And I think you are missing the point.....high speed rail is not and has not ever been a high priority in the United States.

The United States has almost double the OECD average for passenger miles travel per year, leading all OECD nations by far:

That is a pointless statistic.  The USA is larger than most of those nations so even if its rail system is obsolete by modern standards it is going to have high mileage.  The only nations similar in area are Australia (with a very low population) and Brazil and China, both of which are developing nations.  A more meaningful stat is the amount of high speed rail each nation has and the US does not show well there.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/world/highspeedrail.html?tid=grpromo

I disagree...the United States' existing transportation infrastructure produces more passenger miles per year than any other nation in the world...by far.   It is not even close.

Forget it.  I just dropped out of this forum.  Believe it or not I was warned about not trimming my posts.. A forum that is that weak on bandwidth isn't worth attending.

Agreed, but an autobahn is way too short for a long road trip.

Not an American Autobahn. Cannonball Run, coast to coast, ftw.

We gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound, just watch ol' Bandit run"

Probably, but I still take such expressed interest as a confirmation of American relevance.

It's not like they routinely post threads about what's wrong with...ummmm... Bolivia.

Good point.

The only thing wrong with America, is the Democrat Party Plantation Aristocracy trying to turn it into Giant Canada.

They will fail, but it's still causing damage trying to ram that socialist peg into the Liberty Nation.

I'd ask you to clarify that but I probably shouldn't.

Not to worry, the Democrats are going to lose this war, socialism is incompatible with the American Religion, and the Millennials are not going to overthrow it.

Actually I think the slingshot has been pulled tight under Trump and we will may see quite a socialist backlash in America.  Warren wants to go further than Cotez’s 70% tax on over 10 million in earnings with a 2% annual wealth tax on people with over 50 million in assets.  The rich left are in support.  None of this is radical as even higher taxes on the rich existed in the US in the 50’s and 60’s, and the middle class thrived like never before or since.  Fox News’ own polls show that 70% of Americans support such a tax, which falls below the 73% threshold that economists consider counter productive.  If America shifted left in this regard, brought in single payer universal health care, got serious legislatively at the federal level about climate change, and beefed up its gun control, and if Canada stepped it up on military spending, we could be in for better Canada-US relations, a healthier continent, and the possibility of a better economic and social union.  And we can’t have more of Trudeau’s wasteful, naive and weak-kneed social and economic policies.  That’s a lot of if’s.

Oh the Millenials are going to charge the barricades, they will try to incite their Bernie Bro Occupy Wall Street by legislation, but they will simply be shot down, by the Gorsuch court what Trump has made.

I like Trump on some social policy like banning late term abortion, but on the environment, refugees, and taxation, he is retrograde.  He’s created an artificial boom with borrowed money that benefits the rich more than anyone else.  Also, he has been compromised by Russia, both personally and financially, though I don’t know to what degree.  He’s also alienated allies, especially by imposing steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada.  He has to go.

Trump has no ideology other than Trump, he's a brand not an ideology, but in this case he's just being used by the Red States to get the Blue Collar districts onside, so the Red States could take control of the Supreme Court, because in the virtual civil war,  all legislation will have to be made or broken by the Supreme Court, only the Supreme Court can make law, so only the Supreme Court matters.
