.

Still, nowhere does your article say that "he can't find a lawyer".

Thanks for proving that he's a political prisoner though.

Ha, he has been shopping for lawyers since Feb 18. Can't find one just for a bail hearing . A bail hearing... to get out of jail. He has not even been heard and keeps on coming up with "I don't have a lawyer yet" excuse every time he is before a judge.

He has no where to go. No one wants him back. So, he is getting free room and board courtesy of the city of Ottawa.

What a F'N loser LOL

Apparently there were thousands of protesters also crushed under the treads of tanks.

I'd post the youtube video I saw of soldiers hosing off entrails and blood but the msm/big tech/government agency responsible for what we're allowed to see took it down.

I heard that the tanks got so tangled up in the massive National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi) flags and Confederate Army flags that they couldn't run over as many racists and misogynists as they wanted to. They didn't even manage to get to those god-dmaned Jr varsity terrorists in the bouncy castles. Too bad.

CTV was there, they just didn't get good camera angles so the flags aren't visible. Their reporting is top notch but they really suck at proving anything. So sad.

The bail hearing is scheduled for later this month. It's the actual show trial that has been set back, according to your article.

Neither were 95% or more of the thousands of BLM protests involving tens of millions of peaceful protesters.

Trucker Convoy did a lot better

100%

BLM was infinitely more violent

yet the federal government never declared martial law over it

and never shut down the peaceful protests

Canada did

They didn't even call in an emergency when the natives were blocking the rail lines

The fact is, the bail hearings were a couple days after his arrest (just like the others). He had no lawyer.

There have been bail hearings almost every week since then and he has still not been able to show up with  a lawyer.

The date for the actual trial has not yet been set because he has no lawyer. As a lawyer said on local TV news , he has a "reasonable" time to select as lawyer and whenever the judge deems that reasonable time has been take an legal aid lawyer will be issued and he can take it or leave it.

You and WestCanMan keep saying BLM carried out violent riots in Canada but I don't recall that happening. Could you be so kind as to refresh my memory.

Are you honestly pretending to not know why people ended up in jail at the BLM riots? I'll give you a bunch of hints, because somehow you need them:

-Assaulted civilians.

-People beaten to death.

-Buildings looted.

-Buildings burned down.

-Police officers assaulted.

Again, where did this happen?

the American response to BLM riots

was far less extreme

than Canada's response to Freedom Convoy protests

even though the Truckers were infinitely better behaved

because Canada is a totalitarian shithole

and America actually gives a shit about free speech

unlike Canada and Canadians like you

Are you kidding me?

You honestly haven't seen BLMers beat anyone to death? You never saw any buildings looted by BLMers? You never saw any buildings burned down by BLMers?

Our PM singled them out as a group that he supports, so maybe you just blocked it out mentally. That's a superpower that all leftists seem to have - blocking out facts that go against their narrative.

Was this in Toronto? Montreal? Vancouver? Nelson BC?

If I had to guess, I would say you are confusing events that occurred in a foreign country with an illegal event in Canada. The occupation of downtown Ottawa was mischief, an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada. The few protests of BLM in Canada have been legal and peaceful, so far as I am aware. What occurrs in the US is as relavent as what happens in Namibia or Isreal, in relation to the occupation in Ottawa.

This tells me that you are a rabid ingester of mainstream media.

Definition of "occupation":

Quote

control and possession of hostile territory that enables an invading nation to establish military government against an enemy or martial law against rebels or insurrectionists in its own territory

Remember "occupy Wallstreet?"

They call it mainstream media because that is the media people read /watch. The reason people read / watch those media outlets is because they are usually reliable because they have professional journalists who back up what they report with strong evidence. When a news outlet makes too many mistakes or show overt bias, they are no longer credible.

Mainstream media told me this morning.that 13 protesters had been arrested.  They are protesting the cutting of old growth forest by blocking rush hour traffic: did you even hear about that from your oh-so-reliable sources?

I hear everything you hear, plus the stuff the government doesn't want you to know about.

Except for the drinking urine thing you brought up as evidence that people who don't take the covid vax are insane - I did not then and have not since, heard that one.

Must have been from one of your "oh-so-reliable" sources. ?

Is this enough for PM Justin Trudeau to invoke the Emergency Act?  After all it's just a matter of degree.
