The Slow Painful Death of the Trump Administration

Trump will come and go, but Canada's/Ontario's economic challenges will remain, being so dependent on exports to and investment from a single nation, the United States.

And that has been a problem for about a century and a half.  I don't see much in the way of change there.

Unlike Obama I suspect Trump is not going to recover.  He has simply offended too many independent voters.  But that is what makes politics fun - its unpredictability.

President Trump has already outperformed in his elected role as Disruptor in Chief...having stopped a Hillary Clinton presidency, appointing two conservative SC justices, and dismantling many Obama era domestic and foreign policies.

Few thought Trump would ever win office...including Obama.

...everything else is just gravy on top.

America was so much better under Obama, a great father, a decent man, and a respected leader. With Trump every day is a new circus of fear, belligerence, and petty egoism.  Obama wasn’t perfect, but Trump has sunk the presidency to new lows

President Obama had his presidency, and his policies helped to make a Trump presidency possible (Trump is the political antidote for Obama.).  Obama himself is reported to have great doubts about what he understood about the political pulse of America in the wake of Trump's victory.   Obama destroyed Hillary for his own agenda and ego in 2008, and Trump did the exact same thing.

It sounds as if you think that the most incompetent president in history is actually helping the US.  Facts would seem to dictate otherwise.

I have a broader and longer perspective on such things.....Trump is just another U.S. president.

Like all those before, Trump will leave his mark and books will be written.  Another member has astutely described Trump as "Jacksonian", providing good context and history arc.

The U.S. is far more than just its sitting president.

Andrew Jackson and Manifest Destiny?  You like that shit?  Much of the post-colonial mess we have right now in the world, in Indigenous communities, Africa, the Middle East, India/Pakistan, Central America, South America, can be traced back to ignoramuses telling people how they should live or just outright taking their territory and stuff.  I realize we have to move on from wars of the past.  I don’t expect compensation from Washington for the property Loyalists lost after the Revolution, but we don’t need to be creating more displacements of people’s and cultures.  Read about Tehcumseh’s dream of creating an Indian territory. The Brits (and early Canadians) supported it, but the Yanks took the land and ended that dream.

No, Tehcumseh is already a fixture in American primary education and media lore...no need to read about him again.  Andrew Jackson was a pivotal figure in American history War of 1812, so much so he still appears on the U.S. $20 Federal Reserve Note.   The British (including Canadians)....abandoned the "Indians".    A President Jackson would go on to establish the power of a new Democratic Party  and all of its excesses.   Jackson was a change agent, and so is Trump.

Here's the thing.  Nothing you have posted in this thread detracts from its theme.  Even if you were 100% right instead of the opposite Trump is still going down.  There is just too much accumulated evidence against him.  You may argue if you wish that all of that evidence is false, but too many other people have chose to believe otherwise.

Everything I posted detracts from this thread's theme. The problem you have with understanding that is that you just see what you want to see.

Get this: AMERICANS CHOSE TRUMP AS PRESIDENT BASED ON HIS ELECTION PLATFORM. TRUMP IS FOLLOWING THROUGH ON HIS ELECTION PROMISES. JUST BECAUSE DEMOCRATS DON'T LIKE WHAT HE'S DOING DOESN'T MAKE IT IMPEACHABLE AND IT DOESN'T MEAN HIS ADMINISTRATION IS "DYING". Demsa re supposed to hate what he's doing. They're morons.

Evidence? Like what? You keep talking about evidence but there is none!!!!!! All I see evidence of so far is FBI corruption, which is undeniable. Russian collusion doesn't seem likely to come together, at all. So, unless the witch hunt comes up with some other crime, worthy of actual prosecution, this thread is a complete and total farce. Get it? No actual crime with actual evidence = this thread is completely idiotic. And keep in mind, the FBI's credibility is at an all-time low right now. Like rock bottom. They almost need video evidence of Trump committing a crime while he's saying "I'm committing a crime" to be believable at this point.

Very necessary even before tariffs were imposed....one more Yankee owned auto plant is gone forever in Canada.

That should be making those leftist liberals and socialist quite excited and quite happy these days now that another yankee owned plant is gone, eh? They all say goodbye and good riddance to those yanks and those jobs. Lol. Of course the ones that are saying that are the ones that still have jobs and those people could careless about others losing their jobs. It's all about me and my money in Canada and nothing more. Most Canadians are beyond something else.Just saying.

I am surprised that the commies in America have not gone after trying to have Jackson's picture removed off that $20 American bill yet? Our first prime minister of Canada had his face removed off of our $10 dollar bill so we could put some nobody's picture on it and look oh so politically correct and make up for our terrible past wrongs. Dam our Canadian history. Wipe it off the map. But unlike America you celebrate and hang on to your past, good or bad for now. Better watch out that Jackson's face does not get removed by the local social justice Antifa warriors in America and get some nobody's face put on that $20 bill. Hey, you never know. :)

You got that right....some Canadians prefer to hide from their history.   The funny part is that Canadian media described Viola Desmond ($10 Canadian) as "Canada's Rosa Parks", even though she was years earlier.   That's how dominant American media and history are in Canada.

Like Trump, President Jackson was a bastard, but he was our bastard.

As I always keep trying to remind people these days about liberals is that they truly are an exercise in futility. They still cannot get it thru their thick skulls that the dumbocrats have nothing on Trump. But Trump has a hell of a lot on them. The sad part is what is Trump waiting for to once and for all nail their leftist liberal lying azzes?  Lock her up say the Trump people. :D

Canada is a funny place to live anyway these days period. We appear  to be quite wiling and ready and able to get rid of our Canadian history and culture so as not to offend anyone's feelings. Canada has gone completely politically correct insane. Our history is being changed just to appease the french in Quebec and to not try and offend the new non British/European immigrants coming to Canada. We Anglo Canadians always aim to please. Lol.

So true, and the leftist liberal lying CBC cannot wait to say something about Trump in a negative manner every day just like CNN and MSNBC media. Trump takes up most of their useless media news time in Canada and have never anything positive to say about some of the good things Trump has done. It's just more and more attacks and mocking of Trump daily. The CBC is so pathetic for a news station. I hope that if Maxine Bernier gets elected as PM of Canada one day he gets rid of at least CBC news or get rid of the CBC altogether. Will work for me.

Look I’m not into rewriting history or over the top political correctness, but if you can’t move on from characters like Andrew Jackson, the world will fly past you to greener pastures.  Don’t worry, they were selling Trump chocolate bars at the duty free and I nearly shit myself.  I can’t believe that anyone could think Canadians would want a souvenir of that guy except as an ironic joke.  Strange times...

OK, but mine is an amoral perspective that recognizes prevailing conditions and context, not what today's snowflakes wish to deplore and erase.   Andy Jackson was a very important U.S. president, more than Trump (or Obama) could ever hope to be for both foreign and domestic policies, if only because it was a time of explosive growth and conflict for the United States.

This is part of the theme - The Democrats are going to make Trump's life absolutely miserable.  And Trump has not made matters better for himself by forcing a government shutdown.  What the Democrats don't do to him he does to himself through his poorly thought out actions.  You can take refuge in your Trump dreamland, but your idol is going down.

And that the trade war with China is completely unnecessary as well as unwinnable

Liars on the left try to paint the trade war with China as belonging to Trump.

China's trade war on the USA started 18 years ago.

Under Obama and the presidents before him, the USA bent over and grabbed it's ankles.

No one before Trump has tried to hold China accountable.  And for that he gets blamed.

Trump has already fulfilled his most important role anyways, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, bam, mission accomplished.

Those two alone have already crippled the liberal agenda for generations  to come.

Now its just a question of whether or not he can score the hat trick, RBG takes a spill, and then it's lights out, Democrats, fucked for life, total SCOTUS War victory.

I see you have given up on anything approaching an intelligent response.  Chuckie?  I didn't think a horror show puppet could vote.

Meanwhile add farmers to the many groups hurt by Trump's policies.  Some of them actually voted for him.  Sad.

Government shutdown looms over farmers as they face tough decisions

And yet Trump's appointees just voted in favour of planned parenthood.  It is just possible that these conservative justices might actually put the law before their personal beliefs just as happens in most democracies.    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-leaves-legal-victory-place-planned-parenthood-n945946

Planned Parenthood is small beer, who cares?  What is important, is the first and second amendment and preventing the Democrat party from Canadianizing them.

Free speech is critically important to both Canadians and Americans, but don’t ever bring your insane 2nd Amendment to Canada.  It’s destroying America.
