Sharia took a back seat to the Communist/Socialist/Nationalist interests of folks like the Baathists & Young Turks for a good chunk of the 20th Century. Then Iran 1979 happened...now it's back to the old ways. By old...I mean Medieval ways. As for Sharia in Islamic countries...don't have much choice but to follow. Surely you've heard tales of lovers getting arrested in places like Dubai for smooching or more on the beaches...off to jail for you. But Islam took it a step further and got involved directly with the Final Solution...hands on, so to speak. Even so far as tossing in the Zyklon-B crystals at Birkenau just to see how the whole process panned out. With plans on importing the whole operation in Poland to the Middle East (upon Rommel's intended victory) to complete the genocide of the Jews in detail. The irony is that all this is in some respect...a REAL Canadian value. We turned our backs on the Jews while allowing many Nazis to live out their lives here without much fuss for the majority that ended-up here. Well Dialamah, based on my own unpleasant experiences with Muslims and knowledge of Islam, I can't help but too feel and think the way I do. I am in no way a right-wing extremist. I love and respect many cultures. The nerve of you. You are a left-wing extremist then? There is no guidance or help out there.
