VGK trades Nikita Gusev to NJD for a 2nd and a 3rd.

NJD trying to jump start things around Hall, Hischier and Hughes.

Could be an absolute steal on the Devils part, if Gusev lives up to the hype, VGK is going to be kicking themselves. Could be a bust though too, won't really know until we see Gusev in the NHL. VGK doesn't really have room in their top six though, so I can see why he's more expendable for them than he would be on most teams.

Gusev signs for 2 years at $4.5 million AAV.

VGK didn't have room for him under the cap, they've only got $1 million in cap room.

Tampa trades Ryan Callahan's Nathan Horton Disease contract on LTIR to Ottawa for Mike Condon.

Tampa saves $2.4 million in cap room, now have four NHL goalies, Vasilevsky, C-Mac, Domingue and Condon, total salary; $14.35 million.

Time to trade a goalie.

Indeed, especially when Vasilevsky is due for $6 million raise after next year.

I think Louis Domingue has some value, but Michal Neuvirh on a league minimum PTO is my preference now.

Hopefully he's recovered from his injury from last year, he's not bad as far as backup options go, if he's healthy, which, I'm assuming he will be since he's got to win the job in camp.

How you feeling about Pavel Francouz?  I've never even heard of him.

He played good in the AHL last year, he did great in the two NHL games he played this year with the Avs, small sample size at the NHL level though. He might be great, might not be able to handle being an NHL backup, might be something in between, kind of a wild card.

I have no idea what to think, goalies are voodoo, so far so good, but it might not mean anything.

Minnesota fired GM Paul Fenton?  Didn't they just hire GM Paul Fenton?

Dumpster fire keeps on dumping up in Minny.

Praise Dubeezus.

Yeah they did just hire Paul Fenton, but he's done such a terrible job so quickly that he deserved to get canned, truly a garbage GM.

He did his damage in such a short time, they couldn't get rid of him fast enough.

$30 million for Zuccarello, 32 years old, 5 x 6

$27.5 million for Jason Zucker with a NTC

Neiderreiter for Rask.

Charlie Coyle for Ryan Donato.

Brutal.

It's like he was trying to become one of the worst GM's in hockey as quick as possible, well done Fenton.

The owners have caught the Leafs Disease, they're not good enough to win, but they're just good enough to miss out on the franchise players in the draft, it's Teachers Pension Fund Limbo.

They miss out on the good players and then they draft bums and miss on pretty much every first rounder they've had for a decade. Bad combo.

Plus loaded up with aging out bad contracts, could be gotten rid of, but they simply refuse to Shanaplan.

Ah well, f*ck Minniberta, I'm just basking in the glow of the firm of Dubas, Gilman & Pridham, the smartest guys in the room.

July 31st, 100% Bobby Mac lifestyle right naow.

Bourbon marinated pork tenderloin, garlic and herb baby potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, salad, and frozen margaritas on the deck, let's go baby!

3 years of UFA, worth the gamble, could be a real cheap deal in a few years. He might not have cracked 30 points in a season yet, but the upside is obvious. If Girard has plateaued already, then that's going to be a bit pricey, but I doubt that is what will happen.

Zucker is the poster child for the overpaid NHL middle class,

$5.5 million cap hit for 21 goals and 42 points, just the sort of player that should be jettisoned asap.

Indeed but he's way down the list of Wild players who that is true about, that's how much of a dumpster fire they are, just tear the whole thing down already and start the rebuild. Now when they trade Zucker they won't just get a bag of pucks for him, couldn't have fired Fenton fast enough, really big mistake there.

Particularly as there are other teams who could be suckered into taking a lot of this junk off their hands in return for picks and prospects.

Figure out who the dumb GM's are, keep calling them until they fleece themselves.

Minnesota basically has one good asset, Matt Dumba, but he's 25, he's only got four years left on the contract, and he's an asset that they could get some team to overpay for.

Minnesota is going to suck for awhile yet, by the time Minnesota clears out all this junk and tanked for some franchise players, Dumba will be UFA.

So trade him now, sell high, buy low.

It's like the Duchene deal, the Avs pretty much restocked their whole lineup, just by trading one guy who was way overvalued by the market.

Funny thing is, Fenton tried to trade Zucker to Calgary, then he tried to trade him to Pittsburgh for Kessel, but Kessel said no way was he going to the Wild, so failing to trade the junk which no other team was willing to pay a price for, he can't think of any other move but to sign him long term, lol.

It's like the Leafs when Shanny took over, you're not going to get much for Tyler Bozak, if you're going to trade an asset to get better in the future, you trade your best asset, which was Kessel, which is now Freddie Andersen and Kasperi Kapanen, which, nobody would trade Andersen for Kessel now, never mind throwing Kapanen in on top.
