Socioeconomic distancing

I get it that panicking and heading for the hills is still the wrong thing to do but if anything has the potential to really turn the COVID-19 virus into something more like a Zombie Apocalypse it'll be taking a tough-titty pay up or else business as usual approach if this goes on into summer or longer.  That could easily result in a massive default for millions of people in Canada and hundreds of millions worldwide.

Social distancing between one another is one thing but what about economic distancing? Will there be room or patience for socioeconomic distancing - the distance that is between one's need to collect or pay debts?  Think of social distancing as being on a physical dimension and the economic distance as being on a temporal line.

Will our economy need some sort of massive relief valve to bleed that time pressure off or could it survive the sort of economic stimulus or bail-out that staving off such a collapse might require? In the absence of economic distancing so to will social distancing go as people risk going to work while infected because of the prime imperative to produce and carry your weight or die trying.  Seems like a real Catch-22.

I'm convinced this thing is going to spread no matter what. It's too spread now.  Travel should have been shutdown already, it's too late.

This winter my roommate was sick, i was anal about disinfecting and isolating myself from them but i got sick anyways.  You can wash your hands all you want but when you breath in microscopic water droplets there's no chance.

Part of me just wants to get it and recover so i don't have to worry about it anymore LOL.

I have no problem with social distancing. It's a good thing, damned good. Kind of difficult to do though, when you live in high-density urban housing. Then no distancing is possible, it's just simple physics. The more people you have in one areas, the greater the percentage chance the virus is going to appear there. And run rampant, wiping them out in great numbers. Meanwhile out in rural areas it is easy for us to stay safe and to isolate ourselves. Not much to do really, it's already like that out here.

Economic distancing? You wish pal. You really are stupid, if you think the bank is going to take the hit for you. Government bailout, I think not. Your not native or just arrived from somewhere else. You dumb Canadian white boy, get nothing.

You may be right. I do not think you are being soft myself. I get your point. Bankrupting a nation is not going to help.

People who have normal salaried jobs, or jobs they can do from home will probably be fine.

But people who work in the service industry will be desperate in a month without relief.

Banks should suspend mortgage payments, governments should suspend tax collection.

Not sure how much all this would cost but we can look to Italy to see the alternative.

Simply filing a return is going to be an issue. My accountant doesn't seem to interested in receiving my bundle of receipts and such never mind the fact she just returned from an overseas cruise.

Eyeball you seem to be coming around.

You don't. It looks like the rise of Kumbaya is really having a bad effect on people who would prefer a more hard-boiled sink or swim approach on the economic side of things.  It seems there's a lot more opinionated floundering about from the usual suspects as they watch in panic as social concerns blow thru economic concerns like a tornado thru a trailer park.

Socialism is supplanting capitalism in a matter of weeks without firing a single shot and the tipping point is already receding so fast it can't be tipped back.  It's phenomenal times we live in.

I knew that you and your ilk would be rubbing their greasy little hands in glee over this. The Bilderbergs and Thunbergs are all very happy too, I'll wager.
Careful what you wish for.

Don't worry, eventually all the socialists will want toilet paper, and capitalism will come roaring back.

Then they'll realise their gas tanks are empty, and they'll stop pretending they give a shit about climate change as well.

Oh c'mon it's not as if your ilk isn't likewise chortling over the peculiar set of we-told-you-so's you subscribe to.

There's no need for caution, my secret pwd and key that protects me against COVID-19 5G transmission arrived in the mail today.  It's embedded in the secret code EI sends us slackers so as to not arouse suspicion.

I don't think that many people get happy in the midst of such suffering.

Bilderbergs are supposedly illuminati billionaires, right?

Can you tell me how house arrest is a socialist concept?  I must confess it passed by me. Kumbaya indeed.

It's about CONTROL, you see Rue.

We need to stop all of them... FIRE ALARMS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS, SIRENS ON AMBULANCES...

IT'S THOSE GODDAM BILDERBERGS

Now hang on we do have countries like India where they drive without all that stuff you know. Even in countries where they have that stuff not everyone follows it. You driven in Rome....Tel Aviv.. Mumbai...Bathurst and Finch in Toronto....Miami.. Paris? Control. The concept is deeply interconnected with anxiety that is for sure but is over- rated. Sometimes common courtesy is far more effective..ah but then people would need to freely decide to be polite...imagine preaching such values as individual choices not government imposed mandatory edicts...is that even possible? Could Jesus exist today without armed disciples zapping people if they were not showing love?

Control. Remember Get Smart?  Maxwell Smart never really could stop Chaos...on the other hand this current attempt at  house arrest reminds me of a 50's sit com. No one leaves home ..no one works and it's all black and white.

I much preferred Gomar Pyle.
