They'll lose more than they gain by that. There's a reason the PCs don't exist anymore.

You might have noticed the Tories were completely shut out of the Maritimes, heavily damaged in Ontario and have little to show for Quebec. If they want to be a national party, the Reform fetishism of Western Tories has to die.

Should the permanent leader be from outside Alberta then? Is that what you mean? Would it be fair to not even consider Albertan CPC members?

I think, if the CPC is smart, that they would select a leader from outside Alberta who is more PC than CPC...

Precisely why Harper never filled the deputy PM headcount.

The Tories seemed to lose faith in their ethnic strategy with C24 and the niqab/cultural practices furor. It hurt their candidates in the GTA, as Paul Calandra noted, and made them look more like a throwback to Reform. I can tell you right now that C24 raises a question mark in the mind of any naturalized Canadian as to whether the list of crimes meriting loss of citizenship will be extended at some point. If they want to be a national party like the Liberals, they have some decisions to make.

Fetish? You mean a desire for small, efficient, honest government? I wasn't aware that was a western fetish. Maybe I should start adjusting my porn feeds.

The Tories actually increased their representation in Quebec. They took over thirty seats in Ontario. They were shut out of the Atlantic provinces, but that's largely because the candyman pranced and danced and smiled and waved and threw promises of more and more money at the pogey provinces, and of course, they had no reason not to dance along with him.

Your contempt for a whole region of this country mirrors that of your leader. Which is why he got no seats here. How come you can away with that on this forum? Edited by SpankyMcFarland

You people on the Left are horrified by the very concept of freedom of speech, aren't you?

What's with this stampede for the interim post? Does it come with Air Miles or something? A coronation for Kenney would not be good for him or the party.

It comes with an $80k per year bonus, larger staff and a car and driver. Plus some other stuff I'm sure....

Those descriptors above are none of the things that this government delivered at all.

It's the xenophobic, "old stock", real Canadians kind of garbage that is a turnoff to anyone outside their base.

I disagree.

It's the xenophobic, "old stock", real Canadians kind of garbage that is a turnoff to anyone outside their base.

Interesting, then, that 'new Canadians' are more likely to vote Conservative than 'old stock Canadians'.

Apparently they aren't as capable of detecting xenophobia as the "tolerant" Left

Rhetoric. Go look up the facts. The Harper government has shrunk considerably vs any Liberal government.

oh really?

Here's a chart of gov't expenditures over the years. The charts go to 2012, but to say that they spent less than any Liberal governement ever is either a bald-faced lie, or an ignorant claim. It's so easy to check whether you know what you're talking about, but you didn't bother.

I suppose it would be dificult to spend less than the 90's liberals who decimated the country with budget cuts, actual real ones, unlike the phony lies that have been told about the conservatives, i doubt you much care about that truth. anyway, and fyi. your links dont work.

I thought conservatives wanted smaller government... do you, or don't you?

Or does it just depend on if your favourite party is in power?

What comes out of conservative mouths:

Smaller gov't = good

Spending = bad

The reality:

cuts if done by Liberals = bad

Conservative record spending and deficits = good

Go lookup the Government's own #'s.

Hell go look it up in Harper's biography, not not autobiography as there isn't one.
