China turns Uighurs into slaves picking cotton

No doubt Jean Chretien and John Manley and all their Liberal party, Laurentian elite comrades will just chuckle and wave that off. It's not like any of them have any morals, ethics or values, after all.

China is forcing hundreds of thousands of Uighurs and other minorities into hard, manual labour in the vast cotton fields of its western region of Xinjiang, according to new research seen by the BBC.

Based on newly discovered online documents, it provides the first clear picture of the potential scale of forced labour in the picking of a crop that accounts for a fifth of the world’s cotton supply and is used widely throughout the global fashion industry.

People are paying attention to forced labour - the US and other countries are sanctioning it.  Not sure about Canada.

If you are really against China's record a first step would be to share that article and the list of common brands.  Capitalism actually can be leveredged against abuse.

Apple, Esprit and Fila didn't respond to the query from these folks.  I am going to bypass Fila sneakers next time I go shopping.
