Voter intelligence is being insulted again

Recommended Posts

For me, it would be a waste of money to get a degree. I'm not dropping 60k for a piece of paper I don't need. I heard from uni students back in the day that their exams are based on what they learn in textbooks at the bookstore. So I and the credit card hit up the bookstore and I got my "education" at a tenth of the price and I got to stay at home.

My Dad said, "If all you learn is what's in those books, you'll be wasting your time." ;)

He was right. The stuff in the books is the very least of it.

sorry wrong...rural people have less education than urban and that's a fact, taking over dad's farm doesn't even require completing grade twelve...plus with a full education college or uni comes more social exposure, sophistication and progressive liberalism...

the educated rural people I've met tended to be progressive...

You guys really need to stop thinking that you've been out to the country cause you went to a petting zoo!!!

And you also should be more wary of who you call "rural" and categorically label as uneducated. I know of a few doctors, radiologists to be precise, who have 14 years of education and make 10 times what you would ever dream of making in a year and would be considered "rural" and are the farthest things from uneducated.

So where does your "fact" come from? Perhaps you should said something more specific like FARMERS are uneducated....but even that isn't true anymore. Many farm kids that take over daddy's farm are going to get business or agriculture degrees now. So really, where does that fact come from? The douchebag in the front of a lecture hall that teaches you what to think instead of how to think?

Actually no. Education tends to make people more socially liberal. But it does necessarily turn people in socialists. The educated people that turn socialist tend to be those with degrees with little practical application like a BA. I am not sure what the direction of causality is. Edited by TimG

hear the whooshing noise go over your head??... that was the point of my post which you failed to grasp...a perfect example what a lack of logic, comprehension and sophistication that results from a minimal education...

fixed your spelling...

Not going to bother recopying your post I was responding to but all you spoke about was rural people being generally less educated. I dissagree completely, I thought I was being pretty clear on that. The percentages of people who get post secondary educations I would bet are pretty similar all across the board. It may tend more towards Uinversity degrees in the city but sorry many of those degrees arent worth the paper they are printed on other than the for the pure pleasure of learning. Glad your university degree helped you fix my spelling. Saying someone has a minimal education because they no longer spell well without spell check hitting it has little to do with education and everything to do with day to day activity. I can trouble shoot and fix mechanical systems that would blow most peoples minds. I can design and balance duct systems to deliver specific air flows beyond what most understand. My minimal education was a 2 year diploma coarse followed by a 5 year apprenticeship and constant training over 17 years on electronics and mechanical systems. The "lesser people with the lesser educations" often have much more common sense, intelligence than the book smart elite that tend to make statements and generalizations like that.

Thank God TV ratings are going down and advertising revenues are drying up-I wonder why?

One of the interviewers commented that the reason the NDP did so good in Quebec was because they dumped a lot of money into TV commercials. He specifically pointed out one with a couple gerbils running in circles and another with dogs running in circles.

You're dwelling in the past. I fear for the future if Spending Jack gets any power.

Harper has proven with a visible track record that he will overspend. Jack has never overspent on anything, so you can't claim that you know how Jack would do anything. You choose to discard experience and replace it with supposition. Could you be more mindlessly partisan?

It seems that too many people on this board are not sufficiently educated to stop labelling all thoughts of socio-economic progression as "socialist".

Socialism is about state control of the means of production. Canada is about as socialist as the US. People who want national economic plans to benefit the most people are neither "socialist" nor "evil commie bastards". But I suppose it's too much to hope that anyone in Canada would even desire to step beyond their conditioned thinking, let alone have the capacity to do so.
