Yet the Palestinians have elected a party that has, as its rule, the elimination of Israel. The Jews in Warsaw held no such desires for WW2-era Germany.

Despite their charter being well publicized, Palestinians still voted for them. Once again, let me stress that: Palestinians in Gaza voted for a party that openly declared that they were going to eliminate Israel. Not "live in peace". Not "End the occupation". But: eliminate another country.

To be fair about it Stegnosaur, there's not a chance in the world that the Palestine elections were not rigged! And there hasn't been another election since Hamas came to power and it doesn't look like there will ever be another one!

 right the ruling Fatah party rigged the election so Hamas could win ;) ya that's believable...you may be the only person on the planet that believes that scenario...

Why do you assume that only the ruling party could have rigged an election? We're not talking Owen Sound here! We're talking about Palestine - the wild, wild west!

I notice you also ignored the point that there have been no elections since. It's possible that Hamas did win the election fairly. Perhaps the voters had less faith in Fatah. I wonder how the Palestinians like it now that they may never get another chance to vote for a long, long time?

the elections were observed by the EU and united states and no corruption or rigging were reported.

hamas was democratically elected and this is not disputed by even israel. so please stop talking out of your ass.

hamas received most of the votes because they're more than a militant (resistant) group and fatah/abbas are known to be corrupt and have failed in resolving the problem with israel's occupation.

unfortunately, hamas has not learned that israel counts on violent responses from hamas to continue the status quo. it seems like they've tried by agreeing to and observing ceasefires but israel is always able to pull them back in (ie; what lead to the war on gaza). hamas is also unable to control the smaller militant groups within gaza and their rocket attacks. hamas needs to come around and accept israel within the internationally recognized 67 border. momentum is on the palestinian's side and it's a matter of time before a plastinian state is achieved. with or without israel or hamas' acceptance.

Has anybody in Palestine pondered the possibility that if Palestine achieves statehood, and Hamas directly or indirectly orders the lobbing rockets into Israel, that that would constitute an act of war on the part of the Palestinian state and would give Israel wider military options than it has ever enjoyed in Palestinian-controlled areas?

not sure if it could get any worse than what happened in gaza. the laws of war will apply, regardless. laws that israel broke during operation cast lead.

not sure if you knew or not, but hamas has initiated and observed several ceasefires with israel. in fact, as mentioned before, there was an 8 months ceasefire with israel before israel violated it which led to the war on gaza.

fatah was responsible for the political breakdown that caused the cancelation of elections...an agreement between the two parties has the next election within one year of May 4, 2011...

This doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in the alleged Palestinian state. Even tyrannies have clearer lines of authority, and what kind of democracy has to negotiate when the next elections will happen?

I stand corrected. I was merely expressing an opinion. Sorry my doing so offended you.

I also stand unnecessarily insulted! I will make a suggestion to you in return.

Why don't you take your insulting manner and crankbag attitude and flee back to rubble.com where such attitudes are the norm? It's obviously the sort of environment where someone of your persuasion would feel more comfortable.

Another uncivilized, discourteous lout for the 'ignore' list! Geez, it's getting long! What's the younger generation coming to, I wonder...

i recommend that you learn a little more about these arabs before coming in here and commenting about what kind of people you think they are. not only do you constantly generalize and give blanket statements, but you're also spreading misinformation. it seems like you've made up your mind about the situation without really knowing the parties who are involved in the situation and all you're doing is parroting superficial comments given to you by the propaganda machine.

That's still no excuse for your insulting and uncivil behavior! Can't you make your point any other way?

The best thing about this board is that it's NOT rubble.com! Why do people like you come here and try to make it as bad as that one?
