How Christians reconcile supporting the devil

Do you seriously think Jesus would approve of Trump?

And if Jesus was not involving himself in the political world and advising his followers to also keep themselves separate, why would Christians allow themselves to be so involved in politics, whether its supporting a lying adulterer, or seeking political power and calling themselves Christian?

I already explained why I thought Trump's base voted for him.  The alternative was worse in their minds.   Fro all we know Trump may have repented for his past sins and been forgiven.  I don't know his personal beliefs.  You can concentrate on those kinds of things if it will ease your conscience but I think his alleged past has nothing much to do with governing the country and the promises he made to build a wall and take action to make America great again.  Saving unborn babies is like saving the Jews being sent to the holocaust.  If you don't think that is important there isn't much I can say.  If you think Trump's alleged groping is a more important consideration than saving America, we can't possibly agree on much.  Hillary would not stop the illegal immigration and in fact probably bring in many more and not deport criminals.  America is in a mess with drugs and crime and a lot from undocumented illegals.  Obama was hurting the energy industry, blocking Keystone XL, and planning to spend billions on climate change.    Hillary was no saint, neither was her husband.  She wasn't kind to Clinton's women victims who came forward either.  For that matter, nobody is perfect.  The Bible says all are sinners and need to be born again.   Politics is not made of saints;  it has people of all types and kinds.  Christians must support their country as well as anyone else and make what they see is the best choice from what there is available.

There's nothing wrong with a wall, per se.  I have a fence around my vegetables to keep the critters out.  Only it didn't cost 5 billion dollars, actually does keep the critters out, and I didn't build it just to maintain my popularity.

And that said, Jesus did have a lot to say about border walls.  The problem is it was all in one of those dead sea scrolls that some peasant burned to keep warm.  Don't ask me how I know.

Don't know if you ever watch those channels that show border security agents running around the U.S.-Mexican border trying to catch illegal migrants coming but it is a steady struggle.  Also watch the cocaine manufacturing and underworld in Columbia and other places and how they ship it into America.   Billions of dollars worth.

The Americans use helicopters, ATVs, trucks, police on foot constantly struggling.  One the illegals come in all they can do is arrest them and process them and let them go.  They are supposed to appear in a future hearing.  It is a hopeless situation because previous administrations laws allow border crossers to stay once they set foot on American soil.  Similar to Canada.  A wall might do a lot by making it physically impossible to get in.  Without the wall there is no hope of stopping them from continuing to pour in.

Also, a lot of these migrants are coming from central America and Africa, bad places.  Lots of crime and bad dudes.  Many of the ones who get into America head for Canada because they know our system is generous and possibly they will have a better chance of staying in Canada.  If rejected by the refugee board at some distant time, they might just disappear into the woodwork and work under the table.

Donald Trump is about as far from being a Christian, about as far from a man who upholds Christian values and virtues as it's possible to find in a western country. I could easily make the case that Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy, was a far better representative of Christian virtues, through his long years of dedicated support for the downtrodden, his campaigning for womens rights and the rights of minorities and those improperly convicted in jails.

Purely on his own self-admission, and on his own representation, without taking into account what others say, Trump is a hedonist of the first order, a selfish, wretched, covetous adulterer and sinner who has never shown any interest in helping others, but only in satisfying his own lust and narcissistic desire for fame and adulation. By all accounts, and by simple observation, a cruel and intolerant man with a mean streak a mile wide, it seems impossible that anyone who actually believes in Christian ideals would be anything but repulsed by Donald Trump. Yet any number of prominent political Christian leaders have endorsed him.

This despite the fairly obvious fact he has spent as little time in church as possible, has never read the bible, nor understands it (nor cares about it), and has, up until his run for president, taken positions entirely at odds with the social values Christians believe in, including a long history of supporting abortion.

Principled Christians, of course, do not support Trump. Christianity Today, the magazine founded by Billy Graham, in an editorial last week said “Enthusiasm for a candidate like Trump gives our neighbors ample reason to doubt that we believe Jesus is Lord. They see that some of us are so self-interested, and so self-protective, that we will ally ourselves with someone who violates all that is sacred to us.”

The editorial criticized the Republican nominee in biblical terms. Quoting a list of sins that St. Paul condemns — “sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry” — Crouch wrote, “this is an incredibly apt summary of Trump’s life to date.”

The fact so many self-described Christians continue to endorse Trump seems, to me, to lay bare their hypocrisy, and to raise the question of what kind of commitment their religion has when it can be ignored for perceived political gain.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2016/10/11/christianity-today-blasts-trump-questions-support-for-someone-who-violates-all-that-is-sacred-to-us/

The thing to remember the Bible says all are sinners and worthy of damnation.  Sure there are different kinds of sinners.  Some hedonists, some adulterers, some crooked in their dealings with others, and some crooked politicians who will say anything to get elected.  No use going through the list of possible sins.  The fact is someone who not as bad a sinner as others still doesn't get into heaven according to the Bible unless he is born again.  So non-believers in Christ will be in the company of all kinds of different sinners from the world's worst tyrants, the sexual sinners, the crime gangs, and all the down to the kid on the block whose sins might seem insignificant.   It is foolish to compare one's self with somebody like Trump and think that will get one into heaven.  It won't.  Maybe one hasn't committed the same class of sins but that doesn't absolve one from all the other sins that people commit daily.  That's why God sent his son into the world to save lost sinners, including someone like Trump.  Who knows what he believes?  It is foolish to judge.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  John 3:16  The worst mistake someone can make is to think he is not as bad as some other guy and think that this will be enough to get him into heaven.

Better to believe the Holy Scripture.   Read Luke ch17 vs 19-31.  King James Bible.    Jesus gave this account of a rich man in hell and Lazarus.  It doesn't say it was a parable. It must be taken as fact.

How can we discern which light is of God and which light is of Satan? Our minds and hearts are easily confused by conflicting messages. How can we make sure we are on the right path? Psalm 119 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (verse 105) and “The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple” (verse 130).

The words of God have power. Just as God’s voice spoke physical light into existence, it can speak spiritual light into our hearts. Exposure to His voice – in His Word – will help us recognize the difference between the good light of God and that which is counterfeit.

That's why it's imperative to read (and study) the Bible.

Well, the Vatican, sure.  They care only about their jobs.  If there's no Hell today, there might be no Heaven tomorrow.  Then all the Cardinals are on the dole looking for jobs at Hortons under the  temporary foreign worker program.  I wouldn't put too much stock in their opinions.

It seems to be the general misconception among  many that, Christians - following the footsteps of Jesus -  should be non-sinners.  That any sinner who claims to be a Christian, or a Christian who endorses someone like Trump,  must be a hypocrite.  The Christian-hypocrisy card is often used by non-Christians to discredit Christianity.  However, those are red flags that clearly show that those who bring up those arguments are ignorant of the Scriptures.  They're clearly arguing about something they don't understand.

Another misconception surrounds the term,  peace.

Quote

Perhaps you came to Christ because someone told you that in Him, you would find peace. That’s true. In Christ, we experience peace with God (Rom. 5:1). Christ is the basis for peace between believers (Eph. 2:14). As much as is possible, we are to be at peace with all people (Rom. 12:18). And, in Christ we come to know a sense of inner peace, even in the face of tribulation, that we lacked before (John 16:33).

But while the Christian life is one of peace, it’s also one of constant warfare. As we serve Christ and seek to extend His kingdom, we’re at war with the evil powers of darkness (Eph. 6:10-20). We’re engaged in the battle between God’s truth and the lies of Satan that captivate the minds of the unbelieving (2 Cor. 10:3-5). And, as every Christian knows, there is a fierce inner battle that goes on between the flesh and the spirit, the old man and the new (Gal. 5:17).

If we do not learn how to overcome the strong inner urge to gratify the flesh, sin will take us captive and enslave us. Paul describes this war within in Romans 7:14-25.

As I explained in the previous two messages, some godly scholars understand these verses to be a description of Paul as an unbelieving Jew, striving but failing to keep God’s law. Others argue that Paul is describing the ongoing battle that he was experiencing as he wrote.

Even mature believers have to fight this battle against indwelling sin as long as they live.

It's one thing to judge Trump on the basis of his leadership, but it's quite another when folks are judging him as a "sinner."

Oft times, the very same people who brings up the Trump-is-a-sinner card, are usually the very same people who JUDGE  that any Christian who makes judgement on homosexuality as sin........is a hypocrite.

They can't even see the big difference:  we are allowed to discern right from wrong (and we use our judgement in doing that).  What sensible person doesn't use his judgement everyday, with practically everything he does?

Discerning and judging a behaviour as wrong, isn't the same as judging a man for his sins!

The title of this topic is quite ironic.  I think it aptly refers to supporters of Hillary.

When we look at policies that are promised to be implemented once a candidate wins, which platform is more devil-friendly?

There is a great deal of gargle here.   I know of no-one who WANTS an abortion - it is always the best of a bad choice.    From an honest point of view the best bet is usually abortion, though:  it is wicked to force life on an unwanted child in this extremely nasty society, and giving the child to someone else is very often to give it to child-abusers.   Self-righteous holy buggers should try living in the real world, not some silly place they imagine.

You're wrong.  The best of bad choice is to abstain from having that sex.....if you're not prepared  for it!   taking a cold shower isn't all that bad.

We all know what could result from having coitus.  It's the woman who may end up bearing the unwanted consequences - therefore, the onus is more on the woman - especially, in this self-centered climate we have - to ensure that she's prepared!

If you have to supply the condom - go for it!  Why gamble?

  What a pathetic lame response!   And you seem to have a touching faith in other things than condoms.    Is anything guaranteed 100% in life other than having bills and dying?

What do they tell you to wear to prevent getting AIDS and HIV?  You don't believe that?  So, you don't tell your son to wear condoms?  You don't remind your daughter about safe sex?  If you're a parent, wouldn't you want your kids to develop a "fondness" for condoms?

You think the term  safe sex, is simply just for preventing pregnancy?

No wonder STD is still such a big problem!

Just shows you - by your response - all that pricey tag on so-called educating the masses  about safe sex.......why it hasn't  worked!

And we want more education??? If education had done nothing here in this society - why do we expect it to work any wonders in Africa?

You want to be more careful?   No one stops a woman from using more than one kind of method at one time!  What's wrong with condoms AND something else?  Can't women figure that out?

A pal of mine, who used to get around a bit, always insisted that between 'em they should use three.    He clocked up 100 notches on his belt as well as turning into a billionaire, the sort you doubtless admire.    We used to suggest he fill the relevant organs with concrete!

Going back to the title........I can't help but think of the irony!

See, why the Dems policy is  devil-friendly?

STD must be one of the big reasons why God is so against fornication?  Immorality?

I didn't mention the Devil because it is impolite to be rude about what people worship.    Enjoy your black mass!

You do go on a bit, don't you?   We are discussing whether we have abortion or the forced birth of unwanted children to people who can't look after them,

The use  of CONDOM - or any pregnancy-prevention method, is at the heart of the discussion about HAVING UNWANTED children!

If women use preventive methods, there wouldn't be so many unwanted children!

And I'm saying, safe sex  isn't only about preventing pregnancy!   Hello?   Where have you been all these years???  A woman gets double benefit when she demands her partner uses condom!  Tow birds with one stone, so to speak.

If getting pregnant doesn't scares a woman, getting STD ought to!

......and you're 'Christian' position is to condemn children to your smelly capitalist hell.    Just don't feel holy about it!
