I am getting tired of the Feds taking more money. Every year the take more from my paycheck. It’s sucks that I have a decient job I a union but the pay increases are far less than inflation. Not 1 thing hasn’t gone up in price! Yet I have struggled to get 1.5% each year for wage increase.

Because you came here with some grounded complaints, and didn't just make crazy accusations, I am going to help you out with some backing claims:

https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/trudeau-government-close-to-breaking-all-time-record-for-per-capita-federal-spending-fraser-institute

The Trudeau government is spending more per-capita than Harper except at the peak of the financial crisis, you are correct.

Jayberrd: I'm not sure why you've started this topic under the "Local Politics" category, however I believe the point you raise is valid. A couple days ago the G&M cited lagging wage growth, which isn't keeping up with inflation, as a concern, particularly given that the relatively low (official) unemployment rate suggests that wage growth should be more robust. Neoclassical economic theory appears to apply no longer in the globalized era where workers, at least in Canada, are exposed to external competition for jobs on Canadian soil. One G&M column (link below) lists a number of factors that are or may be contributing to the problem, including high immigration levels, global competition and demographic changes in the labour force. One thing that's relatively clear, however,. is that Canada is not, except in a few fields, experiencing real labour shortages. Were acute labour shortages actually present, wages would be rising much more quickly. Essentially, public policy in this country has for the past few decades sponsored a competition scheme that undermines the interests of Canadian workers.

There is billions of tax dollars being thrown away to help fight climate change in other developing countries. Never any money for we the Canadian people like vets, homeless, seniors , child poverty and infrastructure.

There is hundreds of millions for legal and illegal refugees. Never enough money for we the Canadian people like the vets, homeless, seniors, child poverty and infrastructure.

There is hundreds of millions giving to the UN to blow on their pet program and agenda leftist causes.  Never enough for we the Canadian people like our vets, seniors, homeless, child poverty and infrastructure.

Are you staring to get the picture yet? The billions that are thrown at the rest of the world by this stupid prime mistake of ours is the reason why we all have to pay more taxes. The federal government is way out of control. The only ones who benefit from all of this spending are the international banksters.

Immigration from the third world is killing all Canadians from getting decent wage increases. Globalist corporations and their puppet on a string politicians could careless about you and me. The one world globalism program and agenda needs to be eliminated. What is needed is more nationalism, not communism. My opinion.

PS: That 1.5% raise will at least be able to allow you to get a couple of extra cups of coffee at Timmy's for yourself every year. What a deal, eh?  :)

I think this is true of most working people, and pensioners who get even less of a pension increase.   The Feds are taking in a lot of extra money in various taxes which might not be so bad if they helped more Canadians but the Trudeau regime blew it, literally.

Actually our mean federal income tax rate is not that high among developed countries and about 4% lower than the US. I don't know how we would rate when you add up all our taxes though.

The GST alone could be eliminated tomorrow if our elected dictators would stop blowing our tax dollars on all of their socialist/communist programs and agendas and stop kissing minority special interest groups butts. All the bull shit that is today happening in Canada did not happen 60 years ago. Conservatism pretty much prevailed. The legal and illegal refugee problem alone is costing the Canadian taxpayer's billions every year. Why cannot people like you get this? High taxes and high fees are killing this country. Pointing out the highs and lows of our tax rates is not going to solve the problem of all the over spending being done to Canadians by our so called dear leaders. Canadians need tax reform and they need it now.

If any Canadian ever took the time to point out all the fees and taxes that we the Canadian people have to pay out every year especially to the rest of the world there should be a taxpayer revolt and rebellion.  Just kidding. I doubt that even pointing out all of that would still not get most of the Canadian people upset and out and demonstrate. Sadly, it is just not the Canadian way. Most Canadians will no doubt just shrug their shoulders and will respond with, oh well,  and that would be the end of it.

Canadians have no fight in them at all anymore for a real fight. But they will fight for legalizing marijuana though. Most Canadians are already high on drugs and booze so why not get them higher and legalize pot and get them even "out of site and cool, man". Pot suppresses the brain cells, and makes one lazy in the head. It is for sure pot does not make one any brighter or energetic or intelligent. Now with legalization more people especially the young will want to go give it a try. More dummies to have to deal with. And now the government can get their grubby hands on more money thru taxes on marijuana. The stupidity never ends in Canada. What a country, eh?

Maybe you should look into what the GST replaced and why instead of just ranting.

According to Bulroney the GST was created to pay down the national debt. Funny how the GST has come nowhere close to help pay down the national debt as of yet. As a matter of fact it would appear as though the debt keeps going up and up.    So, just what did the GST replace than? This I would like to know. Over.

I see you can't be bothered to look it up and would rather just rant. The GST replaced a hidden 13.5% manufactures sales tax which made our manufacturers less competitive and put it on the consumers where it belonged. You're welcome.

No matter what it was implemented to get rid of the GST, which is what I was told it was supposed to do, but that it has not yet appeared to have happened. The GST is no doubt being used and wasted on plenty of useless programs and agendas except to help pay down the debt bill. By the government getting rid of the manufactures sales tax they just added another tax. Give with one hand and take away with the other. Get it? The taxpayer still loses. Get it? I would rather "rant" about all the taxes that we have to pay rather than be like most Canadians who could not give a crap as to how their tax dollars are being blown. Even you appear to not show any concern. Someone has to say something. Just saying.

Of course they had to replace it with another tax. Go back to living in a cave, providing your own food, healthcare and other services and infrastructure you want to use but don't want to pay for.

I don't like debt either and am critical of a lot of things government uses our money on but I am only one of thirty seven million and don't get to be the sole arbiter as to how government spends money. You can go live in a dictatorship and have absolutely no say but still get to pay taxes, if that's what you would prefer.

NO, they did not have too. There are enough taxes already being collected(stolen)in Canada from we the people by our dear leaders to cover the loss just by getting rid of the many useless and stupid leftist liberal programs and agendas that have not made Canada great but on the contrary has made Canada not so great and has helped to make it's citizen's poorer. I do not mind paying taxes for services that I need but there are many taxes being levied against me that are not needed to help me survive in Canada. At least in the good old days of living in the cave there were no taxes. Now there are not enough hairs on my head to count all the taxes that have been implemented since the good old cave days.

C'mon, you must like paying plenty of taxes? You are Canadian, eh? I am one of those 37 million that does want to have a say in how my tax dollars are being blown. The government spends way more than what they take in because they cannot stop spending. I have mentioned many programs and agendas that are costing the Canadian taxpayer's billions in wasted tax dollars every year and should be eliminated but yet all I ever get from some members for my efforts here is silly ass replies. Aw, you are a racist or anti-immigrant.

We are living in a dictatorship. Hello. The problem is that you have not woke up yet to that fact. You cover your eyes and try to pretend that Canada is oh so great. In some ways it is but in many other ways it is not. It is the not that I am concerned about and will bitch over. It's my tax dollars too. The Canadian taxpayer's pay hundreds of billions of their hard earned and working money every year in taxes and yet the government still needs more. Why? Because they do not know how to spend our tax dollars in the right way. The majority of politicians do not care as to how your tax dollars are being blown. They just think that it is all there for their pleasure to blow on many pet peeve programs and agendas that most Canadians do not need or want.

Are you getting it yet? I hope that you are. :)
