Ontario needs to invest in EVs as a realistic Option.

It is going to be quite some time before electric cars become more affordable according to Mercedes.

EVs Are Not Close to Being as Cheap as Gas Cars, Mercedes Says (popularmechanics.com)

This is going to be a very rough year. Governments are happy about skyrocketing gas prices so there is little we can do except wait till election day.

Which election day? The one that happened in September 2021, where the Liberals won a minority and are now being propped up by the NDP?

In Ontario, the Ontario PC Party reads the tea leaves and pledges to invest in EV infrastructure. It appears they'll comfortably win re-election. If they don't the Ontario Liberals pledge to further subsidize the purchase of an EV. DoFo got rid of the Ontario rebate for an EV.

This is a really interesting video about EV's which brings up some great points. Mainly that EV's are incorrectly called zero emission vehicles isn't quite true.

Well nothing is Zero Emissions. Everything we do has a carbon cost.

But if everyone drove EVs, Air pollution would be much less. EVs don't belch Carbon Monoxide.

The main fallacy in his analogy that people who opt for EVs MUST required a comparable range to an ICU vehicle.

A lower range is perfectly acceptable to many EV owners who use their vehicle for local commuting.

With the price of Gasoline nowadays, I'm sure many people will opt for having to stop at DC fast chargers every 90 minutes or so vs paying $2/litre on gas for road trips.

Developed nations are quickly moving away from dirty coal generating electricity. And even if the EV used electricity generating coal, they are so much more efficient that they're using a fraction of energy to an ICE vehicle.

If any Canadian is in the market for a new car, I don't see how a Hybrid or EV isn't something they'd want to consider.

The arguments against owning an EV, if you have access to a Home charger and can afford it are flimsy.

How about 'I don't want one'?

Gas prices are high by design. It sickening

Burning Coal is not the most evolved form of energy. Even if you don't believe CO2 from buring fossil fuels is contributing to climate change, it's still extraordinarily dirty. Air pollution is something you can actually see.

So yeah, not using it is a sign or progress.

So it moving away from the inefficient ICE.

I wonder what's in store for the worlds shipping industry?

Big polluters: One massive container ship equals 50 million cars (newatlas.com)

Will David Suzuki and AOC demand the switch to electric ships? Back to sails??

Ships emit way more than all the cars in the world..but we're still going to save the planet by forcing people to buy EV's?

It works well...the infrastructure is already in place...and if you bother to check into it, current technology makes coal burning generators a lot cleaner than you think.

Quit trying to trash the entire economy just so you can feel good about the air.

Ontario's done well without it. In fact only a small percentage of electricity in Canada is generated with Coal.

You do know the Gas price thing is global and there's a Cartel of Oil producing nations that influences prices right?

It would certainly help if certain leaders weren't so dependent on OPEC while having the ability to ramp up their own oil production to make up for the shortfall but they won't.

Joe Biden asks OPEC to up oil output while limiting U.S. energy production - Washington Times

Trudeau and Biden-domestic oil production bad, OPEC oil good! Let's bring that OPEC oil over here via those enormous ships(mentioned above)causing even more emissions.

It still pales in comparison to OPEC. It's a cartel. They're controlling global prices more than any Carbon Tax or Pipeline.

Does North America have the  ability to be energy independent with oil and gas? Yes or no?

Canada has the 3rd largest proven oil reserves in the world. The US was in the number 10 position and they did have energy independence under Trump.

I would blame it primarily on leadership and ideology. Venezuela has the largest reserves..but they went full-on socialist so their economy went down the toilet. The Saudis are number 2. They smartly exploit their natural resource to the fullest and I would wager they are also investing heavily in alternative energy sources too.

If we had competent leadership in Canada and the US we could seriously put pressure on OPEC.

But we don't.?

Better than you know. Here's the thing, when you get into globalist deals like ohhhh...buying and relying on Russian oil and gas, it's best to not piss said Russians off.

Also...when a POTUS spends his first day in office, shitting on the American oil and gas industry...things get weird. Prices begin to go up.

Couple that with an administration that is completely incompetent and...well...

Ya gits wut ya pays fer.

But hey...at least Trump ain't POTUS...

This has to be the ultimate in hypocrisy!

A Formula 1 driver shows up at the Canadian Grand Prix wearing an anti oilsands shirt. While his team is sponsored by a Saudi oil company. What an complete hypocrite and then some!!

F1 driver Sebastian Vettel arrives at Montreal Grand Prix in anti-oilsands T-shirt (msn.com)

Yet another example of an elite telling us "Do as I say, not as I do".

Hey Vettel! What's the total carbon footprint of Formula 1?? Where are those EV Formula 1 race cars?

So Keystone is causing Global Oil Prices to surge? I find that hard to believe.

Again, this isn't a US or Canada only problem.

The F1 cars are Hybrid and they don't refuel mid-race like they used to.

I'm not sure what Vettel did has anything to do with EVs.

The Tar Sands are a particularly dirty way of extracting Oil.

This shows your inability to converse on topics without descending into immature rhetoric.

Even if 100% of Canadian power was generated with Natural Gas, it would still be better than Coal.

A country, like Venezuela, who solely depends on oil for their revenue are at the mercy of prices.

The Saudis boosted production and dropped the prices to elbow the Tar Sands out of the market because it's only profitable at a certain price.

Energy independence is one thing, but the global price is another. No one here is importing oil from Russia, but because much of Europe does, that's what effing up Oil Prices.

AND Oil companies refuse to boost production because they're enjoying all the profits without having to actually ramp up production.

Blaming this on environmentalism is serving as being a useful idiot for OPEC and large Oil companies.

You're clearly living in LalaLand.

A fantasy created for you so you can choke down the destruction of the global economy.

I feel sorry for you.
