Do you have a favourite pie...

I saw the title to the thread "Do you have a favourite piece of classical music?" on the homepage, which was truncated to "Do you have a favourite pie..."

I was going come on and tell you that, yes, yes I do and it is blueberry with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. And second place goes to cherry pie - delicious! Although deep dish apple pie, especially at Christmas time is pretty damned nice too.

What is your favourite pie and why?

I have never understood this americanism. A pizza is just a pizza. It's not a pie.

It's not an "americanism."

Edited to add link:

The Ancient Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese. In Byzantine Greek, the word was spelled πίτα or pita, meaning pie. The word has now spread to Turkish as pide, Serbo-Croatian and Bulgarian as pita, Albanian as pite and Modern Hebrew pittāh.] The Romans developed placenta, a sheet of dough topped with cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves. Modern pizza originated in Italy as the Neapolitan pie with tomato. In 1889, cheese was added.

Pizza is a pie.

I like Pizza pie - with beer. :)

I think we do need more statistics on the subject, but I think obviously the question of why Americans are so fat is more complicated than just--

--oops, wrong thread.

It's not my favourite, but I do like a good strawberry rhubarb pie or blueberry (especially here in NB when blueberries are in season.... way better than blueberries anywhere else in Canada).

We have whole farms that grow nothing but blueberries here in the Fraser Valley of BC. Acres and acres, rows and rows. They use these cannon like noise makers to scare the birds off and every summer it's a battle between the farms and the nonfarmers who are sick and tired of the noise every July.

Anyway, the berries are lacking, after all that. Huge fat bluberries and most of the product tastes pretty pedestrian, which is kind of a letdown. The odd farm has a strain of plant with good bluberry impact, but the rest is only good for pie or such. And actually, I'm fine with that!
