Terror attack in Iran

Quote

Tehran, Iran (CNN)Attackers have mounted simultaneous gun and suicide bomb assaults on Iran's parliament building and the tomb of the republic's revolutionary founder, in one of the most audacious assaults to hit Tehran in decades.

At least 12 people were killed and dozens more injured in the twin assaults on the Iranian capital, state media reported. A third attack was foiled, Iran's Intelligence Ministry said.
ISIS issued a swift claim of responsibility. Its media wing, Amaq, claimed "fighters with the Islamic State" carried out the attack, but did not offer evidence.
The attack was highly unusual: Until now, Tehran has been a safe city for its residents as Iran has largely escaped the regular attacks launched against other participants in neighboring Syria's civil war.

What I found interesting on some news networks, the use of terrorism was put into quotes. Indicating it is not real terrorism. But that I guess is because it is Iran.

Iran has been heavily involved with helping Iraq fight ISIS since way back. It's no big shock that ISIS claimed responsibility for this. The real shock is that it hasn't happened well before now. Which says alot about the Iranian security services or the competence of ISIS in actually planning and carrying out terrorist attacks. I think its mostly the latter. Easy to lay claims. All you need do is issue a press release. No proof of the deed is necessary.

Iran seemed to have had more success fighting ISIS than Turkey/Nato/Syria/Russia combined.

Iran's security services are doing quite well as they have staved off many attacks. We also must recall the attacks on a couple military bases a couple years back and let's not forget the US/Israel connection with regards to Stuxnet and setting their nuclear program back by a decade or more.

By comparison with the attacks in the UK, what can we say about their security services? Worse? Because most of the attackers were already known and being tracked by British intelligence services.

And I agree with you that all you need to do is claim it, even if you had not carried it out. Effect is the same , be scared of ISIS.

This attack will indeed shut the hell up certain critics of Iran is behind terro attacks. Certain media outlets were not transparent to call this a terror attack until ISIS claimed responsibility. Only then terrorist attack was made official to save embarrassment...

The point of contention is the hypocrisy of certain western governments known for their brown nosing the saudis who back terrorist groups like ISIS.

It begs the question as to what is the motive behind american foreign policy implicitly putting their support behind ISIS by backing and selling arms to Saudis...

This proves Iran isn't an exporter of terrorism, eh?

Iran is Shia. ISIS is Sunni.

I had an uncle on my Euro side that fought for the SS in Bosnia...correct.

My father and his brothers however, were into Halifax and Lancaster bombers...flying them fixing them.

There is a good chance that the MEK, an Iranian opposition group, who was recently removed from some terrorist lists - like the U.S., after heavy lobbying - was the trigger man. The MEK was alleged to be behind the killing of the Iranian nuclear scientists as well. Many wonder where MEK, which is despised by majority of Iranians, due to its terrorist attacks inside Iran and the aiding of Saddam Hussein during the IranéIraq war, is getting its money. The fingers are being pointed at Saudi Arabia and Israel, who have started to really cozy up with each other, with Iran being their main reason.

The other interesting thing is how Iran helped out Iraq after 9/11.

The same place. Where were you T?  While the attacks were happening Iranians in their "Parliament" (oh do note how I use those quotation marks )

were shouting " death to America ".

Iran finances terrorism world wide. The fact it has been attacked by terrorists doesn't suddenly mean its a peace loving country and victim of terrorism. It brought this on. Its responsible for terrorism. Directly so.

No terrorism should be condoned for any reason but don't expect people to suddenly sympathize with Iran or for that matter Saudi Arabia any more than they do Assad.

Karma is such a beeyatch.

Saudi Arabia stinks. The Saudi regime is evil, corrupt, behind ISIS and 9-11 attacks, dictatorial and discriminatory especially against their half female population. For an idiot empty brained moron like Trump coming to this country and stand next to its leaders and praise them is a shame to the US and all Americans. On one hand they sell huge arms to Saudi Arabia and on the other they claim to be fighting terrorism what a hypocrisy.

ISIS was clearly behind attacks and Saudis are supporting them. Iran has a very strong security establishment. Attacks like this may happen again but it will not dent anything. The nation of Iran is mature, educated and motivated and is moving slowly towards democracy but through ballet boxes not civil war or terrorism like the Arab nations. No terrorist attack can change that. Lets hope they succeed.

Doesn't seem to bother Canada one bit....big fat $15 billion Saudi defense contract...for jobs (and votes) in Ontario.

It's patheic to think like this especially when you consider that most terror attacks were carried out by the saudi backed regime ISIS. Anyone with an eye and brain can see that....

Comments like yours are no better than this idiot currently occupying the White House and his ridiculous comments about terror attacks in Tehran...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/08/trump-reaction-to-isis-attacks-in-iran-repugnant-says-foreign-minister

Iran has denounced Donald Trump’s reaction to Wednesday’s deadly attacks in Tehran as “repugnant”, after the US president warned that the nation was reaping what it sows.

Everything about Trump (whether his patheic dealing with FBI director to speech about the terror attack) just shows what a conniving, self centred, fascist evil man he is oblivious to his actions.

When is impeachment happening. Sick and tired of lying, deceitful people purposefully creating rifts with other nations.

Indeed but hey according to some self professed "experts" Iran is the sponsore of world terror. That's the idiocy or perhaps purposefully spreading propaganda and negative generalisation.
