The High Court of the United Kingdom has told the Brexit supporters that there will be no Brexit exit until a vote has been taken in the British Parliament. Well, who would have thought that the no Brexit exit people would have found a way to stop Britain from leaving the European Union. The no Brexit exit people have now sealed the deal that there will be no exit as I am pretty sure that when the vote is taken, all the bought off politicians will no doubt be voting for Britain to stay in the European Union. What a kick in the face that will be for the Brexit supporters who won the referendum to leave the EU fair and square. If the phony politicians say no to Brexit, I can see a lot of trouble ahead as I am pretty sure that the Brexit exit people will not take it lying down. At least I hope that they won't take it lying down if the fake politicians decide that democracy will not win this day. It is dam sad when the will of the people can just be thrown aside by a bunch of politicians who are paid by those Brexit supporters, and basically are going to be told too just shut up and sit down, and accept your loss. We the politicians are the boss, not you.

The court decided last week that Parliament should get a vote on when the process of leaving the EU starts.

The Daily Mail branded the judges "enemies of the people", while UKIP's Nigel Farage warned of street protests if the referendum result was ignored.

The government is appealing against the ruling and the PM said it would be setting out "strong legal arguments".

It didn't need to go to the High Court to get that ruling, that is how the British Parliamentary system works.

Doesn't matter. The High Court has just opened up a can of worms. The people want Brexit and the fake politicians better not try and give the finger to the Brexit supporters. They are three million strong, a lot of people for the phony politicians to have to deal with if they say no Brexit will happen. Revolt time on the arisen if the Brexit supporters are denied their win.

Elected politicians are phoney. What would you consider non phoney politicians to be.

A politician should be a person who believes in real freedom of speech, less government, less taxes. A politician who is politically incorrect and his or her own person, and not one that has to be a suck to some special interest groups to get ahead. A politician for the people, and not for big corporations, and who the fake and phony media despise sort of like how Trump is hated by the mainstream lame duck media. A politician who will end political correctness, multiculturalism, bilingualism, third world immigration, and foreign-aid.

A politician like that would work really fine for me. :)

They can't ignore the result of the referendum. They can hold another referendum and hope for a different result but ignoring a referendum, no matter how non-binding it was, would set a dangerous precedent.

It could present an interesting situation. If individual MP's vote according to how the majority of people in their riding voted in the referendum, they wouldn't be ignoring the referendum. That might result in enough MP's voting to stay. Not too many years ago, we had a Provincial election where the losing party had a slight majority of total votes. Also a bit like the Electoral College in the US taking precedence over the popular vote. Clinton did get around 150,000 more votes than Trump.

Just because a politician doesn't agree with you doesn't make them phoney.

You asked me and I gave you my answer above.

Well, 62% of Scots voted to remain in the EU, so if the 59 Scots MP's voted to remain, would that make them phoney?

It showed that those politicians listened to their constituents as they should do. Unfortunately for Canadians we are generally not allowed to have referendums on most government policies. Abortion being one of them. I believe that the phony politically correct politicians in Canada would never allow a vote on abortion to happen.

I'm not going to get into an abortion debate but.

A. There is little popular support for a referendum.

B. The SC struck down previous abortion legislation and made it very clear that you cannot vote away person's rights. There is no reason to think they wouldn't strike down down any other legislation restricting access.

If you think total votes in a referendum should be the only criteria, Hillary Clinton should be the President elect today, not Donald Trump.

The referendum was not binding. The court has just said that Parliament cannot shirk its responsibility.

Referendums are never binding when the political elite don't like the outcome. However, one must give credit to Theresa May as she is pushing Brexit forward even trhough she supported remain but she respects the outcome of the referendum.

As recently as only 10-15 years ago all across Europe it was very common that the left were very anti-EU or at least very critical of it. The EU was seen as a capitalist-plot to suppress the rights of the workers. In the referenda on the EU-treaties in France, Denmark and Ireland it was the left which campaigned for the alternatives which were against the wishes of the EU.

Since then a strange 180-degree turnaround has happened. At some point in time the left has changed its stance and these days by some twisted logic being anti-EU is equated with fascism and people who are anti-EU are treated like as if they are fascists.

It would be interesting to know what has caused this turnaround.

The vote seems to have been more of a plebiscite than a referendum given it turns out not to have been binding on its own after all. The UK lacks a simple, written constitution in one document so such misunderstandings are prone to arise. I do think Brexit will grind on, however, and the effects, of course, are impossible to predict: politically in Scotland and NI where the Remain vote was particularly strong and economically everywhere.

Vote means nothing, its what the queen wants.

Brexit will happen, no doubt about it. The people have demanded it, and the puppet on a string politicians better not try to deny the people their Brexit. There will be chaos in the streets if they dare try not to go forward with Brexit. That I am pretty sure of and the bought off politicians know it. We all should know by now that just about all politicians have and do show contempt for the will of the people. I believe that all politicians that make it into politics are taken into the back room and told as to how the real political game is played, and do not try to change things if you know what is good for you. Do as you are told, and you will do just fine. At least this is what I have picked up from my years of following politics and as to how the political system and politicians think and work. Prove me wrong if anyone can.

The UK Parliament has approved proceeding with Brexit.  That was the main hurdle.  I don't think anything is going to stop Brexit now.  Scotland cannot hold another referendum on separation unless the UK parliament approves and the British PM has said no to another referendum.

They tried to make a move to stop Brexit from happening, but failed. Seems even the British Parliament is infested with colluding Euro-pansy leftists, who think they can pull a fast one on people.

Brexit may break up the UK. Scotland and NI are being forced out of the EU against their will.
