You may want to look at his past record. He started off quite leftist in orientation and still is a strong proponent of using the state as the primary agent of change not individuals which is not classic conservatism. He's actually more classic Liberal than he is classic conservative. He's lumped to the right pretty much because in politics these days in the UK, Britain, US, we have two dominant parties and we label one left and one right. Relating this back to Trump you did notice Boris stayed away from Trump during the last election like a hypochondriac virgin from some one with syphilis.
