Guest Derek L
And you continue to ignore the comparison to other modes of transportation which would likely be cheaper. Why not retire all air ambulances? Think of the money to be saved……..Or go further, let’s take away the cruisers from the RCMP and give them back horses.. Even at that, the dollar amount may be moot, but the principle certainly isn't. How's that? These are not private aircraft to be used willy nilly by our political/bureaucratic masters and, yet, that's exactly how they are used. Really? http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/8w-8e/sqns-escs/page-eng.asp?id=661 412 (T) Squadron is based in Ottawa but belongs to 8 Wing Trenton. It provides high-ranking government officials and foreign dignitaries with VIP air transportation worldwide. What would you say their role is? msj
What would you say their role is? I don't consider a Captain to be a VIP. I also do not consider a vacationing Minister to be a VIP. He/she is a person on vacation.

Smallc
If I understand correctly, because the Captain was on a CF leave pass, the CF was footing the entire medical bill, and bringing him back to a Canadian hospital was far less expensive.
