Hudson Jones Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 A third intifada is feared after several recent incidents. The incidents include Jewish settler violence, including shots fired, olive trees burnt and Palestinian villagers beaten. This was capped with a Palestinian dying after being tortured in the hands of Shin Bet, who denies the charges. Arafat Jaradat, a 29-year-old Palestinian detainee, died at the Shin Bet said that Jaradat was arrested last week on suspicion he hurled stones at an Israeli civilian during Operation. A statement issued by the Pillar of Defense. On Saturday, he fell ill and medics were unable to save him. Police launched an investigation. Jaradat's family was notified immediately after his death. Link Jaradat's body was dissected in the presence of a Palestinian pathologist, several family members and a legal team from the Palestinian Authority's Prisoner Affairs office. According to the institute, the autopsy revealed no external physical injuries other than those suffered during resuscitation attempts and a small bruise on the right side of the chest. The autopsy also did not find evidence of illness. "Two muscle bleedings were noted, one in the shoulder and one on the right side of the chest and on both elbows. "Two broken ribs on the right side were seen, which could be the result of the resuscitation attempts. These preliminary findings can't determine the cause of death," the forensic institute said. "At this stage, before the microscopic and toxicological tests have been finished, the cause of death can't be related to the autopsy's findings." Peanutbutter Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Your own quote shows the prisoner had no injuries other than those suffered during resuscitation. Sounds like the Israeli's did everything in their power to help this young man. Seems like a case of the anti Jewish side trying to find problems where none exist. I think the anti Jewish side would love nothing more than all out war against Israel and it seems like that's what they are try to provoke. Let's not forget that it was Hamas led Palestine that attacked Israel not very long ago. Quote Ah la peanut butter sandwiches! - The Amazing Mumferd
Hudson Jones Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 There is more from the autopsy and more information will be released: In a joint press conference, held in the central West Bank city of Ramallah, with the head of the Palestinians Prisoners Society (PPS), Qaddoura Fares, Qaraqe’ said that the autopsy was conducted at the Abu Kabeer Forensic Facility. The body of Jaradat carried clear signs of torture such as bruises, blisters and under skin blood clots in the back, especially over his spinal cord, on the neck and on his left shoulder, in addition to signs of torture on the left side of his chest, bruised mouth and face. Link We will have to see if Israel will agree to do an investigation or just let another questionable incident be forgotten. Imagine if such a thing had happened to Gilad Shalit. Imagine if Israeli prisoners were held in detention, without a hearing and trial indefinitely. Quote When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. Hudson Jones Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 It has been confirmed by an autopsy in Israel, that Jaradat was tortured to death: BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- An autopsy has revealed that Arafat Jaradat died of extreme torture in Israeli custody and did not have a cardiac arrest, the PA Minister of Detainee Affairs said Sunday. At a news conference in Ramallah, Issa Qaraqe said an autopsy conducted in Israel in the presence of Palestinian officials revealed that 30-year-old Jaradat had six broken bones in his neck, spine, arms and legs. "The information we have received so far is shocking and painful. The evidence corroborates our suspicion that Mr. Jaradat died as a result of torture, especially since the autopsy clearly proved that the victim's heart was healthy, which disproves the initial alleged account presented by occupation authorities that he died of a heart attack," Qaraqe said. Link The minister said Jaradat had sustained injuries and severe bruising in the upper right back area and severe bruises of sharp circular shape in the right chest area. The autopsy revealed evidence of severe torture and on the muscle of the upper left shoulder, parallel to the spine in the lower neck area, and evidence of severe torture under the skin and inside the muscle of the right side of the chest. His second and third ribs in the right side of the chest were broken, Qaraqe said, and he also had injuries in the middle of the muscle in the right hand. Jaradat's heart was in good condition and there were no signs of bruising or stroke, the minister added. Those who are responsible for this murder should be brought to justice. It hasn't been "confirmed;" that's simply the conclusion drawn by the PA Minister of Detainee Affairs. Israeli officials said more tests are needed to determine the cause of death, and Israel’s public security minister said he would allow an international expert to review the autopsy results. http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/02/26/palestinian-man-who-died-in-israeli-custody-buried-while-questions-remain-over-cause-of-death/ I think I'll wait for that - over the opinion of the PA Minister of Detainee Affairs. You have a point. We should wait for an independent investigation into the affair: UN urges independent probe of Palestinian death World body's political chief says Israel must conduct 'transparent' investigation into prisoner Arafat Jaradat's death; I hope Israel agrees to do this.
