Black Dog
Thought a one stop shop for all T.O. election talk (versus Ford scandal talk) would be worthwhile.I'll start with a quick and biased breakdown of the main event, the mayoral election. Here's the candidates and their platforms in a nutshellRob Ford: the incumbent. You might have heard of him. Platform: Same shit from 2010. John Tory: professional dilettante, former provincial PC leader and unsuccessful mayoral candidate in 2003; centre right alternative to Rob Ford. Platform: Build the DRL. That's all for now. Karen Stintz: city councillor, Rob Ford's handpicked TTC chair; centre right alternative to Rob Ford. Platform: transit and infrastructure heavy with a DRL, East Gardiner expressway solution. Also supports a joint Toronto-U.S. bid for the 2026 World Cup for some reason. David Soknacki: ex Mayor David Miller's former budget chief, but an avowed fiscal conservative. Platform: cut business licensing red tape, resurrect the Scarberia LRT . Olivia Chow: NDP MP. You might have heard of her. Platform: transit, DRL. Kids. Stuff like that. Morgan Baskin: 18 year old high school student. Probably more qualified for office than the incumbent. Platform: building a DRL.

Boges
Not a chance. First he doesn't even live here. Second, he's buds with RoFo. He was friends with the late Ford Patriarch, I seriously doubt him and Ford are Besties. That being said, of course he won't, he's going to get a plumb private sector gig. That being said, of course he won't, he's going to get a plumb private sector gig. Flahrety was one of the few to publicly stand by Ford during the crack scandal, even choked up when asked about it. Flaherty told Jason Kenney to "shut the f--- up" when the latter said Ford should step down. They're tight.
Big Guy
Still too much time until the election. It will be interesting to see where the "anybody but Ford" vote will eventually settle.

bjre
No one can be trusted, Ford is the only one that has something about tax and controling spending and subway project that worth me show a little support, otherwise, I prefer to support my son if he have the courage to have a try to be a candidate. It is better to give my son an oppertunity to join some social practise than let others just make a mess.
Black Dog
Could be a ''anybody but chow'' vote out there to? Lot's of options on the right and centre for that. Some of whom aren't drunken crack smokers!
Black Dog
Sarah Thomson, who ran in 2010, is now in the race. Be interesting to see if Rob Ford tries to grope her again during one of the debates.

g_bambino
Here's the candidates and their platforms in a nutshell Well, RoFo is definitely off my list. But, who among the others seems most appealing is hard to determine. I'm wary of Chow's priorities and the associated financing, but am reserving definite judgment until I see more of her platform (assuming more is coming). That subway "relief line" is an absolute necessity, though.

Ironically, tax and spend socialist Chow is the only one to not jump on the DRL train, saying they need to figure out how to fund it first, even as Tory talks about putting shovels in the ground. Mmm.. Wouldn't that be the "let's build subways before we know how to pay for them" train she's not jumping on, rather than the "a downtown relief line is needed" one? If she's saying one's needed but how it'll be funded must be considered, then, that makes sense to me. But, I don' t know right now that that is what she's saying. Admittedly, I haven't looked... Just interesting that that is more of a fiscally conservative message than anything from the actual fiscal conservatives.

Mighty AC
Could be a ''anybody but chow'' vote out there to? RoFo's participation in this election greatly improves Chow's chance of winning. He will split some anti-Chow support with Tory. It will be like the opposite of a Federal election.
WWWTT
The most incredible thing that could ever come out of this election would be RF getting re-elected (yes even more incredible than RF saying that I must have been too drunk to remember that I was smoking crack!). Olivia Chow is obviously the most experienced candidate. She has an incredible team that will be knocking on doors, strong grass roots and probably lots of big names will be helping her. So far, I would say this election is hers to lose. WWWTT

Michael Hardner
Olivia Chow is obviously the most experienced candidate. Experience with what ? I don't think there is an apples-to-apples comparison for the experience of the candidates. If it came down to it, we'd have to admit RoFo has the most experience in the mayor's chair. She has an incredible team that will be knocking on doors, strong grass roots and probably lots of big names will be helping her. So far, I would say this election is hers to lose. Yes, but she doesn't really inspire confidence - even in her political backyard.

I seriously doubt that compensates for all the other experience that Olivia has! And add to it RF was drunk/smoking crack/dope for that term, what experience did he get out of that? Sounds like you have been living in a cave and never heard of Toronto before MH This link shows how ignorant you are of the political reality! http://ri.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVixS_C1TNTcAUq0XFwx.;_ylu=X3oDMTBybnV2cXQwBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMgRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--/RV=1/RE=1395609043/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww.oliviachow.ca%2fabout/RS=%5EADAq8dUB3V8fY8wJhIwtiyYnYB9muM- Check the link out Shady! Olivia Chow is a political heavyweight! She is among an elite group of Canadian politicians with a very wide diverse field of political spectrum!
