Explosions at the Boston Marathon

So someone sets off a bomb to deliberately kill innocent people in the US and you reach back eleven years to when the US accidentally killed the wrong people in a middle of a war zone? There is something seriously wrong with you.

And on top of all that, he presents it as "today" .....

Let’s be reasonable…….At the very least, a national background check system for pressure cookers, coupled with a ban on high capacity pressure cookers…

Glad you find this so amusing. Of course your inane jokes leave out the point that pressure cookers are designed to make food, and almost impossible to hurt anyone with, notwithstanding some psycho religious nut putting bombs into them. Guns are designed only to kill people.

Funny that…….Mine, like the vast majority of others, never have well in my possession, yet they’ve sure aided in getting food……
And for the record, I never indicated that I found the topic of the OP amusing, but what I did find as such was Topaz’s post.
Get over yourself.

No they're not. They're designed for hunting, too.

Shotguns and bolt action rifles are designed for hunting. Hand guns and assault type weapons are designed only to kill people.

You guys were joking around about it, still fixed on your gun freedom zealotry.

And if all you cared about was hunting you'd be in favor of banning hand guns and assault type rifles.

But these ones are alright:

Shotguns and bolt action rifles are guns. You said "guns." But here you go:

Sure……..Dirty Harry’s Smith & Wesson Model 29 with the .44 Remington Magnum cartridge was developed as compact gun for usage against dangerous game……..The AR-15 is also a popular varmint and wild pig gun, for the weak cartridge it’s chambered in makes it wholly unsuitable for hunting anything bigger then a dog……Now of course, the Remington R-25 chambered in .308 is a very relevant big game rifle:

People blown up by a bomb in Boston, Derek turns it into another gun thread complete with pictures. How cool is that.

Actually, guns were first brought up by Argus, and the talk of further restrictions on pressure cookers by Topaz.........I will gladly engage and counter such fallacies mind-you…But I wasn’t the first to draw such parallels.

I merely commented on you gun nuts joking around that now people will want to license pressure cookers, as if pressure cookers killed thousands of people every year...

You were the guy who started posting his gun porn again.

After just going through the thread quickly, the drift started back here:

http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/topic/22566-explosions-at-the-boston-marathon/page-7

As you can see, it started with “anti-gun nuts” referencing the 2nd amendment and kinder eggs……..amongst all the conspiracy theories……..Well my “return to the thread” a page or two later responded to Topaz’s post:

The latest report is saying they think a pressure cooker was used as one of the bombs and apparently they have been used in the past in bombings in the US and in Afghanistan. Great, so now if someone goes to buy one, they get the third degree ot maybe they will banned them from sell?? So I guess the FBI, will have to go through and find out how many pressure cookers have been sold in the last months.

Yet you decide to go after me and my “gun porn”……..That’s quite alright by me mind you, fore “gun nuts” like myself are in great moods and celebrating another victory, what with a further promise by the Obama administration to continue with their de facto guns and ammo marketing campaigns.

So what, you had to jump all over it complete with big picks of your favourite subject. Unless someone wants to advocate the same restrictions on explosives as currently exist for firearms in the US, I suggest this thread shows a little class and returns to it's original subject.

Sure, I‘ll “jump all over it” once someone quotes me in said thread like Argus did……..No skin off my nose.
I find the irony in one Topaz’s suggestion that “pressure cookers” might become regulated in future…..well….ironic
Simply put, pressure cookers, like firearms, when in the hands of the vast majority of law abiding, semi-educated, citizens pose no risk to the public at large……..Of course you will get from time to time an idiot that burns down his house trying to deep fry his Thanksgiving turkey, just as you will get an idiot causing death or injury with a gun……
As you will also get deranged or fanatical people that turn such objects into weapons……clearly the vast majority of law abiding folks alongside their pressure cookers and guns are not to blame for the actions of a tiny minority, just as laws banning or restricting the use of guns and pressure cookers in the hands of law abiding folks won’t lesson the desire of said deranged fanatics to harm their fellow (wo)man.
Perhaps, and just throwing this out there (and luckily I’m not the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada), we should look at the “root causes” of why a small segment of society desires to harm people with pressure cookers and guns……..then address those “root causes”………

You find it a great victory that gun nuts have managed to defeat a motion to have background checks on people who buy guns?

And you wonder why others consider you a gun nut...

I sure do.......and the aftermath and response by the "anti-gun-nuts" is priceless.......And with the promise not to end their "fight", they will only further line the pockets of gun advocacy groups like the NRA and the gun makers, creating in effect only a stepper hill to climb for themselves.

Topaz just made a quip about pressure cookers being regulated. You could have left it alone but no, you had to bring in the gun issue with talk of registries and regulating their capacities complete with 8X10 glossies of your favourite toys. One thing has become perfectly clear to me. The chances of Congress banning pressure cookers is much greater than it doing anything meaningful about the carnage caused by firearms so show a little class and go back to your my dead hands thread and gloat there. While I really hate contributing to thread drift and I don't understand why gun control had to be brought into this thread as well, I have to point out that the reason Derek posted the pictures was to point out that the distinction being made between "hunting" and "assault type" weapons is silly: the "tactical guns" in the first post and the "regular hunting guns" in the second post are the exact same guns.

Frankly kimmy, I don't give a shit what Derek was doing. Where this thread has gone is just plain disgusting.

Everybody else is politicizing the Boston bombing, so why not try and find a gun control angle too?

"It happened because of the sequester!"

"No, it happened because Obama is soft on terror!"

"No, it happened because of US imperialism!"

"Oh yeah? What if it was radical anti-government kooks instead of Muslim kooks?"

"More people died today in Palestine than in Boston and nobody even cares!"

"Matt Damon!"

"False flag operation! It's all a government plan to take away more freedom!"

I'm disgusted too, but it's not just at this thread.

Actually I responded with a question relating to a registry for pressure cookers........And it was "left alone", until I responded to a comment made towards me by Argus.........But hey, get it all off your chest :)
