What if we're in a parallel universe and the other universe is the real thing and we're just copying what it does. Why do you consider that it isn't? What made you think that it isn't? Explain. If there is a "parallel universe," then you can't say that the universe isn't here.

Physicist Lawrence Krauss claimed to have the answer in his book, and he got a big smack down. Quote On the Origin of Everything ‘A Universe From Nothing,’ by Lawrence M. Krauss is more or less upfront, as it turns out, about not having a clue about that. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/25/books/review/a-universe-from-nothing-by-lawrence-m-krauss.html Edited April 1, 2017 by betsy

(maybe it's just as well LOL) I can say, though, that I was particularly intrigued by the premise of the movie "Contact". The plot explores the possibility of alien life on a star in the galaxy. Quote When Ellie and her colleagues hear chatter originating from the vicinity of the star Vega, Ellie feels vindicated. But that vindication is short lived when others, including politicians, the military, religious leaders and other scientists such as Drumlin, try to take over her work. When the messages received from space are decoded, the project takes on a whole new dimension, which strengthens for Ellie the quest for the truth. Thrown into the mix are the unknown person who has up until now funded most of Ellie's work and what his motivations are, and Palmer Joss, a renowned author and theologian, who despite their fundamental differences in outlook, is mutually attracted to Ellie, that attraction based in part on intellect and their common goal of wanting to know the truth. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118884/plotsummary?ref_=tt_stry_pl

If I were to hypothesize though, I would say the only apparent reason is to experience it. And that may not be the reason at all. Could be something else entirely or, equally possible with the information at hand, no reason whatsoever.
