Why Canadians re-elected a Liberal government?

Recommended Posts

I say give them that little Eastern Trudeauite power strip  we can see on the interactive map:

https://vancouversun.com/news/politics/election-2021/canada-election-results-2021-a-riding-by-riding-map-of-the-vote

and kick the them out.

The freeloaders in the Maritimes can join them if they want.

Do you think it’s realistic to think that any part of the country is going to break away in the foreseeable future?

No, they are bluffing. Western Canada saw how bluffing worked for Quebec. People are born Canadians no matter where they are East, West, Centre, Quebec. It is in their blood and soul from birth to death. When it comes to casting the vote they chance their mind last minute. In 1995 in Quebec referendum, polls were saying separatists are ahead by 5 to 6 percentage point but the actual outcome surprised everyone and that was last minutes reminder of blood and  soul Canadian.

I have a dream...:)

And that's where it begins.

We'd be doing so much better if we just kicked the little Eastern 'Progressive Socialist' power strip out of Canada.

Then how much would you suggest was needed to get people to stay home without driving them into poverty, while at the same time, paying for the added burden on the healthcare system?

We should never have shut down nation to begin with.  Had we not shut down the control I contend the number of deaths would not have been any different.  We reacted to fear mongering that said everyone would get infected and the death rate would be 2%

I’ve never heard of the Syrian refugee violence issue.

Do you have any information on it?  Some stats that show Syrian refugees tend to be more violent?

The time will come 20 years down the road as it has happened in Sweden and other European nations.  20 years time there will be roving rape gangs in our down towns by Muslim groups.

The Canadian electorate have short attention spans on the whole.  Not much digging into issues.  Trudeau wins on style and these days it’s about style over substance — and getting stuff.   There’s no thought to tomorrow and debt, no hard choices.

Canadians now love their dynasties.

Don't write off all the maritimes. Newfoundland do write off they voted majorly for the Liberals.  But Nova Scotia and New Brunswick gave the CPC a number of seats.

You mean its Canadian to give up?  LOL.  Indeed.  That's why separation will never happen.  Canadians are natural born quitters.

No. But if Quebec ever discovers oil, or figures it can do as well on its own, they'll be gone the next day. There is little affection for Canada there. There is no way they would share anything with Canada. If they became a 'have' province, they would demand the equalization scheme be renegotiated.

On the gun control question, it never should have been included in the policy book. "We support the ban in place."

Even though it's a stupid, unfair, incoherent list of hunting rifles which the government has suddenly made worthless after thousands of Canadians have paid thousands of dollars for them?

There is not a 'military assault weapon' on that list. There are BB guns, air rifles and hunting rifles with no distinctive features other than they've been pimped out to look 'sexy' to young males for marketing purposes. It's like banning a Prius from the streets on the grounds it's a 'racing car' because it has a spoiler, big bumpers and flames painted on the side.  There might be a handful of guns on the list who could justifiably be banned not because they are assault weapons but because a knowledgeable person can make changes which would turn them into assault style weapons. But that's it, out of over 1500 odd rifles, shotguns BB guns and air rifles.

Lots of ifs…. Not sure I can really do anything with “what if Quebec discovered oil”….  What if PEI discovered platinum?  Care to speculate on that too?

Merely making the point Quebecers are Canadians of convenience only, and will leave the instant they see it as economically viable without serious penalties.
