What Are You Listening To?

I love live music. The Tea Party is a phenomenal live band and so is Matt Good. When I first heard Lazy Eye by Silversun five or six years ago I loved the song, but I thought the sound wouldn't work well live. As it turns out though, they are really good.

Anyway while on the topic of live acts, never pass up a chance to see Mumford and Sons or The Black Keys:

Lately I've been listening to the Silversun Pickups.

Heard of the band but never really listened to them, wow the lead singer/guitarist is phenomenal. That guy is pure rock n' roll.

One of my fav's is John Frusciante:

Lately? My wife got me hooked on The Voice! Now it's over and I wouldn't have guessed that Pope would take it all. I plan on checking out The Killers after seeing them live on the final episode. The lead singer has an interesting voice.

Check out the album Hot Fuss. That's their magnum opus.

The Black Keys are another outfit I've been listening to lately! I like the retro keyboard sound. They've made organ sound cool for the first time since Jon Lord left the business.

Speaking of retro keyboard sound, I just stumbled on this a few minutes ago: "Corey Chisel and the Wandering Sons".

I probably wouldn't have noticed the Black Keys until I heard them do "Lonely Boy" on Saturday Night Live about a year ago. The drums are front and center in this song:

Here's something I thought of posting earlier but never got around to it before. This is a virtual cover band that could only exist in the age of the internet. Three Americans from across the U.S.A., a German and an Argentinian, who met online and whom were all fans of 70's progressive rock band - YES...and had all covered YES songs in local tribute bands, got together online and contributed the parts to "Tempus Fugit" from the 1980 album - Drama, which was the one album that didn't feature Jon Anderson on vocals. Anyway, here it is, and I guess it shows that the internet is good for things besides invasion of privacy and internet porn:

Well, reripping all my CDs to mp3 again now that I have the space to do it. A few of my fave gems .. electronic music however.

This big black man is in my top 5 DJs of all time.

Both are two CD sets with some very sold house with that nice underground feel.

A little taste of the style this man plays.

Great song! Corey Chisel reminds me of Jacob Dylan with more personality.

Well if you guys like the eletrohouse (I am betting not many) I did another mix, it's definitely what I am listening to right now!

The cool thing about this is that I could do the same set of tracks and it will turn out quite different. Anyways.
