What are the Liberals trying to hide from the AG?

Recommended Posts

The Auditor General's office has been begging for more funds for quite some time now, not much given the hundreds of billions the Liberals are tossing out the door, just $10 million. The Liberals have refused to address his request, and refused to answer any questions from the opposition about it. The AG has had to put off five audits his office was scheduled to do, and now they're so short of funds it will be impossible to probably examine where the Liberals are directing all that money supposedly intended to fight the economic malaise caused by the Covid19 virus. Given the way the government is acting on this file that appears to be their intention. Masses of money are going out the door in every direction and parliament is closed down for some reason, which makes it very convenient for the Liberals. Even more convenient if a party known for its corruption has no AG oversight.

They obviously have a lot to hide which is why they don't want Parliament to meet,  but when the Toronto Star calls for restraint you know there's a problem

Trudeau has lied AGAIN to Canadians in Parliament. He said 'from the beginning of the pandemic' Parliament had sat once a week & twice a week virtually. Liar. The pandemic was announced 11 March, first virtual sitting wasn't until 28 April.

Has anyone else noticed Trudeau has changed Wednesday's QP to The Special Committee on COVID-19?    Now it is a Trudeau dictatorship, the somewhat balanced, more moderate Liberal Party of the centre disappeared with Trudeau who brought a radical move to outflank the NDP while mollifying green radicals putting some Liberal realists at odds with a Party they no longer recognize.

The British parliament is still in operation. Australia's parliament has not shut down. The US Congress is still functioning. The French National Assembly continues to operate as does the Italian Parliament. Why is Canada's parliament shut down?

Because the Liberals like it that way.

I know we like to think we're more functional than the Americans with out politics, but if we look back at the Harper pro-rogueation (sp?) and how the Liberals protested that to no end, and now see the Tories whining about how parliament is shut down and has very little oversight...it all comes full circle.  Both parties are pathetically hypocritical, though I find what Trudeau is doing very concerning.  He's riding high in the polls somehow with his marshmallow-nothing speeches, and using that popularity to bypass normal rules and oversight.  I understand that we want to just get things done right now, but these are pretty blatant attempts to marginalize both the opposition and their duties/methods of oversight.

Chretien made Harper's prorogues look chintzy but neither of them took away the right of the opposition to ask question or  allow MPs to compel the government to produce documents or to get witnesses to testify. The whole thing is a sham, just a platform for Trudeau to continue subverting democracy.

ROFL @ Trudeau currently having no, Conscience, in his relentless deranged obedience to the USA Dems' CoronaVirus instruction manual.

Trudeau gov is shutting down Parliament for the summer.  As the country starts to re-open, they go on summer vacay, while we're in a state of emergency and we're spending more money than we've ever spend in our history.

Reportedly, parliament will be temporarily recalled in the fall in order to approve $150 billion of govenrment spending. They will have just 4hrs to scrutinize this before voting.

The Liberals are far ahead in the polls, so they would likely welcome losing a vote on a money bill so they could call an election.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but how do they lose a money vote with a majority?  I agree they're being cavalier with how they're standing in the polls, but I think it's a stretch to say they're hoping to sneak a no-confidence vote.

Honestly, if their plan is to just work for 4 hrs over the next few months, and they're just there to get $150 billion more to spend, that won't sit well with Canadians.

They're a minority gov't.

The BQ has propped them up a couple times, and the NDP propped up their last vote to take a couple more months off (typical of lazy socialists), but the Libs can't do anything without the aid of some muppets.

If they take a position which outrages all the other parties they would lose a vote. They just have to choose a position which doesn't outrage Canadians. For example, if Trudeau drops this quest for sick leave with minimal effort, the NDP will be fuming and feel betrayed. Then Trudeau could do something to piss off the BQ too, maybe along the lines of interfering in their rules against religious garb. That could be portrayed as something noble to the media.

One step closer to that basic dictatorship Trudeau loves.

Whoops.  I forgot they're a minority.
