socialist
I am disusted by the latest attack ad against Justin Trudeau. This ad just shows that the CONS are nothing more than bullies. The worst thing about this ad is it shows how little respects CONS have for teachers. That is truly disusting. A lot of teachers are mad and the CONS can kiss their majority good-bye next election, thank goodness. They won't even et a minority. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/travel/Teachers+insulted+Harper+Tories+Trudeau+attack+that+target+their+profession/8294349/story.html

Bryan
As usual, the union is lying. Big surprise. There's nothing in the ad that disparages public school teachers. Trudeau was a part-time drama instructor at a private school where kindergarten tuition is $14,500 a year.

Bryan
Now you're lying too. Also not a surprise.
Argus
Lying about what? The CONS hate teachers and they will pay for it. Phhht. The teachers, more than most unions, have been politically active against conservatives for decades, whether at the federal or provincial level. So one cannot expect conservatives to give any notice, care, respect or interest in the wishes or desires of teachers. They know the teachers are their enemies and treat them accordingly. PIK
And most of the pop agrees with them. The day teachers quit whinning about how tough they have it, is the day people may start respecting them again. It was the teachers themselves that lost the public trust. Moonlight Graham
The ad doesn't really disparage teachers in general, it's making the point that being a drama teacher for 2 years gives a person very little credentials/skills that would make them a qualified Prime Minister compared to other professions (ie: many MP's are former lawyers, private-sector business owners/businessmen, economists etc.). Teaching drama would also be less useful in terms of knowledge as opposed to a history/social science or business teacher...but i'm sure his drama background helps Justin when it comes to public speaking. The commentary in the article suggests they are suggesting Trudeau is gay because he is a drama teacher. No idea how they made that quantum leap. The biggest bullshit statement I've ever read on this forum. Teachers are well respected by parents unless they are loony cons. Almost certainly the opposite is true. Find an area where most voters vote conservative, and schools in those areas usually have the best behaved, most focused students as well. Goes with the whole stable 2-parent household, financially secure thing, or the rural thing. Teachers want to teach those kids, and they all want to work at those schools. Find the areas where most people vote NDP, and you will have found the schools teachers are trying to avoid because of the kinds of kids those voters raise. Are you able to formulate any more generalizations. You've been watchin too much Leave It To Beaver and father Knows Best reruns if you think two parent families make any differnce in society today. They probably have the opposite effect. Rural folks are usually intolerant and uneducated and teach their kids intolerance. That is why public schools are needed to raise kids and erase all the garbage and intolerance they learn at home. Your post reeks of caveman talk. jacee
I know the Conservatives are playing to their angst-ridden base by trashing teachers. I do wish they had the sophistication to recognize that their politics of division is counter-productive in the long run.

The day teachers quit whinning about how tough they have it, is the day people may start respecting them again. It was the teachers themselves that lost the public trust. Teachers do have it pretty tough. Several of my relatives were teachers and I know how tough they have it. Kids can be very stressful to deal with sometimes and teachers don't just work their 35 hours a week in the classroom. There is designing lesson plans, correcting tests, often extra-curricular activities. It's not an easy job. The reason teachers oppose the conservatives is because conservatives are anti-union and anti-government jobs. Of course they are going to be opposed to that, its just common sense. Still not all teachers are Liberal or NDP, there are actually teachers out there that are conservative, at least on social issues anyways.
