see how you didn't respond to the meat of my post but only just a few words.. clearly you didn't have a good enough rebuttal

This is a thread about Tebow and you have poisoned it with you prejudice.

No, I will not discuss matters (serious or otherwise) with someone of your ilk.

I can see what religion has done to the world and how it is used

Lots of things get used in a negative way in the world. Religion, science, politics, economics, patriotism, nationalism, etc.

Anyways, great job olp1fan! You've united forumers of all political persuations with your prejudice. It takes a "special" person to do that.

Indoctrination is evil, not good

True Christianity is not religion. Jesus had no use for religion and referred to the religious holy men of the day (Scribes and Pharisees) as a brood of vipers. So you have a point and I as a Christian agree with you that religion is of no use.

I have no problem with believing in a God, I don't believe this was all an accident or a series of random coincidences..to prove that all I have to do is look at how complex everything is and nature, everything around me..above me in the universe, but I do have a problem with religion and being told how to think

Jesus was not a religious man as you've pointed out, he was a spiritual man, but good luck telling that to a Christian this Christmas

Then I see people like Tebow using religion to make a name for himself..which you have to agree with..no one would care as much as they did if he wasn't doing the Tebow after every touchdown

Then you have Jesus in Politics...its the left wingers who usually try to say Jesus would be a socialist, or left winger

And you have celebrities crediting their talents to Jesus ..while people are starving to death all over the world they somehow think Jesus had something to do with their fortunes

One of those people is Tim Tebow

And that just pisses me right off

People like that disgust me

Tebow makes a name for himself because he's a talented football player. Say what you will about his skill set to be a pro QB, he's won at every single level he's played at. Won the Heisman, won two NCAA national titles, and in the face of constant critiques about him he's gone 7-2 this season on a team that went 1-4 before he started for them.

The fact that he's an outspoken Christian is just an added feature. Thanking God for your performance is nothing new to people of faith, people do it all the time. If you're a Christian you should thank God for your blessings. But that's besides the point.

He's done nothing but walk the walk, and people hate him for that. He's not a hypocrite like say Evander Hollyfield (Boxer) who was an outspoken Christian but fathered kids with different parents.

His faith has made him popular by the Christian community and it's made him reviled by the likes of you that ignorantly think that people motivated by faith can do no good in this world.

If Tebow weren't always praying or doing the tebow on the field he'd still be talked about but not to the extent he is now... as you know U.S is a deeply religious country so this kind of act gets a lot more attention! when people talk about tebow they talk about jesus, divine intervention, miracles, all dealing with his talents on the field..sure most of them are poking jokes at him but still nonetheless that is what they are saying

What does God have to do with throwing a football when there are starving people who are withering away to nothing in most of the developing world? I would love to ask him that question in front of the cameras

to watch him st st stutter and try to think of an answer

You're an ignorant fool.

Do you think Tebow's only act is to Thank God in Post game interviews? And do you think he started the Tebowing craze on purpose?

Regarding starving people in the world he's spent much of his free time doing service for the poor in the Philippines, in fact he was actually born there.

http://www.btea.org/index.asp

His dad founded an orphanage there. But yeah because he wants to tell people about Jesus he's a scumbag eh?

The Tebow's have done more to make this world a better place than you'll ever do.

Good for him, but that doesn't impress me, its P.R for his Christian like image..he is a brand, he is indoctrinating people through football and fame!

Complete nonsense. He's never told people how to act, or what they should believe. You're becoming quite paranoid now.

So your take is that as long as there are poor in the world, regardless of what you do to help the poor you are a bad person if you thank God for, what others would deem trivial successes.

Now I know you rage against all things Christian but Jesus acknowledges that the poor will always be with us.

Matthew 26:6-13

6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,

7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head, as he sat at table.

8 But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste?

.

9 For this ointment might have been sold for a large sum, and given to the poor."

.

.

10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me.

11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.

.

12 In pouring this ointment on my body she has done it to prepare me for burial.

13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her."

If olp1fan was there he'd probably think the woman with an alabaster flask is a bad person. Because she wasted money on trivial praise.

Okay, so what if a person is a genuine Christian in the way that Jesus taught. They find themselves in a position of adulation and celebrity worship, and they are totally uncomfortable with it. So they mention Jesus and give credit to him. That's not a bad thing, it's saying you don't accept the praise because you know God is the one responsible for your success.

There certainly are celebrities and politicians who pay lip service to Jesus while living like cretins, but that doesn't mean no one should genuinely thank God for their lives.

I don't think Tebow is like these others that pay lip service to Christianity. I think he's genuine.

At least The Jills were'nt on TV...

They were on TV here... I got to see the last few minutes. 13 of 30 for 185 yards, 1 td, 4 int, 35.6 passer rating for Tebow. 35.6 is the lowest I can personally recall ever seeing. 185 yards sounds pretty good, except over 100 of that was late game when they were already 4 scores behind and the Bills were playing prevent. And of that 100, half of it was on a single completion.

And this is a great example of why it's dumb to try and associate some kind of greater message with a sports outcome. If Tebow's "miracle" wins were proof of the power of Jesus, then what were his last two games?

I live very close to Stinkalo...If they don't sell out 72 hours ahead of kickoff, they get blacked out...

185 yards is'nt very good, particularily when you are passing for less than 50% and you've thrown 4 picks AND most of that yardage came in garbage time...

The mediocrity of the AFC West continues...

I watched the game last night on GamePass.

Quite enjoyed it: two bad teams playing poorly can be fun to watch when one team is playing better than they usually play.

It's proof that Tebow should change his name to "Job?" ;)
