Food Industry Regulations.

Recommended Posts

One has to wonder why Sugar is in 80% of processed foods, and the outright audacity of soft drink companies to advertise their products with the same deceit as tobacco once did before we got smart and started regulating it.

Another sad thing is how we tend to blame people who are obese that it is their fault, and that they just need more exercise, instead of protesting against these insidious companies that work to ruin people's health and destroy lives.

Well, the choice can be simply not to eat that kind of stuff. We also see an issue with glucose-fructose, which they are desperately trying to rename as 'corn sugar'. There are many ways to avoid the added sugars, eat fresh foods and stay away from anything processed. Also, stay away from fast food places, lots of sugar and salt in that processed 'food'.

Every day, we hear of more and more things that are not good for us. I quit listening when they declared that milk was no good for you because of fat, cholesterol ...

I have come to the conclusion that if it tastes good then it is not good for you and if it feels good then it is probably illegal.

The only two things that I now believe is that we're here for a good time and not a long time and this startling statistic;

After years of research, it has been concluded that 100% of Canadians die.

Everything we’ve been told about food and exercise for the past 30 years is dead wrong. FED UP is the film the food industry doesn’t want you to see. From Katie Couric, Laurie David (Oscar winning producer of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) and director Stephanie Soechtig, FED UP will change the way you eat forever.

Special diets

If you know the right tricks and twists, dietary restrictions don't have to mean compromising on flavour. This month Jamie's written some amazing new vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free recipes, and we've got great features from our writers too.

Sugar or some variant of it is used as a preservative in most products to increase shelf-life.

Yes. That only true if you're talking about canned or preserved goods.

Alot of sugar and salt goes simply into make food taste better especially with processed foods. People are built to like things that are sugary, salty or fatty because for most of human history that was what was missing from our diet. Now the reverse is true and companies are designing food towards these tastes. With the consequense being our current obsesity epidemic. Our government definitely has a role in stopping this. EIther through regulation or public health campaigns. But that the same time we can't talk about obese people as if they are blameless. At the end of the day we are each responsible for our own health, they are clearly choosing wrongly, and it's affecting all of us.

What are you looking for?

You're running a quadruple post there. Perhaps this Monsanto hate fest isn't interesting to this board (heck I can barely get people to talk about tech issues on this board)

People get tired of people basically telling them that everything they eat is crap. People don't purposely eat food just because they're in love with sugar.

I think people gloss over the idea that most of the salt and sugar they consume allow them to buy food that will last a few weeks, helping them reduce their food costs.
