Russia and Mr. Trump

They have become the birthers because they are chasing a conspiracy theory.

No, they're not. They're reporting on a memo the CIA has briefed political leaders in.

And there is no 'conspiracy theory', not like the lunatic fringe allegations of widespread conspiracies about the world trace center or Sandy Hook Elementary, or Obama being a Muslim, or do you believe that any and all allegations of governmental interference constitutes a conspiracy theory?

It's an unproven unsubstantiated rumour.  The media would not go near it if it was about Obama, and you know it.  Hey, if the MSM in canada wants to love Trudeau, so what?  Let them focus on other things, love is a beautiful thing!

Actually no its not. The memo/report that there is material that Trump can be blackmailed on does exist. It was obviously considered significant enough for various politicians and intelligence agencies to look into it, even if the contents of that memo are not verified. (And it should be pointed out that the media seems to be stressing that whatever the memo says, the results are not verified.)

This is not like (for example) the Obama birther nonsense or pizzagate where there was absolutely no reason to believe in those particular conspiracies.

The media would not go near it if it was about Obama, and you know it.

Actually, yes they would, and they did.

Heck, here's a report that a supposed Obama "birther" has supposedly found evidence that his birth certificate is fake. The guy's claim is completely bogus. Far less eviddence supporting his claim than there is behind Trump's Russian links, but there it is, on the web site of a fairly main-stream news organization.

You've misunderstood a few of my points.  Try reading slower, I'm not arguing that the media didn't go near the birther theory.  Read again.

And of course the memo exists.  That's not my argument.

You mean like the media never reported on the Obama birther thing?

Pardon, but those of us who speak English are perhaps simply taking your words at face value. Maybe you could point out the deeper meaning of your statement wherin you saying the MSM wouldn't go near an unproven allegation if it involved Obama is not flatly contradicted by the birther nonsense?

This is reminding me more and more of the Rob Ford saga. A credible professional stakes their integrity on information they received from sources that must remain anonymous. Rabid defenders question that person's integrity and that of the media for reporting on it without verification. Then they deny the possibility of its existence, even though the politician involved does not seem to be above that behaviour and is obviously lying about it. Eventually the truth comes out after the guy is dead.

The main difference is the Star reporters didn't have to hide for fear that they and their families would suddenly die of polonium exposure.

Here is the profile of the guy who started this "unsubstantial rumor", and the circumstances wherein he started it.

quote:

Mr Steele's reports circulated for months among major media outlets, including Reuters, but neither the news organisations nor US law enforcement and intelligence agencies have been able to corroborate them.

:unquote

Steele really does sound like a guy who would start a rumor just for the hell of it, doesn't he...   After all, instead of just presenting the report to his employers (who were Trump's political enemies), he deemed it of sufficient national interest to submit it to the Country's highest law-enforcement officials.

Yeah, i know it's been around, and it's not been reported on because it's based on unsubstantiated anonymous intel sources.  Suddenly it gets "leaked" 2 week before the inauguration.  If this intel had been about Obama, the MSM would not touch it with a ten foot pole, but the same Media that wouldn't believe the official CIA report on Iraq's WMD's before the US invasion are now believing an unsubstantiated report based on anonymous intel rumour.

BTW, Steele was hired to dig up this dirt on Trump by, you guessed it, Dem organizations.  They didn't use it during the election.  Care to make any guesses why?

Actually Steele (Orbis Business Intelligence) was hired by FusionGPS on behalf of some unnamed Republicans during the Primaries, rumour has it that Jeb Bush was the main instigator but that has yet to be confirmed.

Yep, I heard that last night.  Interesting to say the least.

The report didn't say he took part, merely that he watched. Anyway, he might be a germophobe but it clearly hasn't stopped him having adulterous affairs with women. By his own admission.

There's SOMETHING going on between Trump and the Russians. It could simply be they have the same way of doing things:

http://www.nybooks.com/daily/2016/12/13/putin-paradigm-how-trump-will-rule/

or that Trump seeks bigger, badder mobster buddies:

The links between Trump and Putin represent the most undercovered story of the entire sad, sordid Trump saga.  While he's using refugees as pawns to generate controversy, this story is being largely ignored.

Quote

A senior Russian intelligence officer and cybersecurity investigator arrested last month on treason charges allegedly was passing information to U.S. intelligence services, according to Russian media outlets.

Quote

In another twist, Russian media says the FSB believes Mikhailov tipped U.S. intelligence about Vladimir Fomenko and his server rental company "King Servers." The U.S. cybersecurity company Threat Connect identified King Servers last year as an "information nexus" used by hackers suspected of working for Russian intelligence in cyberattacks on electoral systems in Arizona and Illinois.

That's right.  Shortly after Trump was read in on top secret information, the Russians were arresting a senior spy for passing information to US intelligence.

Everything about the relationship between Trump and Putin stinks.  Why has Trump been so complimentary to Putin?  Why has be brought so many pro-Putin, pro-Russian people into his cabinet?  Why won't he be forthcoming about his business holdings in Russia?  What of the Steele dossier?  Why has Trump denied that Russia was hacking the election is his favor?  Why WAS Russia hacking the election in his favor?

None of these questions has been satisfactorily answered and now Trump is in perfect position to cover up and distract; not to mention stymie investigation.

Because President Trump wants better U.S. relations with Putin's Russia.   President Obama really screwed things up.

If Canada wants to fight Russia....go for it...alone.

The Muslim ban also distracts attention from the KGB leader tied to the Trump dossier mysteriously being found dead in the backseat of his car. People don't get killed for leaking false information. They just get killed when it's all true.

This whole thing is so crazy that if you took the story to a Hollywood studio, they'd tell you it was just too far-fetched.

In today's world, what we may think is true  may not be the truth and we don't know if its true what going between Trump and Putin, because there are  very rich people out there that have the big bucks want to frame Trump for their own reasons and so I think we should take all this info. with a grain of salt until we are 100%  sure.

Maybe the following link would help understand what is going on in the US and  the two main groups that are against each other and this may surprise you. BTW, the article says Putin and trump are meeting each other in 2 weeks in Iceland, which I hadn't heard. I know some of u may not like the following link but please at least read it before u throw it out.                                        http://www.globalresearch.ca/divided-nation-president-trump-declares-war-on-ruling-elite-as-media-and-protesters-declare-war-on-him/5570449
