Conservatives Silent on Homosexuality

Well good.  I already said I like conservatives.

I like some conservatives too.  Not so much those who oppose gay rights though.

Isn't it all warm and fuzzy to completely agree on something?

Good.  So can we all agree that this issue goes in the 'loss' column for conservatives now ?  Homosexuality is normalized and only leftover bigotry remains to fade out, with the bigots ?

It says in the bible that no man shall lie down with another man or they should be stoned. Leviticus 20:13  I guess that would make God a bigot, eh? :D

Even Islam despises homosexuality. They throw homosexuals off rooftops blindfolded. Nice religion.

I hope you're not wearing any cotton/poly blends.....according to Leviticus 19:19 you are not to mix fabrics.

Unless you're a cherry-picker when it comes to commandments in Leviticus.......

Just quoting what the bible says. Doesn't everybody like to quote whatever will work for them? :D

Look, its not about "hating" on gays and depriving them of their human rights. Its about not encouraging it as far is government and culture is concern. About time snowflakes learn the nuanced difference.

Also when the government force it down our throat it grind my gear. If I want to object to baking a cake for a gay couple on religious ground then that is within my "god-given" rights. Fact is, it is a private business, I can refuse service to ANYONE.

On a cultural note, there is nothing wrong with thinking two man kissing as disgusting. If you think that it is "normal" then that's your opinion just don't try to force the rest of us to thinking that it isn't nasty. You're entitled to your own opinion as are the rest of us.

You can think whatever you like.  I certainly do, without regard for what anyone else thinks about what I think.

If you have a business you follow the law.  If the law says you can discriminate, you can.  If it says you can't, then you can't.  (Notwithstanding all the "accommodation" types)

1. Bullshit.  You can't encourage people to become gay.

2. No, you can't.  We follow the Civil Rights precedents set in the US, legally, for this.  Business operating in the public realm can't discriminate against groups.

3. You just said it's nasty, which is your right.  People will react to your statement, just as you react to two men kissing, and say that your statement is nasty.  Freedom of expression.  This one will come down to whoever yells loudest, I'm afraid.

1) you sure about that?   The problem with gay men is their tendency towards promiscuity which in a typical hetero-sexual relation is curbed. This is the traditional role for women, they help young men become men. https://www.pride.com/sex/2018/5/15/13-things-i-learned-while-attending-my-first-gay-orgy#media-gallery-media-0

2) uh supreme court of the us says otherwise...

Indeed, and further to this point, legal discrimination in public accommodation is practiced in the U.S. (e.g. women only fitness centers, rest rooms), and Selective Service registration (military draft).

Apparently he was unaware.  You'd think somebody talking so forcefully would be better informed.

But why cannot someone discriminate against anyone they want too? Are we a free people or not and are we free to be able to choose or not? If I am straight and want to rent my suite out to only straight people then that should be my right to do so. The government has no right to tell me as to who I can rent my suite out too.

Just because it is supposed to be the law does not mean that it is a good law. Yes/no? Some laws in Canada appear at times to be quite communistic. You will do as you are told or face a fine or jail time says the government even though the law may be some what stupid to have been implemented in the first place. It is getting to the point that if I now say that I hate you for instance that could be considered a hate crime under the hate laws of Canada. Hey, you never know. This is Canada, don'y you know?  Anyway, I love you. Lol.

1. I believe that the gay community would like to turn everyone gay. Then we could all have a "gay" old time together. :D

2. it should be anyone's right to be able to discriminate. It should be their right to do so. I will bet that if a Muslim wanted to deny some gay couple from renting their basement suite nothing would be said or happen to them. We appear to be are living in a communist society which Canada appears to have become? A communist country these days.

3. It is a nasty and disgusting thing to see two men kissing especially in public. Do it in their closet.

4. It looks like the loudest ones here right now and who are getting their way are the gay ones. Heterosexuals cannot say that homosexuality is a sickness anymore in public for if they do they could end up in that kangaroo court called the human wrongs commission and be charged with a hate crime. Even a Christian preacher who is only reading from what is said in the bible and his beliefs can be charged with promoting hatred against gays. This is not justice, this is tyranny by the minority. Why should Christians have to be forced to side with what they do not believe in? Read Leviticus 20:13 in the bible and what it says.

Exactly. Men are banned and barred from entering women only fitness centers. Try opening up a men's only fitness center and let's just see what happens. Let's all be honest here. If one is a white Christian, conservative, and straight male then it appears to be open season on them and they can be discriminated against. It's a fact of life these days. I feel so discriminated against these days. Lol. What ever happened to my rights in Canada anymore? :(

Just because homosexuality has been around forever does not mean that it is natural. Two gay men or two gay women cannot produce any children. Only a woman and a man can do that. Without that combination of man and woman none of us would be here. Only that combination meets with my approval.

Oh, I know.  Sometimes laws are pretty dumb.  I agree with you on hate speech.  It's ridiculous that giving offense is against the law.

That said, if you disagree with a law that says you can't discriminate against people due to their sexual orientation that is certainly your right.  It's not against the law to disagree with a law, as far as I know.

You can disagree with all that you want to disagree with but don't go out in public square and try to speak publicly about your denial and hatred for homosexuality or write a book about homosexuality in a critical and bad way. That is where the law will kick in and you will be charged with promoting hatred against gays. In Canada today offending or hurting someones precious feelings is a criminal offence and a hate crime now. The hate law is an ass law. But hey.

I'm a Conservative.

I do not care what two consenting adults do,  Nor should anyone.  Gays have money just like everyone else.  As conservatives we care about the free market.  Making sure everyone has free access to the markets.  In other words opportunity.

Socialists care about outcome.  To a socialist the outcome must be equal regardless of education, effort or anything else.

No, the only inequality that really needs addressing is the undue power of wealth's influence in our political system.  In this old lefties opinion there's really little need to do anything other than outlaw all forms of in-camera lobbying. The problem is not what's coming out of the pipe its what's going in that is the problem.

The rise of oligarchs and the way they've risen in places like Russia and China indicate the very same problem exists there as in Western democracies.  Governments in Russia and China probably have even more cause than you do to hate real lefties.

Things I care about.

Spending

Taxes

Social justice

Crime

Immigration

Abortion

Outside of these things. The rest shouldnt matter to real conservatives.

Also a person may personally feel one way on a subject but doesnt want laws changed to support their own feelings.

No, it makes Leviticus a bigot. Actually, he was neurotic if not psychotic.  Before I retired, I was a Peace Officer. For 25 years, the uniform I wore was an abomination before the Lord. I occasionally ate bacon and eggs for breakfast. I had to work on the Sabbath, a crime punishable by death according to Leviticus.

I am sure that occasionally, when two men lie down together, one or both might be stoned. I am sure  that occasionally, when a man lies down with a woman, one or both might be stoned.:D
