Baltimore Riots

I believe Hobbes's moral philosophy is no longer useful in now in US or in Canada. The reason is that now there are too many laws. Lots of laws are against traditional moral. The result is traditional moral system has been destroyed by the legal system. So nice people can easily find himself a law breaker if he does that. Shop keeper find him break law when he try to catch a thief, priest find himself break law when he wrote a letter express his worry about same sex marriage, a youth find himself break a law when try to stop a thug teenage bully a young girl, law has prevent people from help each other, law has prevent people doing many health things. New laws has been made very fast based on one or two cases that appeared on media campaign, instead of careful analysis of its side effects. Nice behavior has been restricted. Bad behavior becomes more and more common. This is reason, a problem that US democracy is not able to solve.

For starters, the division of powers is completely antithetical to Hobbesian theory. But you apparently have such a great understanding of him that I don't need to tell you that.

What are you talking about? Hobbes' theories transposed English Restoration, with Hobbes in the Roundhead/Cromwell camp, a period of time when England very much so had a "division of powers".....Of course Ole King Chuck the 1st thought different and lost his head over the misunderstanding.

You posted The Leviathan, which is completely opposed to the division of powers and calls for absolute power in the sovereign.

Ahhhh.....no, perhaps you should read it, in this, case Book II, chapters 16-20......of which, Hobbes describes the relationship social contract between the Sovereign and the Commonwealth......funny enough, his description still survives today:

And funny enough, we don't have the same division of powers as they do in the United States. Imagine that.

I never suggested that we did.........But (to steer this slightly back on topic), the framers of the United States Constitution based the then new nations legal system on English Common Law, the "division" of the Crown, Parliament and Justices, as a result of the English Civil War.......a civil war fought unto the division of power away from a solitary Monarch.....or President.

Jesus. You're all over the place. You brought up The Leviathan. I told you it's antithetical to the US Constitution. You claimed that it wasn't and asked what parts it contradicts. So I tell you the division of powers and you respond with some garbage nonsense about our monarchy. So I inform you that we don't have the same kind of division of powers as the United States. Now you'er saying you didn't suggest we did. It's like arguing with someone who has alzheimers.

Dunno. But I think that they were charged at all represents some kind of progress. Not to mention another dagger int the "Gray severed his own spine!!11one!!!" narrative.

Only a complete moron would believe a person handcuffed in the back of a van could sever their own spine.

All six cops involved are going to be charged in connection with Gray's death.

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby gave an update on the investigation into the death of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old who died after suffering a spinal cord injury while in police custody in April, calling his death a homicide.

"We have probable cause to file criminal charges," Mosby said in a press conference Friday.

Charges including second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault, among others, will be filed against the officers involved in Gray's arrest, Mosby said.

Good.

Get the violent thugs-with-badges off the street and into prison where they belong.

NOTE TO POLICE:

Tolerating and covering up for violent criminals among your own ranks makes you all look bad, destroys public confidence and may get some innocent cops killed.

If people feel they may be beaten or killed if police approach them, even innocent people will evade police and defend themselves however they can.

Or they will just comply with lawful police detention and/or arrest without further incident, riots, injury, or death. That's what happens the "vast majority" (favorite MLW meme) of the time.

Wait a sec, thats impossible, we have our own reknowned expert pontificating that...

Update: Medical report states that Gray suffered injury in the police van, corroborating the report that he was trying to injure himself.

How could that be???

I don't feel bad.....the violence is just part of the deal. Lots more people in the U.S. than in Canada...by choice.

Lots more sheeple.

You are told from birth that you are the greatest, when in fact you are one of the worst countries, certainly among the most evil of countries, with scads of the most downright ignorant folks one could imagine.

But stay deluded and proud.

And stay there. That's the wish of so many of the poor of the world who wish you would stop murdering their children and stop stealing their wealth.

Always have...always will. No need to cross the border for cheaper gas and cigarettes....or television programming.

The poor of the world have always preferred the USA over Canada. 330,000,000 vs. 35,000,000....I leave the math to you.

Baltimore is just more entertainment for chronic boredom "north of the border".

Why'd you post a picture of a fat old cow who just happens to also be a war criminal and a terrorist.

Can you two trolls take your "U.S.WORST/U.S. BEST!" debate elsewhere?

That's your lame response to the "USA as an equal to the Nazis", BlackDog.

These issues are central to what the USA is and has always been, a corrupt, vicious nation of violent, amoral people.

Not all of course but more than enough to see through numerous holocausts.

But you keep on being "one of the strongest critics of US "policies"" on this board.
