Dictators abound, democracy retreats

Trump made quite a few speeches that American politicians have been avoiding to be politically correct but American public wanted to hear and vote for someone to act on their concerns. Take his stand on immigration for example. Many agreed with what he said and is doing now. Take her stand on banning several Middle Eastern nations. Although I personally do not agree with ban based on nationality but this was a major concern for US citizens after several terrorist attacks on US soil. Trump also has the balls and intelligence to support liberation movements in the world unlike Obama who signed a pack with the devil to leave a legacy.

He banned nations that had no connection to any terrorism on U.S. soil, while making better friends with the ones that did, like Saudi Arabia.

During the election, Trump said the following:

- No more wars and adventurism
- No more trade agreements that do not benefit U.S., like NAFTA
- No more selling weapons to countries who engage in terrorism and have harmed the U.S.
- Immigration will stop
- No more aid to countries

Perhaps Trump meant what he said during the elections. The reality is that the billionaire elites have full control of him. Here he is now:

- They removed Bannon who Trump based his election promises on. The only wild card that pushed the ideology that grabbed those who are looking for someone different. Just watch Bannon be removed from Breitbart soon.
- NAFTA is slowly being forgotten
- There will be even more trade with China
- Weapons are being sold to anyone who is willing to pay and at a record pace
- Foreign aid continues
- The threat of removing out of status immigrants was just a growl. They will remain.
- Military activity around the world has increased by folds under Trump

You're right. Trump did have balls, but that was during the campaign. Now, he knows that the only way he can survive is to fall in line and to answer to the masters like Koch brothers, the Mercers, Adelsons, Paul Singers and other radical right big financial supporters who have a grip on the Republican Party. The same people who manipulate the tea party, which was an anti-establishment movement, but is now nothing more than slogans and b.s., cheering on the same old, same old.

Right...so President Trump should have included Canada too, based on that kind of logic (terrorism on U.S. soil).

Canada's ruling government is importing more terrorists as immigrants and refugees as a matter of national policy, and repatriating ISIS nationals instead of killing them.

Right. Canada is importing more terrorists as immigrants and refugees as a matter of national policy. Thanks for that. Perhaps you should start a twitter account.

It's your logic...not mine.

Terrorists have come from Canada to attack the United States.

Have come through Canada. While Saudi Arabia has funded Al Qaeda and ISIS. Please share another false equivalency.

Okay....Canada also has a $15 billion defense contract with the Saudis, despite criticism from the usual "human rights" suspects.

Dictators and terrorists love Canada !

Being an extremist nationalist is part of the reason why you have made two mistakes:

1) Assuming that I have some kind of a problem admitting what my country is doing wrong,
2) You try to excuse and justify wrong actions by trying to draw equivalencies. Most being false equivalencies.

But I don't care what you think as an individual...the game here is national and international in scope and scale.

You can try to dodge the facts on the ground regardless of the topic, but you are still complicit in the policies as a Canadian national.

Then you do a very bad job at not showing that you don't care what I think.

I care what you think and I want to help you become a better person.

Touching...but you would have a lot more credibility by spending more MLW energy on domestic "human rights" policies (e.g. First Nations) than obsessing on what Israel and other nations are doing.   Make Canada (and yourself) better first....

The assumptions continue. Perhaps there is a whole other world out there and some advocate for other things beyond what you see in your MLW lens.

Now let's talk about how to make you a more loving and righteous person.

Sure....you probably don't realize that I run a shelter for homeless people, but only right wingers...no lefties.

Dictators don't care either way, and neither does "democracy"...which provided Americans with a President Donald Trump.

You are correct. But Saudi Arabia as stinky as its regime is agreed to provide background check and info on its citizen travelers not those countries which were banned (either because the regime in power was not trusted with those info or they could not because they were weak unstable governments).

Nominally, but it's doubtful they would honor their commitments if Erdogan saw that his interests lay in not doing so. And he's not only been very chummy with Putin of late he has basically copied his playbook on how to turn a weak democracy into a dictatorship with only a pretense of democratic institutions. He might find that Turkey has more to gain siding with the Russians in any military confrontation with the West, rather than NATO.

But yet the rest of the NATO members allow Turkey to remain, mainly because it allows NATO to bring in things to help destabilize neighboring nations.

Not really. It's because of lack of options. His opponent was Hillary Establishment and people had enough of that. The turn out, as usual was abysmal.

Trump does not have balls. He just plays one on twitter. He's the biggest sycophant out there. Look at the announcement to move the capital of Israel to Jerusalem. His masters, namely Sheldon Adelson and Haim Saban, the Israeli Billionaires who fund politicians ordered him to do this.

Trump has no balls. He's a reality tv star.

Wait till Oprah gets in there. :D

The US sucks that Saudi choad until the oil gushes all over the place. I am starting to think the US is really weak and will never want to take Saudi Arabia to task.  Where were the hijackers from again??

Neighbouring countries were never stable. Turkey is just another vile Muslim dictatorship with delusions of grandeur. Like Putin longing for the past 'glories' of the USSR, Erdogen has visions of putting the Ottoman Empire back together with him as the great emperor. Now he's bombing and invading neighboring Syria to get at the kurds, there, who, in essence, have served the same purpose for him as the Jews did for Hitler. He uses the ones inside Turkey to create an ostensible threat and rally the people together, and now that he's cowed them he's looking for more Kurdish 'enemies'.

I know about the notion that Russia is in bed with some terrible people, and looks like our western NATO has the same problem of supporting terrible people and terrible regimes.  Maybe if Turkey is kicked out of NATO, we can kick Saudi Arabia out too?

As I see it the US has one, just one, last shot at staying at least a player on the world scene.  What’s happening all over the Eastern Hemisphere must be reproduced here or we stagnate and drift into redundancy. Trump and the leadership must ‘make nice’ with China. That’s where the money is; ditto the energy, and the vision.

China, Russia and Japan are ready to do it; have the money and the expertise.  It’s up to the US now.  To join the China B&R movement; actually the 21st Century movement, by linking the two hemispheres via the Bering Strait High Speed Rail project through Alaska and British Columbia to the rest of our Hemisphere.

Trump knows all about it. We’ll soon see if he champions the effort or it , along with us, dies aborning.

Why the hell would we want to make it easier for China to export shit to us?

China is now the #1 trading partner for the U.S., displacing Canada.

China has much more upside potential than the Canadian market, which has several economic and political barriers to growth for international investment.   Canada's federal and provincial governments are more interested in virtue signaling.    Dictators are far more practical.....

Only in that it pours all kinds of stuff into the US because it makes it so much more cheaply than you do. Canada buys twice as much of US exports than China does. So does Mexico, for that matter.

They are indeed. They'll ship you everything they make and refuse to take much back unless you pay bribes, and give them all the blueprints so they can start building their own and promise to spend the profits there in China rather than bringing them back to your country. In another dozen years Boeing will be out of business as China sells their own knockoff version of Boeing jets abroad at half the price.
