but you seem to be arguing something other than US politics here. not sure what the point is, the US is not an oil exporter so if one were American then you'd think that restricting imports and finding a way to circumvent that need in order to restrict imports would be a good thing as every barrel of oil coming in is money going out.

The U.S. export lots of petroleum and distillates to over 150 countries, and became the world's largest producer during the Obama/Biden administration, mostly due to fracking and oil leases on federal and private land.

President Biden will try to stop fracking on federal land, but cannot limit drilling on private land without Congressional (House & Senate) support.   Most of the federal land is in western states.

i stand corrected... i didn't realize that so much oil gets imported just to be processed and exported again.

https://www.api.org/news-policy-and-issues/blog/2018/06/14/why-the-us-must-import-and-export-oil

the US gulf coast gets all they need at the moment. now that alberta has been convinced to buy the project then its only really an issue for the alberta government now. the benefits to the US population are debatable. the loss to alberta is apparent.

but this information shows how nuanced and complex these issues are. this detail provides that people aren't going to be oil-less in north america anytime soon so any passion about the oil economy disappearing is misguided. again, except in alberta where some thought that $100 barrel oil was going to last forever... and now they are left to beg for a lousy $2 a barrel more.

The economics of petroleum/bitumen production, transport, and refining favours the path of least expensive resistance.   Canada exports to the U.S. only to import about 1 million bpd along with Saudi oil to the East.    Some provinces refuse to accept new or upgraded pipelines so there has been more flow north-south than east-west.

Keystone XL was more about getting additional Canadian bitumen to the Gulf refineries for export abroad, with the Americans getting a value added premium as profit, same as they get for sending product to Canada's east.  It is curious that many Canadians consider Biden's permit cancellation to be Alberta's problem alone....Americans do not typically segregate petroleum projects by state if only because interstate commerce laws prevent that.

Canada retaliated much harder against Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs even though the impact was far less.   The Liberal government has no seats in Alberta and little political interest compared to jobs and votes in Ontario/Quebec.  So more bitumen will be headed south by train instead, a plus for rich guys like Warren Buffet.

Gee, maybe you're right Beave. Maybe political witch hunters like Mueller and his backers and wire tapping criminals like Obama were kind of dumb, and most likely evil.

Uncustomary astute observation, Beave. Good one.

Given that you just called a well-known and notorious villain  “an American hero” I think we can all continue to dismiss your observations and musings as ignorant and uninformed.  This might have to go on your list of  “greatest misses” along with some of your previous  pearls of wisdom :

-slavery was actually quite comfortable that’s why we have so many black people

- there were just as many white slaves as black slaves

-rich people don’t have any advantages over poor or working class people, they’re simply genetically superior

- When Heather Heyer was run over by a speeding right wing white supremacist in a sports car and died immediately, getting hit by the car had nothing to do with her death, which was actually due to an obesity-caused heart attack that by pure coincidence happened at the exact same second she was stuck by the vehicle.

keep spewing your nonsense it never ceases to entertain!

Is there a separate thread about how the Canadians are reacting ?   They are "reacting" a lot to Biden's decisions on KXL, COVID vaccine availability, "Buy American", "hate speech" on American social media platforms, snowbirds going south, etc., etc.

...just like Canadians always do.   They take this crap so personally !

I also said noticing McCarthy was right when he noticed Soviet Communists were operating hidden in DC was a counter-troll to a trolls remarks.

And speaking of trolls, none of what you say is true. It's either flat out false or massively warped to take out of context. You're another troll who's just trolling again when you lie like that.

Calling Joseph McCarthy an "American hero," is like the Norwegians calling Vidkun Quisling a "hero." Infidel Dog's hatred of anyone not on the far right blinds him.

Anyone who speaks of Joseph McCarthy in high regard, either knows nothing about American history, or has no idea the harm that the late senator did to thousands of innocent Americans.

It should be noted that just like Rudy Giuliani, McCarthy was suffering from alcoholism, for the complete duration of his "communist" witch hunt.  Incidentally, Roy Cohn, a New York lawyer who happened to be McCarthy's chief counsel during the hearings, later went on to mentor a young Donald Trump.

Well, I do know it's a troll when a leftist tries to hijack a thread about Biden (who's not doing too well so far) by diverting to McCarthy. Especially after ignoring the topic of McCarthyism and witch hunts when the Dems were Witch Hunting Trump and his supporters as what they called a fascist and a racist for 4 years.

Come to think of it, you're still doing it.

I think it's legitimate to wonder about Biden's connections to Communist China.

Personally though, I think the guys who are actually pulling his strings are usually more Money Managers, Corporatists and Globalists but there are Progressive Socialist and even Marxist elements operating as stooges and even a thug arm (antifa, BLM) for the movement Bejing Biden figure heads.

But, come to think of it Biden's real puppet masters don't mind dealing with China either.

I'd think of that more as thread relevant complaint than diversion.

Speaking of Biden's real bosses have you heard about how Wall Street is whining because average investors have banded together to put the kibosh on their short-selling, hedge-fund schemes where they gamble in hopes of economic failure?

Well this is interesting...

Quote

Joe Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has made over $7 million from speaking at Wall Street firms including Citadel – which has invested billions of dollars in the primary hedge fund now suffering as a result of the GameStop stock surge.

Biden is a crook who pedals his influence for money to America's foes.

Including Communists.

Hypothetically, if Biden is a crook, what would Trump be, considering he is 1000x more corrupt than any American President in history?

How does one have zero connections to a country that will overtake the UNited States as the World's largest economy by 2030?

Biden is a crook. Plus you'd never ever leave your kids anywhere near him.

I'd rather have my 13 year old daughter alone with Biden, who is known to be overly affectionate to people, that at the absolute worst, is cringe-worthy than Trump, who made routine visits to the Epstein mansion, where girls as young as 14 years old were being pimped out to rich and powerful men. It should be known that Trump is also a habitual rapist.
