NAFTA negotiations.

Canada's deal with India, what do you think? We export more raw materials to them, they convert them to finished products and send them back. The banks and IT companies will be suffering because now in order to maintain proper trade "balance" they will have to sacrifice high paying domestic labor in order to use much lower cost East Indian talent. I guess all these people plus six thousand more can be placed in truck cabs to move our raw materials to tide water and bring finished product back to local markets.

Makes sense.

Well, instead of shipping Alberta's cheap energy right past Ontario where we are importing it why not refine and use it there? It would bring down the cost of labor as well.

We are  only interested in having Ontario pay a premium for Alberta energy like they did in the 60's, when Alberta energy is cheap they would rather sell it to Americans.

More woes from Canada's oilpatch....investment capital is smarter than Trudeau's energy/pipeline policies...so it's moving "south of the border":

Quote

...But even before the U.S. tax reforms, investment in America's energy industry had surged ahead of Canada.

Total capital spending on Canadian oil and natural gas was $45 billion in 2017, down 19 per cent from 2016. Capital spending in the U.S. sector last year increased to $120 billion, up 38 per cent from a year earlier.

...Mark Salkeld, president of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC), which represents many of the companies do frontline work in the oilpatch, said he's already seen investment moving south.

He said he knows PSAC members that are selling off their older, used equipment in Canada and investing in other opportunities in the U.S.

..."The reason the U.S. is spending more money than us in the oil and gas industry is because ... their companies have capital...

Freeland goes nuts over Trump's new plans for tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Canada thinks it is "special" and should be excluded from tariffs for DUMPING !

Quote

...

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland blasted the move by the U.S.

"As a key NORAD and NATO ally, and as the number one customer of American steel, Canada would view any trade restrictions on Canadian steel and aluminum as absolutely unacceptable," Ms. Freeland said in a statement.

He should do it anyway...it's fun to see Trudeau/Freeland react like the scared Liberals they are.

Nothing special about Canada when it comes to trade wars.

Trump hasn't said whether he will include Canada, or Mexico for that matter in this latest silly deal. The softwood lumber deal simply ended up costing y'all much more to build houses. Maybe Boeing called up Donny and asked him wtf are you doing now. They use a lot of aluminum to build their planes in case you haven't noticed.

I have a feeling  if the Beer and Cola and other Companies that use a lot of Aluminum may turn around and build their plants in Canada to save on costs such as the car manufacturers keep moving to Mexico because of the low labour costs.... I might be a blessing in Disguise!  Beer Companies  can turn their existing factories for bottling..they can come to Canada to do the canning...The beverages companies are almost all made from Aluminum...Maybe Trump is cancelling nafta ....to re-negotiate a...TFTD. Trump Free Trade Deal...and steel and aluminum could be in there for negotiating...He is really after the countries that Dump steel into the US

These steel and aluminum tariffs are a tax on US consumers and hurt America's allies more than her adversaries. Amazing stuff from a Republican president.

The tariffs have little to do with "hurting adversaries"...U.S. federal law gives the president executive power to protect strategic interests when it comes to raw materials and defence.   Trump wants to renew domestic production capabilities for steel and aluminum, increase jobs, keep a campaign promise, etc.

It's not called the "Rust Belt" for nothing, and remember how much Ontario freaked out over U.S. Steel and Stelco ?

When it comes to this topic, Canada is not an ally...it is a competitor.

You actually think this latest Trump stab in the dark was doen to protect strategic interests? hahaha. It is another feeble attempt to deflect from the chaos that follow him day to day. In fact if he is allowed to follow through, (which I'm sure he will not) all he would do is drive up costs to US citizens and cost US jobe. All the softwood lumber thing did was drive up the cost of building a house in the US. It's hilarious listening to you and yours trying to deflect for him though.

Trump is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. With the defense agreement between Canada and the US, he has just weakened it.

Oh please. Increase jobs? At the expense of Americans not residing in the rust belt. Trump is so misinformed he’s pathetic.

The defense agreement is very lopsided...USA gets to spend the most blood and treasure.

Canada's "defence" is weak....and getting weaker because of Trudeau.

Canada doesn't care about American jobs unless it is in their own economic, dependency interests on the American economy.

Trump is doing just what he said he would do, which is a lot more than can be said about Justin  Trudeau.

Trump has already addressed your post....unemployment is at record lows.

Canadians have no credibility on such matters as long as they support and suffer policies that cause higher costs (e.g. dairy), and lower employment (e.g. Atlantic Canada), while criticizing American "protectionism".

Thanks for your non answer. You remind me of Trump even though you say you are not a Trump supporter. I have no idea what you stand for.  You are loosey goosey just like Trump. You are too afraid to admit your stance on humanity.

You got an answer...you just don't like it.

Donald J. Trump is my president, not yours, so don't worry so much about it !
