So, Libs minority or majority?

They already lost seats to the PCs in the Liberal stronghold of the Atlantic, so O'Toole seems to be outperforming what the pollsters were expecting.

The Libs would have to pick up seats against the Bloc in Quebec and/or the PCs in Ontario - O'Toole's home turf - to improve their situation. I don't think it's even remotely possible for them to get a majority.

Liberals winning, no surprise. We are in for more mismanagement and overall incompetence with this dismal so-called leader. More government overreach over our daily lives. I had a feeling back in 2015 that Trudeau might be near unbeatable mainly because of his name and his growing fan base. The blackface, repeated ethics violations and other scandals haven't seriously hurt him. I think this speaks volumes about the average low information Liberal supporter.

As an Ontario resident my heart goes out to the Western provinces which will continue to get royally screwed by the Liberals, business as usual.

You must love scandals and division. Thanks for chiming in with the informed opinion.

It's alright.

For Tories, I would be happy with the score.

O'Toole didn't f*ck up, the Tories maintained their ground and have not lost the popular vote.

The PPC did 5%. It's an incredibly high score for them.

Imagine a united conservative party.

At the time I wrote it, the Liberals were at 42% compared to 32% for the conservatives.  Right now it shows 31.5% vs. 31% , so I have no idea what the result will be.

Tories lost the number of seats.

But they won the number of individuals voting for them.

In summary they lost the election.

I have to mail O'Tool my letter of deep sympathy.

The Libs won 157 seats in 2019, this time 156.

They were down to 155 seats at the time of the election though, so it seems like they're +1 but they're down from last election.

The Cs are even with 121 elected both times.

We need Poilievre leading the conservatives so we can stand a chance in Quebec. Hopefully his 'family issues' are sorted out. If not Poilievre then Lewis.

Doesn't this mean that there's almost certainly going to be another election a lot sooner than in 4 years time?

Not necessarily.  the minority arrangement from the far left suits both of the socialist parties.  The right wing splinter party I suspect cost the country any chance of tolerable government as our so-called "conservative" party drifted back into the middle of the road and pissed off its base of support....led by a wishey-washy nobody lawyer.

the Conservatives are nearly identical to the Liberals

Canada never had that chance to elect a real alternative

the right wing splitter party you wrongly blame for that

was the only party actually offering an alternative, on paper at least

While my sentiments may mirror yours, reality is urban Canadians are socialists (add up the Lib/NDP/Green vote and get a number).  Max cost us the election, not the whimp Tool.

The Cons are socialists too

the socialists were going to win no matter what

the only non-socialist party running is not responsible for the socialists winning

that makes no sense

the only thing the Conservatives actually conserve these days is the Liberal agenda

dissapointed my ndp only seemed to gain 1 seat overall but a trudeau minority was the 2nd best option so i am glad with the outcome still. supported him in 2015 and 2019 but switched to ndp this time.. hopefully otoole stays on as con leader  he is more center  then someone like the moron harper was.. my worry is they will force him out and try to get some right wing   nut in there like pierre.

There will be another election in 2 years or less. Canada will be even more socialist by then but you should be pleased now since there is very little difference between the Liberals and the NDP. The current Conservative party is also left of centre.

If you are somewhere on the east coast of Canada I hope you are very thankful for the decades of massive financial support from the western(oil and gas)provinces.

yea and for decades before that the rest of the country supported them. it works both ways..  i would be more thankful to them if they weren't so whiny all the time.
