And of course then there's the money.  Trudeau Jr's government has borrowed hundreds of billions to fund his strategy of throwing money at any group that bleats for it during this 'crisis'.  I have not heard one single report by Canadian media mentioning this, or calling it anything but "new funding".  Nor has any Canadian media done so much as add up the various programs and given the number of total debt the Liberals have spent on Covid.  That's because the Canadian Media, by and large, like Trudeau, so they are downplaying anything that might hurt him.  It's kind of disgusting that our media, which is supposed to be a watch dog for the public good are instead of working as a propaganda arm for the Liberals.

When the second wave hits in the fall, is Trudeau going to give the reigns of the country to the medial moms again(all of the head medical appointees seem to be women, another odd, sexist strategy) and allow the country to be shut down?  If he does, we'll probably approach a trillion bucks of Covid debt, which will eat up tax dollars just to service the debt.  I've never heard of an economy that's been shut down twice and come roaring back as if nothing happened, it's just not reality.  If they kill the golden goose, and the economy stutters long term because of it, they'll probably just borrow more until our credit rating is shredded.  As soon as interest rates go up, it'll be fun times.

One Canadian report was that 471 billion has been borrowed so far.  When an actual crisis does hit Canada, like flooding or some other natural disaster, there will be no credit left to borrow with.   THEN, Canadians will wake up and throw the bums out, after all the damage has been done.

Jester Trudeau pissed away a mountain of tax-payer $$ before the Covid crisis, alienated the western provinces, cleaved this country along regional-economic-racial lines, and spooked-off any serious investment.  A wonderful leader. A traitor.

This government looting the people seem to be consistent in many nations.  Hmmmm.

Agreed.

The only redeeming quality that the leaders who failed us in the fight against covid "might" have, is if they received near unanimous agreement from their medical experts that a stronger version of covid would come back around in the fall, and they wanted their population to have some herd immunity to it.

I admit that's a pretty lame and unlikely story, and if it's true it is essentially gambling with human lives, but anything is better than "we're so stupid that we didn't think closing the border was a good idea, and we thought that masks really were bad" lol.

You obsess about closing the border, but doing so earlier would not have stopped Canadian snowbirds from coming home and visiting elderly relatives without isolating first, nor health care staff returning from holidays and going straight back to work in Long Term Care without isolating, nor PSW's forced to work in 2-3 LTC homes to make a living wage.

Your xenophobia has you pointing your finger in the wrong direction: The virus came home with Canadians. The problem was not borders but lack of isolation of returning Canadians, and lack of proper staffing conditions in LTC.

Alberta alienated itself, refusing to see the writing on the wall.

Some economies were shut down like that during the Spanish Flu. Those who didn't or were lax in doing so were still lagging behind those who were more careful 5 years later.  Virtually everyone's credit rating will be shot so no one will be jacking up interest rates.  In any case what does one say about all the suckers that keep lending us all this money anyway?  Is that why birth rates are so important, if they fall to less than one a minute some sucker per minute to GDP ratio wipes out our rating?

Yup, first thing we'll do is elect a bunch of cheerless coupon-clipping fiscal-conservatives full of moral admonishment for borrowers and bailouts for poor lenders burdened with millions of foreclosures. To save the economy they'll have to destroy it then unload everything to a handful of billionaires for a $1 an acre.

Sounds like a plan alright.

jacee you're beating a dead horse. Idiot Liberals lost this argument a long time ago, and Dr Tam even admitted it.

Bringing some Canadians home and quarantining them wouldn't have led to 7,500 Canadians dead, and the absolute economic carnage that we face now.

What proper logic or reason gives you the impression that blocking travel from a covid hotspot like Italy or China is xenophobic?

Are you giving lessons in what bigotry looks like? Have you finally seen enough of it in your mirror to really know what it looks like?

This is idiocy. You think you have proof that only returning Canadians brought covid over? Lol. your posts are priceless, in their own way.

Trudeau alienated Alberta. There's no other way for a reasonable person to see that.

Well he poured billions of Canadians’ hard-earned tax dollars into buying a pipeline to prop up Alberta’s oil-based economy, so there’s that.

Trudeau has tried to placate both the oil resource workers and the anti-climate change lobby.   The net outcome is basically distrust of the federal government from both groups.  Harper at least made gains for the oil sector and he essentially wrote a promissory note on climate change.  Trudeau is claiming action on climate, but it’s little more than a claim.

What a crock of shit. Are you really that dumb? "Thanks for the hundreds of billions. Here's 4."

Here's how "placated" Alberta and Saskatchewan feel: the Liberals got 0 seats out of the 48 in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and about 12% of the popular vote.

In Western Canada:

CPC  71

NDP 15

Lib    15

Grn   2

Ind    1

The Libs have 15 of the 104 seats in Western Canada.

This is what prompted the CBC to question Scheer's leadership. Those useless bastards didn't question Trudeau's leadership though, and the BQ got 8 times as many seats in 2019 as they did in 2011. The Liberals just barely beat them, by 2% of the popular vote.

It really is time for separation. Unbelievably, things are still going downhill.

Oh a sob story about how Albertans don’t pay any provincial sales tax and have had billions pumped into oil infrastructure by the feds despite a collapse in world oil prices that has zero to do with the federal government.  People aren’t stupid.  Get real.

Not to mention it was his policies which caused them to leave. Just as it was his policies which caused Enbridge to abandon energy east.

Absurd regulations.  Consult until you drop.  Well now the oil and gas business activity has dropped.  Mind you, the provincial NDP government made its own special contributions.

Back to the topic at hand, over 7,700 Canadians are dead now, and the Trudeau government has fessed up to closing travel too late, and to giving the exact wrong advice re: masks.

Lots of us have been saying since the beginning the gov't was wrong on this, are we supposed to believe that we know more about the topic than our top medical official?

Japan, where they have the whole population of Canada centred around one city, still has only 907 deaths.

We're still ahead of China and India, and those countries have 30x our population.

Trudeau: EPIC FAIL.

CTV, CBC, GLOBAL "NEWS" - EPIC FAIL.

Yes it’s all simulacrum at this point, the shift from real presence to the symbolic.  Information Age.  Where’s Dougie?   He’d have something to say about that.

No, it's a line of dead bodies over 8 miles long.

If you were in a car going 100 km/hr it would take 8 minutes to pass them all.

The deaths and cases are real.  Much of the political rhetoric around the facts are sophistry, stories told to win friends and influence people.

Political rhetoric sucks.

We had months of political rhetoric before Dr Tam finally had to look at the data coming in from Japan and Taiwan ad admit that she got things 100% wrong.

Now the facts are in, and it's ok to discuss facts.

3 biggest takeaways from Covid:

Fact: people who said that blocking travel from covid hotspots was important were right.

Fact: people who said that we should all wear masks were right.

Fact: people who said that wearing masks is bad, take a -1 for telling people to do the wrong thing. Honestly we'd be better off if you just kept your mouth shut.

Possible scores for world leaders is 2,1,0, or -1.

Shinzo Abe got 2/2 right, and he dodged the -1. Trump got 1/2 right, he at least didn't get the -1. Trudeau got -1/2. He put us in the hole, while he was hiding in his own basement.

People who believed travel was actually being blocked were given a false sense of security

I only recall one world leader ever making the claim "We have it totally under control". Strangely enough his country got whacked harder than any other.
