MP Jagmeet Singh's Hypocrisy on Domestic Terror

Recommended Posts

All murder is terrible. All hate crimes are horrific. There should be full and thorough investigations into any individuals and/or organizations involved in violence. Full stop.

The government and politicians should not engage in race-baiting and fear mongering in order to divide the country and to inject hatred into society. Take a look at how MP Singh looks at crimes in Canada. Ask yourself, is this an objective approach or do they seem to be selling fear.

There were two horrific crimes against Muslims between 2010 to 2020.  A stabbing at a mosque in Toronto and a shooting in Quebec. This prompted numerous “hate groups” to be labeled domestic terrorists and we were told of the grave threat by Nazis.

Mosque Stabbing

The Toronto case is ongoing and there has been no proof, as of July 2021, that this was a hate crime or that any organization was behind this attack. There is speculation that the alleged attacker had an interest in social media sites that are linked to racist ideologies. Nothing proven, yet.

This, and the Quebec horror, prompted MP Singh to go on an anti-White Supremacists crusade. He labeled Nazi groups and White Supremacists as the biggest threats to Canada. These two events were his evidence. Although, no link to any specific group was ever suggested.

Quebec Shooting

Alexandre Bissonnette horrifically shot and killed six people in 2017. There were reportedly allegations of online behavior that suggested anti-Muslim sentiment. No evidence has ever been presented to definitively link the shooter to any Nazi, or hate, organization. There is reportedly information to suggest that this was linked to mental health issues, not Islmaphobia.

As a result, politicians, led by MP Jagmeet Singh, started throwing names of organizations onto the domestic terrorist list.  No information was ever presented to show how these groups were a threat to Canada or how they were linked to these two terrible crimes. Everyone played along and no one asked any questions.

The reason why no one asked for evidence or an explanation is probably because asking for evidence is proof that one is racist. Don’t believe me? Ask Bloc MP Therrien. His crime? He wanted to review a report prior to speaking to, yet undetermined, findings.

"We consider it inappropriate to impose findings to a committee before it has conducted its study. We respect the parliamentary process," Bloc Whip Claude DeBellefeuille said in French at the time.

MP Singh’s called MP Therrien a racist for not following MP Singh’s order to “acknowledge systemic racism in the RCMP”. No evidence was submitted other than Singh’s declaration and an investigation had bveen launched but the findings were pending. The NDP leader’s position is clear. Do what I say, vote how I say, or, you are racist.

"Yes. I've said it really clearly. I repeat it really clearly," Singh said. "Anyone who votes against a motion that recognizes the systemic racism in the RCMP and that calls for basic fixes for the problem … is a racist, yes." Again, the investigation was ongoing and no evidence to support the presence of systemic racism had been offered, by anyone.

Obviously, there are laws preventing racism in the RCMP and internal and external forums within the system to address any allegations so the evidence of how the system is racist, remains unclear.

How do Politicans react the other way?

In 2017, Marissa Shen, a 13 year old, was brutally murdered. The suspect was Ibrahim Ali- a recently arrived Syrian refugee. This happened in MP Singh’s backyard of Burnaby, British Columbia. He seemed to care more about the Toronto stabbing than he did this 13 year old girl despite his obligations to his riding.

MP Singh’s response to the Shen murder also seems to contradict his reaction to incidents involving White suspects/assailants.

Singh:

“To use a horrible incident to incite violence or hatred against an entire community is wrong; It's not something we should do as a society,” Singh said. “When people use a horrible incident to incite violence, they're effectively saying that refugees are murderers.”

PM Trudeau responded first by saying violent crime — and what the Shen family has gone through — is a “terrible tragedy, and we have a judicial system, we have a process through which to go.”

Trudeau is right. There is a process. Politicians should not speak about ongoing investigations or court matters. However, he did not apply that approach with regards to the London tragedy of 2021. Trudeau and Singh were both quick to openly declare that terrorism, with no facts or evidence.

Danforth Shooting

The Danforth tragedy in Toronto.  Trudeau and Singh did not evoke race or religion because the suspect was a Pakistani, Muslim. Each sent a quick tweet, but no public grandstanding or calls for action.

2020 Toronto Terror Attack

Saad Akhtar allegedly killed a 64 year old woman with a hammer due to his support for ISIS. Domestic terror charges were laid against the suspect. Politicians were quiet on this one.

2021:  Toronto Police Service’s Jeffrey Northrup

A Toronto Police Officer,  Jeffrey Northrup, was killed in the line of duty. The suspect is Umar Zameer, 31. MP Singh and all politicians are quiet on this.

London Car Attack: 2021

There was the awful, sickening report of an attack on a Muslim family in London, Ontario. There was an immediate reaction by MP Singh. He demanded for action and declared this a hate crime and a terrorist act.

Jagmeet is a lawyer and is familiar with due process and procedural fairness and Charter rights yet he made these claims without any court finding. Consider his comments with regards to 13 year old girl murdered in his own riding. The lawyer cried out to not “incite violence” and to not make assumptions on a group based on a single action. Yet, in this case, he was quick to find someone guilty and to find them “racist” and a “White Supremacist”.

No one knows anything at this point. There is speculation that the suspect had close Muslim friends and potentially had mental health issues but the facts need an opportunity to be heard. We do know that MP Singh reacted very differently when the suspect was White.

Check out his speech on how racist Canada is, less than 24 hours after the tragic news broke.

Closing Thoughts

All of the above crimes are terrible. No one can defend any of them. In a population of almost 40 million and PM Trudeau wants to make it 90 million, we can expect outliers and disturbed people. This is a sad reality.

But, does it seem MP Singh treats the crimes differently? Treats White people differently? In a positive way or a negative way? What do you think? Is he selling fear? Trying to divide and create hate? Let us keep the conversation open and honest. Use facts and evidence, not hysteria and race baiting.

The NDP and the Liberals will NEVER open up race based crime data. This is because the facts will show that males, aged 18 to 35 from one demographic (unnamed) make up less than one percent of Canada’s population yet are either victims or suspects or convicted in over 60% of all fatal shootings across the country.  But, that’s not concerning to MP Singh or anyone else. We should keep adding “White Supremacist” organizations to our terror list. That will keep us safe. And, no one should question this approach.

The ultimate hypocrisy is the fact that Singh is a terrorist supporter himselfhttps://nationalpost.com/news/politics/as-jagmeet-singh-condemns-terrorism-second-video-shows-him-speaking-alongside-sikh-separatist

This isn't a case of "the white bogeyman". This is a case of Singh himself speaking alongside actual terrorists like it's no big deal.
